    I really appreciate your honest review ! Many reviewers have lost their credibility and your channel stands out ! Thanks for sharing !

    When the knob is pushed down, it’s true single coil. When it’s up, it’s series. True single coil mode on a stacked pickup is always louder than series humbucking. I like that they give you that option. I have the same guitar, and also noted how fast the finish faded. I personally love it.

    •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's a good point, food to know that that's how the stacked pickups behaves in general.
      The colour therefore has a vintage aging feature built in ;)

    Bought the FAT 2 years ago in faded cherry and I had no problems at all. Plays great, no humming and it was absolutely flawless. Payed 185 Euros and for that price it's an adorable guitar.

    no, dont think the pickup was wrong. its a copy of the gibson p100. it had like 10 k in silent stacked mode (coils in parallel, not series) and scorching humming 20k in split mode. normal humbuckers wire their coil in series, this in parallel. 2x20k in parallel=10k resistance? anyway.

    You know it's a good day when Georg uploads. :) Excited to see the mod. Oh and what you were saying about that hum, I'm actually wondering if my Jackson Minion JSX1 has a wrong wiring since when I Direct Input into a Scarlett interface, there's that exact annoying hum and also it feels like I get mild electric shock when I touch the guitar strings. What do you think?

    •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      does the hum disappear when you touch the strings? Then everything is normal. Basically all electric guitars with passive pickups do that. The bridge, and therefore the strings, are grounded (connected to the "minus" wire). If there is a noticeable electric shock, it might mean that you have the phantom power on (+48V for condenser microphones) on the Scarlett.
      But if it's just a "not sure if it's a shock", then it might just because it makes a tiny noise once you touch the strings and the hum disappears.

      @ Thanks! Um, no the hum doesn't disappear if I touch the strings :( it's there quite prominently, so much so that I can't record guitar tracks in Logic at the moment. When I plugged the guitar in, I didn't activate the phantom power button, as I wasn't recording vocals at the time...The shock is real, lol, I get a metallic taste on my tongue after playing guitar xD

      @@the-art-of-organ-playing I see. You can try the following: Does the hum disappear when you turn away from the computer screen and speakers?
      Have you tried a different guitar cable?
      If both didn't help, then it might be a grounding issue in the guitar's electronics compartment.

    • @the-art-of-organ-playing
      @the-art-of-organ-playing 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ Turning away from the computer or walking a bit further also didn't help, but I haven't tried a different cable. Oddly enough though, when I put my hand lightly on the Scarlett, the hum stops. So my body acts as the ground I think...:S

    •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@the-art-of-organ-playing that narrows it down to the Scarlett and your PC.
      The reason why there is no hum with microphones, is because XLR cables are balanced (three pins) while the guitar cable is unbalanced (2 contacts).
      What you can try is: Plug the computer and the Scarlet into the same power source (e.g. with a multiplug).
      Try a different USB cable (e.g. one with ferrite cores)
      If the Scarlett is USB powered, try powering it with its own wall power supply.

    I used the fixed "lightning" type bridge - intonates really well and you can get the action down.
    I'm really surprised they've stuck with this bridge as everybody comments on the action restriction.
    I do a demo over on my channel, though changed the wiring to output loading (50's wiring) and also the pots to 250k to tame the inherent brightness of the non stacked P90 pickup (quite good really) and quite acoustically bright guitar.

    •  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I know which bridge you mean, that sounds like a good idea.
      The Wilkinson bridge that I was showing in the video ended up not working well, it needs the posts at a further back location.

    • @Chanzo__
      @Chanzo__ หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which bridge did you exactly put? And did you do any more changes?

    •  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Chanzo__ the Wilkinson wraparound bridge ended up being the wrong choice, as it needs the bridge pins positioned further back.
      So I ended up recessing the bridge posts and using the original bridge. I'll show that in my next video

    • @Chanzo__
      @Chanzo__ หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you think about the bridge @valleywoodstudio7345 is talking about?
      I really like this guitar (the wood) but I'm mad at the playability with the serial bridge, and the pickup is noisy for my taste so I'm trying to improve this guitar as much as it lets.

    •  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Chanzo__ I haven't tried the "lightning" bridge myself, so I can't comment on how well it'd work on this guitar
