Happened with me while I traveled to Toronto with a layover at London Heathrow, met one elder woman coming alone from Jalandhar, I saw her weeping as her confidence broke down due to the strict checking at London Heathrow. Me and my family tried to calm her down and didn't leave her till she was calm and gained her confidence back and smiled again. I was thinking the same of having such a platform to avoid such situations in the future thankfully it has come from your side.

Remember your 2021 video, and now it's an excellent initiative.. hopefully people utilise it positively and everyone gets the help. Apart from Airline/Airport spl services, why such outside platforms are not accepted easily is because of the lack of genuine people being there, many platforms are prone to scammers who misuse the situation. But I really hope this group is away from such people and there's actual help reaching the needy!

When my parents first travelled back to India from USA , I just came to India along with them so that they don’t face any such problems. I believe people living in USA and Canada at least earn this much that they can afford this expense. Nothing is more important than parents.

Bhai, This is a problem nowadays due to their children running behind money. Only purpose of these elderly is to look after their grand children. Value of human life is deteriorated.
Staying at one place your whole life is not good...elder people are also getting smarter these days and should not feel dependant,they can always ask for help to co-passengers ,some one or other will definitely help.
I don't want to side with United or any western airline - but it is not in their culture, to help the elderly, like us. i am not saying they are bad people and do it intentionally, but that is how they are brought up. We, as Indians, are brought up differently. The elders in their society dont want help - and here, our elders bless us and smile when we help them. they will not help unless you ask explicitly. I also want to add that they have some kind of superiority complex (which i must say is really bad).
Its the fault of children who are letting their parents travel alone, not the airlines. Our older parents travel between USA, Canada and India and we make sure we help check them in or accompany them ourselves. There is meet and greet service. The children have to blame.

Heartwarming story.. i once helped two punjabis bhais in belgrade airport in filling the immigration form . They were hotel workers in cyprus. It felt good. Then i lost my gopro in Belgrade. Went to albania.. was heartbroken. Had to reorganize my trip but ittefaq.. due to reorganization i got to meet Mountain Trekker varun sir himself in Tirana..
Don’t blame the airlines only. The kids who invite parents on difficult itineraries with multiple plane changes are equally to blame. You can’t expect everything to go as planned and there will be missed/delayed flights etc. Knowing that they still take a chance hoping someone like you will come to their aid. If you love your parents and they are not equipped to travel alone, go and bring them yourselves.

I will tell you the reality. Children often choose the cheapest air fares over the comfort of their parents to book the flight tickets. How can you expect your elderly mother to go through multiple layovers all alone, and that too when she is not well travelled and does not speak English. Anyone who has travelled to North America knows that United is the worst airline for customer service. Flights with multiple layovers always have the added risk of missing the connecting flight due to a delay in flights. This is the tip of the service. Ive seen where elderly parents can't even fill the landing cards of the country they are about to enter and panic and are at the mercy of strangers if they choose to help them or not.
actually dont send them alone because they dont know english language and airline staff dont know our language. and some times there is very small layover gap for our connecting flight which our parents do not manage so this problem aries

Services are available at All major airports. Problem is people don't care to look for the same at right place. Each airline website has those details. In India, vistara, air India, indigo and Adani meet and greet services are available. Similar meet and greet services can be booked for connecting and destination flights also outside India.
Most of the time the family members of the elderly passengers do not know that such service is available and can be requested from the relevant Airline staff.

Although it is inconvenient, I never heard anyone not making their destination. I feel potential of abuse on having a platform like flight amigos as this issue of trust. The risk of abuse is far greater than the passenger not making their final destination. People in NY are a different bread. They have a big city mentality. Everyone for themselves. Obviously the video does not explain the whole scenario, why don't their kids or people themselves book Delhi-Toronti direct flight. Why do they always go for cheaper flights that have so many connections. Travelling should not come at the cost of uour comfort and peace of mind. Children should keep in mind that there are flights with better routes and saving money should not be a priority in these cases.
This is what I always do... Seen many old people travelling within India for the first time and not knowing where to approach in airport. Always request all our friends to help as someday our parents may need similar help.
dubai airports have these kind of services called marhaba. honestly it's a huge relief when my mother travels alone to and from dubai coz they take care of you from the point of disembarking through to the exit.

It's working in Mumbai, person with wheel chair is standing outside the airport they will make you sit on the aircraft and the other person with wheel chair will attend on the arrival, obviously it's chargeable and for domestic only, they will help you in check inn as well

Honestly whoever had booked ticket for that aunty should have gotten something into Canada directly. Especially, you know they are old and cannot understand English, it looks a bit ignorant on part of whoever booked 2 stop ticket for her. I have landed at EWR a couple of times and the wheelchair situation is a little mess because of staff shortage. The staff prioritizes people by their connection time, if their last stop is EWR, but Indians (or other nationalities) who don't understand English find it difficult here to gauge the situation setting into panic. There are 60-70 wheelchair pax on a flight from Indian and it takes time to sort them out. I take special assistance for my mother so if we have time we try to wait back a bit and help them out if needed, at least connect their phones with the wifi so their relatives can take control of the situation then us getting into it.
01:37 - The cost of this service in the US would be unaffordable, especially to price sensitive VFR segment from India. Even if they could pay, the shortage of manpower in the Western World is a problem currently.

I advice to send elder people in to direct flights or country where they want to reach. No other country flights. In these case airlines are not in fault. We have to book destination country flights.

For an elderly flying alone they should be sent by direct flight. United Airlines have a very bad reputation in terms of service.
They should’ve booked direct Air India flight to Toronto, but in order to save some money they booked a connecting flight that too by United.

Never take any American carrier. Have had horrendous experiences with almost every single one of them.

I have landed at EWR a couple of times and the wheelchair situation is a little mess because of staff shortage. The staff prioritizes people by their connection time, if their last stop is EWR, but Indians (or other nationalities) who don't understand English find it difficult here to gauge the situation setting into panic. There are 60-70 wheelchair pax on a flight from Indian and it takes time to sort them out.
I take special assistance for my mother so if we have time we try to wait back a bit and help them out if needed, at least connect their phones with the wifi so their relatives can take control of the situation then us getting into it.
01:37 - The cost of this service in the US would be unaffordable, especially to price sensitive VFR segment from India. Even if they could pay, the shortage of manpower in the Western World is a problem currently.

Children and adults should have COMMON sense to plan if you must go to see your children.
Children most importantly should plan their parents journey not leave them hanging in the air so to speak.
We r senior city with green card we often fly alone such a Long flight layover with one stoppage no problem for us .
Don't want to generalize however I generally find staff at US airports rude. Been there a few time and don't want to go back to US.
Off topic : Usually Indians ignore each other in the west but when panoti comes they look for a fellow Indian.

I advice to send elder people in to direct flights or country where they want to reach. No other country flights. In these case airlines are not in fault. We have to book destination country flights.
