    Helpful video with lots of information explained in a nice easy going manner. There was no need for the background music - it was annoying and added nothing to the video.

    Beet greens are sweet and deliscious. You dont have to remove the stem at all when cooking the sweet yummy beet greens.

    Background music is not necessary and makes it hard to listen to what you’re saying.

      @@GreenThumbGardener That’s all I meant to say. I’ve got a lot to learn about gardening , and I just want to be able to hear what you’re saying without interference. Music at the intro and/or end is no problem for me.

    Good stuff. I'm in The Bahamas. Need to go home now and pull mine up. Did not realize that it should not be in the ground in the summer. Thank you.

    Niceeeeeee when the plant fully mature does it needs lots of water still

    • @GreenThumbGardener
      @GreenThumbGardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      👋 Hey Richard! Thank you for your comment! The water needs of a mature plant do depend on the type of vegetable you are growing, as well as your climate. Generally speaking, most vegetables need about 1-2 inches of water per week, either from rainfall or irrigation. However, it's always a good idea to regularly check the soil moisture to ensure your plants are getting the right amount of water. 💧🌱 Hope this helps! Happy gardening! 🌻🍅

    I put four in my garden this year 2023 but only one started to grow I am grateful and glad cause it is my first te grow in beets

    • @GreenThumbGardener
      @GreenThumbGardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      👋 Hi Richard! Congrats on your first beet! 🎉 It's always a great feeling to see something grow and thrive in your garden. As for the other three beets that didn't grow, there could be a few reasons. Maybe the seeds were old, or perhaps the soil conditions weren't quite right. Don't be discouraged though - gardening is all about trial and error. Keep experimenting and soon you'll have a whole garden full of beets! 🌱🍇🥕

    Can they be left in after freezes?? I’m assuming we should harvest before then but curious what you know. I think we’re in zone 5

    • @GreenThumbGardener
      @GreenThumbGardener  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can even in the snow. You need to cover the ground with something like leaves or a tarp to keep the ground from freezing completely if you want to harvest in the winter. Here is zone 7b, I just use some leaves and able to dig up in the winter. Maybe try a couple to this year to see what you can get away with.

    I have my entire garden surrounded by blocks as well. Love it! This is the first year i planted beets in my garden. Reminded me of years ago when my Pap used to grow them. Nothing like fresh beets. He used to store them in the fruit cellar under the side of the house in a bin of sand with his carrots. We would leave many in the garden and cover them with straw. Great straight forward video on beets!

      We are in western PA and I love to grow fresh veggies and can hot peppers and also make pepper mustard. I have a few volunteer tomatoes that have come up for the past 15yrs and they are the only variety that hasn't been hit with any blight year after year. Too bad they are cherry tomatoes and not the big ones for canning sauce or making sandwiches. Still, nothing like a sweet fresh cherry tomato tight off the vine.
