You got stung, got wet, broke a tripod, a mic and still kept smiling despite it all. You rock man! Thanks for bringing us your adventures and a positive attitude.
Brad, Love your content. I'm retired Military ,that leaves me plenty of detecting time. I usually work military sites and here in S.C. we have a bunch. From the revolutionary war through WW2 I have found some of the most amazing items. Let me share something my Grandpa told me which led me to 2 of my most fabulous finds. This was 10 years ago and he was 98 at the time. He said "when working old home sites, try to find the outhouse first. then find the path from the house. Here's the best part. What is the first thing everyday a man will do? He will walk that same path to take his morning piss. This allows him to check his money stash buried either side of that path and that it is undisturbed. I have found 2 mason jars jammed full if silver coin. These were 2 separate home sites , about a year apart. The second find was on property that the GIST family (Wiki) homesteaded and was eventually bought by my Mom and Dad. That stash contained much silver but also 3 revolutionary war decorations. I donated them to the S.C. state museum. Thanks, Grandpa. I do notice on your channel you don't seek any outhouse that all (homestead ,tavern, blacksmith) would have had. Try my Grandpas advice. You might be surprised. Good luck, Regards in advance, Rick.
There's a saying (can't back it up with facts) that wherever there's a poison plant, the antidote is found nearby. Maybe whatever was in the jar IS for bee stings? /s
Brad, maybe Bigfoot rode a moose through the woods and found a bear in the trap. So Two choices: Bigfoot pulled the trap apart to remove the bear's foot , doctored up the wound and kept him as a pet OR between Mr. Bigfoot and the moose stomped and beat the bear to death to make some good soup for Mr. Bigfoot's family. Though I think Bigfoot might have been a vegetarian, so I'll choose the first ending. I'll have to see if I can find the old movie, 'Harry and the Hendersons' to see if the producers thought they were veggie critters. Love watching your videos Brad!
A pot of treasure is the dream. When I was stationed in Europe in the early 90s, I bought a machine and started going detecting. Found lots of neat things- chief among them was a clay pot with hundreds of hammered silvers from the 1400s. Must have been beginners luck, because I haven’t found anything nearly that cool in the thirty years since.
Man I HATE running into ground hornets in the woods! It's obvious they were protecting the giant nickel stash! Hope you've recovered by now. Thanks for our weekly dose of Vermont and grats on all the nickels.
When I first started, I dug every signal. Went through a phase where I skipped over signals and consequently past over tons of good stuff. Now I’m back to pulling EVERYTHING, it’s well worth it.
I've told this true story several times about a man detecting in the early days, 1960's in a park in Western Kentucky. His young son was there with him! Father has dug soda pop cans in the field till he was sick of them. Passed up several loud readings when his boy walked up and asked "are these any good, Dad? He held out 2 Morgans and a Peace dollar!
This does bring up the question of whether a premium detector with better discrimination is worth the money. My Ace 250 seems to do a good job of finding trash . . . and treasure.
The metal donut with the flat side hole is a circular saw blade washer and the same are used today. It's big so it may have come from portable mill equipment such as a table saw or radial arm saw.
Hi, Brad. I don't comment much, but I've watched every one of your videos as well as throwing a thumbs up. You're one of my absolute favorite detecting channels. Embarrassed as I may be, I just realized you've written the music for your videos! Love all the songs. Be safe out there. I'll never forget the time I stuck my hand in a wasp nest while cave exploring in Arizona. Pain!! Thanks for your entertaining videos.
What no one sees are the enormous number of hours of 'downtime' you spend in making each and every one of your videos! You cover every find so nonchalantly and smoothly, that we all imagine that you have nothing but unique finds all day. When in fact, it must take hours of swinging your magnet detector to come up with each and every video! Respect to you Brad!!
Crikey! It looks like things went all Indiana Jones on you today!!! Thanks for hanging in there and giving those of us who live through your adventures another entertaining video...stay safe!
When I was about 15 (I am now 77) I went to a cabin north of Trois Rivieres Quebec in a car with my father, my two godparents,, my cousin and a window. The window replaced a window broken by a bear. There were four beds in that cottage. I had to sleep on the flour directly below that window. There was a large moose print at the front door when we arrived. Traps like you describe make sense to me. There were no fish. peace and love
I’m so grateful I found your channel. I love to detect and find your content so intriguing but also therapeutic. I’m able to feel calm and my worries and anxiety quiet down for some moments while I’m watching your videos. These videos are a whole experience for me and I truly appreciate your knowledge, passion and just the whole vibe you create.
Nice hunt. If you want to know the date on the Buffalo nickel, place it in a small container like a jar lid or small plate with the date side up. Pour in just enough vinegar to cover the coin and sprinkle enough salt to cover it. After about an hour check for the date which most of the time will now be visible.
Big eastern coyotes can destroy a leg hold trap . At around 50 lbs they put a lot of force on em when caught ! I had just that problem with #2 coil springs ! Got heaver steel (#3 coil springs) problem solved !
I set up one narrow section on my detectors that cover nickels and give it a high tone. Since doing that I find many nickels, it doesn’t take long to start recognizing them and have a high percentage of digs be nickels instead of trash.
Sorry you got attacked by the bees. You answered my questions about the local wildlife that you see while out on your metal detecting adventures. Keep safe!
I love watching you dig up the treasures of the past. I am into genealogy and can imagine which one of my ancestors may have carried that old coin you just dug up. I also love the scenery you film, it is beautiful and you do such a good job of capturing the beauty.
Brad, please carry some kind of antihistamine with you on your journeys. It will neutralize the venom of the stings. I have known people who didn't know they were allergic to the stings to drop dead shortly after being stung. Cheap insurance to pop one or two after the event. I never go anywhere without, especially out in nature or even in the garden. Love watching you discover the past and always eagar to see a new video!
Mystery find looks somewhat similar to a vintage pill case top, couldn't make out if there was some type of hinge on the side or just fit over the top of something
Brad, I always look forward to seeing your videos. They never disappoint! Feel free to do more than one video a week- I’m pretty sure everyone here would be thrilled!
Hi Brad, I sure do like your videos. The trap was missing the pan, jaws and springs and also a chain to secure it. May have been "deconstructed" because the trapper used it for parts to repair another trap. Digging iron signals is a lot of work but can be rewarding. Carrying an epi-pen might be a good idea.
Sorry about the bee stings! LOL. I don't look forward to too many new videos coming out every week, but I look forward to yours whether I'm busy or even not feeling it for the day. You do an outstanding job and seemed so genuinely interested in most all of your finds. Thank you, love the nature pics also. Just stunning!
@Green Mountain Detecting my guess is the top of a sterling silver 925 would be the end of a big serving spoon or the top to a fancy lid of some sort, remember if it's squished like that they used to make the bigger pieces with some sort of wax or something as a filler so not as much silver was needed for bigger pieces thats why its squashed. Great Vid btw
Never disappointed adventuring with Brad, aka "you" but sometimes the bar gets raised! "Black Bear, Moose, Bigfoot?" I'm dying! You found some great treasures at the expense of your own hide and some equipment so, let's call it a win. Finished up on the side of a hill in Vermont under a canopy of trees while a storm rolls up on you. I know that clean, soothing smell myself and with the smell of Georgia Pines on a warm day are two favorite smells that make you glad to be alive.
Hello Brad the 925 sterling suggests to me to be the top of a glass jar .. whereby woman kept things in ie stamps buttons pins anything small part of a woman’s vanity dresser ..I have a few jars like this and they do have flowers punched in around top on lid … they are turn of the century from Eastern Canada a beautiful find. Thank you for your sharing your videos. Stay Safe
Another great show, Brad! Fridays are such a treat to me here in the San Francisco bay area. Thank you for your hard work and insights into our history.
Congrats Brad on your nickel coin finds .ty for that extra adventure bee stings lol.awesome video Brad you do a great job . Beautiful Vermont . Thank you for sharing .stay safe !
Brad, I cannot believe that you continued after the 😮bee attack. You can definitely take pain better than most. Again great video regardless. Look for you next Friday. Thanks Joe.
I always carry Lavender Oil (Lavender Officinalis) when landscaping (Stacy’s husband here). It neutralizes & is an anti inflammatory for bee stings, spider bites, & I’ve read snake bites too. I’m semi allergic to bees & L.oil works fantastic, taking pain away in 5 min & the swelling too. It’s better to rub on right away to prevent swelling & repeat every 5 min for 20 mins. My brother had a 1/4” deep area of flesh wasting away on his shoulder from a recluse bite but after applying lavender on it, it started healing next day. I of course gave him the bottle to continue applying. Get from a local health food store & NOT GNC as they have many fake products! TY Brad, again!
People were outside living and working their own farms. You can see how things would be lost and scattered around. Also this was clearly a multi generation home. Great show!
A Detectorists nightmare! If you were me, you would be in trouble. I am highly allergic and carry an EpiPen had several encounters this year already but I’m on the lookout and usually are able to avoid them. I’m glad you’re not allergic.
Another great video. Thank you. I believe the mystery find is the bottom to a little pill holder or something along those lines. Why i say bottom is because of the stamp. Stamps are usually always on the bottom. ✌❤❤ Benadryl, EpiPen, lavender oil. A must for your dig bag. So glad you are not allergic that could have been disastrous✌❤🙏
You live in an absolutely beautiful area! Everything is so pretty and green ❤ unlike Texas where we are in desperate need of rain. Everything here is brown
Hay Brad long time fan, yea those ground dwelling bee's always seem to be aggressive. A medicinal wild plant you might want to familiarize yourself with is plantain. Not related to the banana. There are 2 types, Lance leaf and broad leaf. They are very effective at stopping pain or swelling from insect bites or stings. I was recently stung on the lip by an angry wasp and chewed up a small amount and applied it to the sting. Within minutes all pain was gone and almost no swelling. Really a miraculous plant to know about. Happy hunting.
Brad, I once found a cold cream jar just like yours in the front yard of an old home in Hamlet, NC. It was jingling when I shook it so I became very excited. Inside I found old marbles that a child had obviously buried. I saved it with the marbles and it is the only cache I ever found. Thanks for your videos they make an old detectorist's day.
I have a guess on the mystery silver item, I think it's likely the cover to the end of a mirror handle. They were glued on with horse glue or pine pitch which got very brittle with age. Great find!
In regards to the silver piece, it could possibly have been a pistol grip cap. Maybe from a handgun or even a rifle. Sometimes they were a press fit with 1 or 2 screws holding it in place. There does seem to be the remnant of a screw hole on one end. These adornments were common on early firearms and what else was typical was using the butt of a pistol like a hammer. It would explain the damage. Just a thought. Love your show!
First I must say, OUCH! The Bee Stings will fade. Hate that you'll be replacing broken equipment! Congrats on your nifty finds! Thanks for Soldiering on to finish out the day!!
I was standing t the sink today, doing dishes, and found one of your vlog pieces of music going through my head, and a penny (or three nickels?) dropped: I haven't watched the latest episode! I got very excited. I'm sorry for all your bad luck making this one; i feel kinda guilty that this was wonderful medicine for me, as I've had such a rough week. It was just what the doctor ordered (not the jar of cream!) Thanks again for the joy you bring.
Why is it always a great signal in an insect nest. I have been chased out before. But luckily I wasn't stung. Man, I feel for you, and you just kept right on going. Such a trooper. I totally appreciate your dedication. Thanks for another great video.
The silver was probably in a woman's hair brush or mirror set. They would put a sterling silver over the handles, the zippo type top could be a match safe lid.
I'm a new subscriber and I have to ask; have you ever found a meteorite? Also, that silver piece marked 92.5, I think that might be Sterling. Sterling silver isn't true silver. It's an alloy. I don't remember the exact ratio but it's 90 something silver and a little copper.
You are in good company. My group of diggers and especially myself have found bees in South Carolina a few times. We are also not fans of bees, but we admire their persistence. Love the finds and relics. Great channel!
Brad another great video. I have been lucky avoiding bees while dectecing. Unfortunately I have been bitten numerous times by fire ants here in South Carolina. Kneel down to dig and they are on you before you see them.
What's up bro, I think what you have in that small jar might be Yellow Jacket Sting ointment? Lather it on brother!!! LOL, Stay safe out there. I am looking forward to your next video. Great job finding those nickels!!
In a world full of insanity you are a welcome bit of quiet and joy. Thank you.
Amen!!!!
Amen
You got stung, got wet, broke a tripod, a mic and still kept smiling despite it all. You rock man! Thanks for bringing us your adventures and a positive attitude.
The silver piece looks like it might be part of a vanity set....to me it looks like a rose carved on it....I think you were right in saying 'lid'.
That Bigfoot was fabulous!

Obviously the white bottle was medicine to treat bee stings. 😂
😂😂😂

Only thing missing was a rabid beaver...as always, great video!
Chig would approve of your message!
Or bat rabies is crazy this year
Or a rabid skunk! Lol!
Man I HATE running into ground hornets in the woods! It's obvious they were protecting the giant nickel stash! Hope you've recovered by now. Thanks for our weekly dose of Vermont and grats on all the nickels.
Looks almost like a mirror or hair brush backing plate. Nice find. Love finding silver!
Brad; We enjoy your videos almost as much as you enjoy your detecting. Gods Speed.
When I first started, I dug every signal. Went through a phase where I skipped over signals and consequently past over tons of good stuff. Now I’m back to pulling EVERYTHING, it’s well worth it.
I dig everything also

@@TomC2100 to further support that thought, I’ve pulled tons of cool stuff with my 50 dollar HARBOR FREIGHT detector before I got my SIMPLEX!
And that was in the early iron age od detecting. He was using a Garrett BFO detector!@@TomC2100
I think that’s a spyder! Oh trap, darn, I guess I was wrong, I love your videos. 🥰💕❤️👍👍

I think you can go over a property 8 or 10 times and still find stuff you missed the time before. That's what makes this hobby so much fun. :)

Looking forward to each drop more than Curse of Oak Island. You actually find good stuff. And underbudget, I imagine.

Great finds! I found a no date Buffalo nickel under a shelve in a 100 old building! Soo cool! Colorado here. Thank you Brad!
Good dig Brad.
One time in 55 years of digging I found 3 Nickles in one day. A V Nickle, Buffalo and a War Nickle.
FYI, The Yellow Jackets get much more aggressive the closer we get to
cold weather. Aside from the mean little bastards already bad disposition.

Brad! 🐝 careful where you step! Hope you feel better soon! Luv your adventures finding historical items.. 🐝 safe!
Another great show, Brad! Fridays are such a treat to me here in the San Francisco bay area. Thank you for your hard work and insights into our history.
Great job Brad, 3 hundred year old nickels is amazing great hunt. 🇺🇸
Congrats Brad on your nickel coin finds .ty for that extra adventure bee stings lol.awesome video Brad you do a great job . Beautiful Vermont . Thank you for sharing .stay safe !
I so enjoy watching you find treasure and the beautiful area. I would have kept and cleaned up that white jar.
Brad, I cannot believe that you continued after the 😮bee attack. You can definitely take pain better than most. Again great video regardless. Look for you next Friday. Thanks Joe.

Please put Benedryl in your backpack! If you get stung take it
There is also a stick for stings of all kinds that works and is easy to carry.
Especially with the stifling heat here in the midwest you’re video this morning is a real treat! Long to get back in the woods! Thank you
Chill Bill says dig it all. You've got to dig it all!
He gets Roman's. You get nickels 🥳
Always great videos. Thank you
Thanks for working though the pain Brad.
Great work Brad! I got stung by a bee a few weeks ago too! Thanks for uploading, keep up the great work 🍻
I wait every Friday for your videos. I love how you peak our curiosity as you show us your finds! Thanks
Glad you are safe, Brad. Excellent episode as always, thank you.
Great finds. Glad you're alright after your run in with the yellow jackets. Take care. 🐝🙂
Awesome adventure once again. Way to keep moving forward. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you Brad for the adventure , seeing some beautiful finds and scenery !
A Detectorists nightmare! If you were me, you would be in trouble. I am highly allergic and carry an EpiPen had several encounters this year already but I’m on the lookout and usually are able to avoid them. I’m glad you’re not allergic.
Squirrel trap , digger squirrels were trapped near the houses because they are so destructive !
Awesome, Brad. Thank you for sharing what you do!
LOL, I've had many mishaps like you did in this one, Brad. It happens. Nice score on the silver, relics, and nickels! Well done as always.
Great finds!! Take care and keep safe!!
I have a guess on the mystery silver item, I think it's likely the cover to the end of a mirror handle. They were glued on with horse glue or pine pitch which got very brittle with age. Great find!
One of my first significant finds was a 1919 Buffalo. 20 feet later I found a 1894 silver quarter. Love the channel.
Awesome hunting adventure Brad! I’m not jealous, mostly, but I am very appreciative of your efforts and style!
You rock the hornets!
Could your mystery find be a snuff container lid? I enjoy all your videos. Thank you
That was the most beautiful fifteen cents I have seen in a while. I live in Oregon We don't have older coins here unless the miners lost them.
First I must say, OUCH! The Bee Stings will fade. Hate that you'll be replacing broken equipment! Congrats on your nifty finds! Thanks for Soldiering on to finish out the day!!

Why is it always a great signal in an insect nest. I have been chased out before. But luckily I wasn't stung. Man, I feel for you, and you just kept right on going. Such a trooper. I totally appreciate your dedication. Thanks for another great video.
Yes they would have trapped close to their house, especially around the chicken coop. If you have wood chucks they love to burrow under buildings.
The silver was probably in a woman's hair brush or mirror set. They would put a sterling silver over the handles, the zippo type top could be a match safe lid.
I love SILVER... What a great find 😀
Thank you, Brad.
Dangerous out there!

I'm a new subscriber and I have to ask; have you ever found a meteorite?
Also, that silver piece marked 92.5, I think that might be Sterling. Sterling silver isn't true silver. It's an alloy. I don't remember the exact ratio but it's 90 something silver and a little copper.
Great finds, and wonderful video production. A welcome diversion during a quick work break!
Great finds! Rofl on big foot making an appearance! Glad you didn’t have a life threatening reaction to the bee stings. Yikes!!!
It is the cap off the top of a walking stick. and would have originally been dome shaped.
You are in good company. My group of diggers and especially myself have found bees in South Carolina a few times. We are also not fans of bees, but we admire their persistence. Love the finds and relics. Great channel!
No way! I will miss that! It's good that you already checked it. Next time I will double check my finds! Thanks for your advice
"Three Coins In A Fountain" Great video with great music, thanks.
I think the little white jar they call milk glass and it probably contained mentholatum. Thanks for another great video.
Brad I truly love your videos.
Great video. Awesome guy. Nice footage.
Brad another great video. I have been lucky avoiding bees while dectecing. Unfortunately I have been bitten numerous times by fire ants here in South Carolina. Kneel down to dig and they are on you before you see them.
Hard to believe, but Bigfoot startled me. Great finds, but sorry for the problems. Hope you missed the majority of the rain. Thanks much!
What's up bro, I think what you have in that small jar might be Yellow Jacket Sting ointment? Lather it on brother!!! LOL, Stay safe out there. I am looking forward to your next video. Great job finding those nickels!!
Great hunt buddy really enjoy watching your videos God Bless and happy dirt fishing…Virgil
