4.99 definitely a better price point. But still pretty awesome to have in the collection.

I understand your view about the articulation of these figures but these were a retro themed line. So its about the packaging and the figure as a whole to recall our childhood love of simpler figures. I have bought a few from ebay sellers here in England. If i could get them cheap enough. I enjoy them since playing with them became a thing of the past decades ago.

True, but the "retro" theme only resonates so far if there are competing products of a superior quality for the same or lesser price. I understand the appeal of retro Star Wars and Indiana Jones, where they are attempting to do a reproduction of a vintage toy, but these aren't that. There were no Kenner Marvel figures back in the day, so this is a hypothetical nostalgia. I found it appealing at first, because they do look cool, but then Hasbro revealed that they could do better Marvel figures in a similar scale.

@@LogicBlaster I have looked on eBay here for the figures you mentioned, but they seem obscure here. I do like the look of the Spider-man you showed. I hav3 picked up a vanishingly few Marvel Universe figures for that slightly more realistic look, but as of tonight. I stand by my feeling that these figures look good on their cards. Less so when released, I grant you that. I await the figures you prefer and may comment again should I stumble across them at an affordable price. The points you made are of course valid. But I do have a soft spot for these.

Right, so it's a weird situation with these figures, they are scaled a bit too large 4" instead of 3¾", and the packaging is terribly unappealing, but they are definitely better than the "retro" figures, and the price point becomes a deciding factor for me. Should I pay more for an inferior figure just based on nostalgic thoughts about the packaging style? It's a dilemma, for sure.

you didn't get unpunched carded figures from a discount store... stop the cap.

They arrive unpunched in the case and not all of them get put on pegs. Most of the toy section at my local Big Lots is just shelves, so many toys that would typically be displayed on a peg are just put on a shelf instead. So I did indeed buy these at a discount store.
