I love the the EOS M system. I was so sad when they discontinued it. Yes, all my other cameras are better and more advanced. But there are situations where small size and light weight is a must. For example on mountain hikes. I use my EOS M50 and EF-M 22 mm F2 all the time. It's such a handy and versatile camera/lens combination. It takes up almost no room in my backpack.
still use my m50 ii for everything. i have an ef adapter and i use the nifty fifty and 55-250 with it. the kit lens is really versatile too. also i recently got a sigma 30mm 1.4 brand new for the equivalent of 180 usd. overall really happy with my kit as it can handle whatever you could possibly throw at it i guess.
The Canon M50 and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 are the combo that made me fall in love with photography. Long live the EOS M mount! I truly don't get why Canon has not adapted te EOS M 22mm f2 into RF-S.

I have found myself using the Sirui Sniper 23mm f1.2 a lot lately! It’s an excellent walkaround lens (on the Nikon Z50) and it’s great for evening / night shots in streets! In fact, I shot abot half my shots with that lens on my recent trip to Krete / Chania. It is, also, my newest lens, so there is a bias there. I have a few older manual focus lenses that I also use and I find the TT Artisan 35mm f 0.95 to be a fun one.
I recently purchased the Viltrox AF 56mm 1.7 for Fuji X. It’s a fun lens. I had been wanting a 56mm for apsc but didn’t want to pay up for the Fuji or sigma version. Very happy with the image quality
For 10 years, my two lenses were the Sony 50/1.8 OSS and the kit zoom. I went full frame a couple of years ago, but I haven’t caught up with all my favorite shots from that prime lens! Concert security used to be lighter and it usually didn’t look too “professional” to be allowed in without a press pass. The OSS was perfect for handheld low light shots.
It’s nice to see the love for the EF-M mount in the comments, I also still have and love my M200 and M6 Mark II. Sad that new lenses aren’t being produced for it, would love to get the sigma 18-50 f2.8.
Excellent list!!! Got my 22mm F2 for about $100 used in great conditions, and it slides easily in my camera without taking any room. Allowing me to carry other lenses.

Sony shooters don't wait for the Viltrox 56mm f1.7. Get the TTArtisans 56mm f1.8 that is available now for USD158. I'm not sure why it did not make it to the list here. It's excellent by all accounts for the price based on reviews and in my own opinion too after having it used on my a6700.
On the really cheap side of things i like the 7artisans 25mm F1.8 manual focus lens (I use the Fuji version). It's obviously not perfect in every way but it has a fairly short minimum focus distance which enables extremely nice and soft bokeh. It's sharp too (at least in the centre) so have taken some very nice and artistic shots with it at close range to the subject. If you are close enough it will blur very pleasingly even at F4. The 25mm focal length and decently low 1.8 minimum aperture also makes it very versatile. On top the low weight at compact size makes it a great match for my little Fuji X-E1 that I absolutely love.
I have several Canon cameras, such as the R5, R10, 6D, among others, but the equipment that I use the most is the Canon M5 and M100 with em efm22. It is so small and clear that I prefer to go for a walk with these cameras instead of going out with the Full Frame equipment. The efm 11-22 is also another gem of the system.
I bought the Fuji XC 35mm on your advice, and it is the lens I use the most by far. The only shortcoming is the minimum focus distance, which is why I'm considering the new XC 30mm. I do love to get really close to my subjects! (A nod to the Viltrox 13mm in that regard - another of your great recommendations.)
Thanks Chris. This is a really useful roundup. I'd argue that the Viltrox 75 f1.2 should have been included as not much more than the Sigma standard zoom but being the premiere lens for portrait photography for apsc - at a half to less than a half of lenses that can't quite match it. Very much budget in _that_ sense if not absolutely one of the cheapest good lenses you can buy.
On the budget wide zoom end of the spectrum, the Tokina 11-18mm F2.8 ATX-M has been a treat for my ZV-E10 and its been regularly going for $399 lately!
Sony SEL 35/1.8 user here. I bought it bc I needed a fast, stabilized E-Mount lense for my Sony A6300. The lense gets close to 1.5 years old now. Wide open at f1.8 it is soft as heck. in daylight i have to stop it down to f/2.5 to f/4.0 to get a reasonably sharp image hand held.
I have to say the Fuji XC 35mm is one of my favorites. Half the price of the more expensive metal version but I believe it has the same optics, so a double bonus (sadly I don't have my Fuji system anymore as I decided to consolidate on a single FF system/mount). I do have to say a lot of the Viltrox lenses are very good value for the money. They aren't the cheapest out there by any means (there are much cheaper options) but the Viltrox alternatives do give the OEM lenses a run for their money in some cases, particularly when looking at the FF options at least (yes I know this video is about APSC lenses). That being said, I have considered getting a used Z50 (since I consolidated to the Z FF System) to get some of these lenses to play around, and as an everyday walk-around camera (although these lenses could be used on FF in APSC crop mode). I believe the TTArtisan 35mm for Z may already be available... according to Adorama at least. However I heard the lens isn't the sharpest but the price is hard to beat regardless. Might make a good street photography lens though.
Could you do an Review/listing of the best APS-C lenses you can get, no matter of the budget? Maybe even for the popular mounts each. I think the interest would be there for it.
My Canon nifty fifty, I have the first gen for $100(can) used. Bought it maybe 5 years ago and still kicking. Also nabbed a Sigma 18-300 f3.5-5.6, which I had issues nailing focus till recently. It's no good for wildlife birding, but a good all arounder light travel lens for my R7. And I got that one for cheap, brand new at $300(can) off an auction as distressed packaging. I have the EFM 20mm f2 for my M50, which I don't use often. But I pretty much only use that lens on it when I do pop out the old M50. Amd though not a budget lens, I bought an old Canon EF 70-200 F2.8L IS version 2 used for $1200(can)...easily $1700 for similar condition, just no lens hood or travel bag. This one is by far the beat value for my money in my kit.
The cheapest new lens i've ever owned is the Pegear 25mm f1.7, tiny little thing and shockingly good value for money. Cheapest lens I own was a used Olympus Zuiko 50mm f1.8 that i enjoy using a lot, I paid 20dkk for it, which is a hair under 3 euro.
The Viltrox Pro 1.2 lenses are similarly priced to most lenses on this list but it is insane to think that a professional lens is on this level of “budget”
got my sigma 30mm f1.4 for £150 last year and its great! only frustrating part is the purple highlights on the edges of contrasting objects :/ so looking to grab the viltrox 27mm f1.2 as an upgrade :)
4:43 - well, they are 100-150 bucks more than the 13mm... and for that price and how they perform, they are more of a steal (in my opinion) than the 13mm... I have both the 27mm and 75mm, and are my most used lenses, so much so that the 27mm is glued to one of my X-H2's permanently because of the versatile focal length
I have 3/4 which you showed in the first clip. They are all very good lenses. While I'm not using my Fuji currently because of the junky AF, that XC35mm was such a sleeper. Very good and super lightweight lens.
The cheapest and usefull for me the 22mm EOS M. 120.bucks 2nd hand. It is just an essencial piece of any M system. And also a Sigma 18-200 contemporary, for like 110 bucks 2nd hand, it is great all around, very surprised with that. It is like 50% sharper than a similar Tamron in comparison, also colors are.somewhat more intense, not like a prime obviously, but very very acceptable in all range and thats a lot for a cheap 10x.
Any chance you will get hold of the new kit lens for the ZV-E10 mk II ? Want to know if worth pairing it with a full frame just for street photography.
The Tokina 8mm is an interesting one, though isn't the TTArtisan 7.5mm crisper? (Besides including a couple rear ND filters). The tokina has 2,5cm closer min focus though. Still watching the video, but as always you are one of the best when it comes to APSC Sony action.

The TTArtisan 27mm f2.8 is missing. Tiny size, cheap and very good image quality. Only weakness is the AF, which isn't horrible, but not suitable for any faster action.
I revisited yours and Dustin Abbots review. You two arrive at opposite conclusions. Wide open his lens is very sharp in the middle and soft at the outer edges, while yours seems to be weak in the center. My copy is more like Dustin Abbots and very usable wide open. At f5.6 it's sharp through out the frame. The images are really clean and pleasing to look at. It beats the Sony kit lens by miles.@@christopherfrost
I don’t see the value in buying an apsc specific lens. Many similarly priced options from Samyang that are full frame and protect you from doing what I had to do when I upgraded to full frame, having to sell your lenses.
Never I buy a Viltrox. Had 23mm 1.4 & the new 20mm 140$ Version. For Video is not good. Focus pumps and Strugle. Now I have the Tokina 23mm 1.4 for Sony! Its a Dream, all say its a copy to Viltrox. Hell no, this Lens is an other World. Love Tokina Lenses.

i'm still in, love my m100+22mm and the other cheap primes. The 11-22 is jewel, and the 15-45 is good walk around... no reason to change at all

OM Zuiko 100mm f2 i picked up for $100 au is the best lens I have bought for the price.
I'd add the Fuji XC 50-230mm. The mk 2 has great OIS and IQ is very good, too.

Viltrox 27mm F1.2 and 75mm F1.2 are the best APSC prime lenses for me.
You should try the Sirui Sniper bundle lenses with AF and 1.2

I have the 56/1.7 in Z mount. After starting using it on Z6II realized, 10MP photos are more than enough in terms of resolution. A revelation...

The Sony 50 1.8 FE is also a great option for APSC. It doesn't have image stabilization, but it's fast, sharp and easy to find second-hand under 150€
