- Returning from a three-week vacation, Dave welcomes Richard Lewis, ballroom dancer Fay Gold, musician Paquito de Rivera, as well as a visit with the audience talking about their brinks with stupidity. Don't forget to check out the commercials as taped off WRC in Washington, DC, and this also was the final episode broadcast in mono.
I miss TV like this. I miss when the world was like this.
such a better time. all it's missing is a beer in my hand.
Here feb 2021! Gotta get my letterman fix!!!!
Every night
july 2024
Here for David...staying for the commericials. Thank you for leaving these in!
5:55 - Wow, Letterman predicting his Late Night successor here.
There was also a barbarian named Conan who was popular around that time
I said the same thing! Lol this was like synchronicity!
Watched 12/04/2023. That was so nice to go back…”new 1985!
The little old lady, Faye, was pure gold. Could have brought her back weekly.
This man was king and should have been Carson’s successor.
The executives,(especially Ding Dong Tinker), should’ve been shown the door, and or thrown through it!!
Let's Thank Jimmy Phallic for that.
😡😤🤬
David proved it & earned it.
Why he didnt get it makes u wanna go
"FVCK IT"
Minus Paul I can't stand Paul
Tinker was long gone from NBC by 1991, ding dong.
Thanks for the commercials. Very Cool!
i'm loving the old commercials on this too!
me too
This is so cool. It brings back memories of a happy time in my life. LOL. Thanks for sharing.
My nipps are rock hard
The Complimentary gifts they gave out are so Old School and thats relative to 1985
I love those commercials too!!
Nothing like blended seafood. Yum!!!
I'd actually eat that. It's just krab I'm pretty sure
The last night that Letterman ended, was the last night I stopped watching late nite talk show TV after that.
These guys couldn’t hold a candle much less come close to either Carson or Letterman!
Stay cool God loves you
Richard Lewis is so entertaining
This is a treasure, blast from the past, especially the commercials you obviously carefully chose to include!!! Thank you so much for this gift, it was much needed and appreciated!!👏🏼💖✌🏼
I’m pretty sure the commercials and promos were also on the tape from the night of this broadcast
That's the original drummer, Steve Jordan!! He went on to a big recording career. Replaced by Anton Figg.
I remember these commercials
40:35 Haaa they edited out Dave's scapegoat lol !
wow, making conan jokes in 85. this must have been the moment he committed to hosting the show one day.
Gold 👍🏻
Oh, to go back and stay there.😢😢
I was only 15 days old when this aired in 1985
I was one day old, being born just a day before... I always get curious how the life must be on earth on the day i came in this world, well thanks to all the old videos recorded and youtube
@@ALMoori Judging life on earth by what is on the TV. Embarrassing.
@@eriklarson9137 sounds like you need a hug
@@eriklarson9137 You good? They said they were 'curious about', not 'judging'.
Mario chose an interesting outfit for this evening.
that slow bumper instrumental they played is i wonder
6:20 *WATCH THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER OF THE SCREEN* hahahahhahahahaha Dave is such a bastard.
Steve Jordan behind the drums. Just saw him on tour with the Stones. He was unstoppable. Hard to believe he’s in his mid sixties now.
15:45 This “New Coke” product sounds intriguing, where can I find some
You're a couple years late from the special limited offer courtesy of Stranger Things.
@@pannoni8449 Which was a couple years late from the actual new Coke. Not the new, new Coke.
WATCHED 12/4/20
Damn Paul get it man!!
40:48 - Who was 'the man'?
Leon Redbone Budweiser commercial @51:18
Whenever I see this actor I immediately hear "Latrine!" for some reason.
Cha-cha-cha
This piece was better when the writers would embellish at the end.
7:05 I love the cute gay guy! He looks better than most of them did in the '80s.
1:36
Little Richard Lewis with the big hair & oversized clothes. He was on late night tv a lot.
I didn't give a flying fig about how peculiar he looked, he was pretty unlike some comedians who think they are and are not. The beauty of comedy is that their not in it for the looks...that would be modeling or selling cosmetics.
I meant he was pretty funny.
Shit Dave, you didn’t let that lady talk about her stupid thing she did when she was younger!!!
5:40 and he ended up taking over Late Night while Dave went on to greater things.
Richard Lewis was a mess, just like the rest of the show but still funny. Ehhh... whats that part that was edited out? Something got censored lol
Thx Richard probably on Coke Everyone was
16:00 *people who know the story of new coke and the hilarious fiscally irresponsible blunder and societal backlash it caused seen laughing their asses off right now* emplemon did a good documentary on the new coke fiasco I believe
Cocaine not new coke
Richard Lewis isn't funny.
He dresses funny.
Jesus, what a paean to mediocrity. A dull day in the life of a largely forgettable talk show. Uninspired and innocuous. When this show was great it was truly great, but truth is, it was more typically uneven like this example. Curious and almost refreshing lack of of minorities in the ads, given todays over compensation.
I can't tell you how much I love reading comments like this on random TH-cam videos. It's funny because you write like you think you are the smartest person in the room. Everyone else knows you are not. Continue please.
@@eriklarson9137 you 2 deserve each other lol who can be more miserable
Good job using all of this weeks vocabulary words! A+!
