  • The 7 videos titled “Insidious Attachment Trauma / My Story / Why No New Videos / and Inner Child Healing” are a series of self-reflections and insights about vulnerability, transparency, my work with clients, and sharing my Personal Healing Process.
The videos cover a range of contemplations, specifically around my relationship to making and sharing videos on TH-cam, my work as an Attachment-Focused Psychotherapist, and how trauma reenactment shows up in the most sophisticated of ways in my life.
Perhaps, my approach and organization of sharing these ideas gravitate more towards some kind of manifesto, a declaration announcing where I’ve been and where I’m going.
I was mindful of you, the audience, when filming. Specifically, I held the intention that my personal stories and life experiences might serve as encouragement to understand your own.
Maybe through the normalization of talking more about how Attachment Trauma impacts our lives in many ways, over the course of many years, we might begin to see our collective options for change and healing.
Also, I realize there is a risk with the level of vulnerability I offer here. However, the alternative of solidifying around a guarded privacy only serves to reinforce the limitations of persona-management, which would more uphold a choice to align with disconnect and not relationship.
And if any of my previous videos hold water, then they attest to the fact that I value relationships and emotional connection. As I have said for years, “Emotional Connections Matter!”
I took certain inspiration from a specific TH-cam Channel called “Yes Theory” to challenge myself regarding degrees of exposure and revealing myself here.
The “Yes Theory” videos, while sometimes initially presented as a fun and silly premise, mostly deliver a heartfelt intention grounded in the power of connecting with strangers and celebrating our humanity.
Additionally, I also considered how I might present if I were to give a Ted Talk, albeit my version comes with permission to go beyond the standard twenty minutes and sans a stage.
It’s a very bizarre world indeed to be so personal while talking to a video camera alone in a room with the awareness that we (the viewer and I) don’t know each other. It is bizarre to give others access to the most fragile parts of my heart and strongest resources for my healing work.
    Please watch with respect.
The end of this video includes me asking for help around the evolution of my work. I ask for help with collaborations, spreading the message of better relating, and engaging a larger in-person audience through lectures and workshops. As we all know, no one can do it alone. I cannot do it alone. I need to learn how to ask for more help, find it, and even more importantly, practice letting it in.
If you are just learning of me and my work, thank you for your interest and curiosity. If you are one of the longtime supporters who have followed me for years, I feel heartfelt gratitude.
    Thank you everyone.

I’m listening, deeply. Thank you for sharing such a tender part of yourself.
    Your brain-
Your heart- as if I could know these things….
    Are beautiful.
That you keep showing up in the world, fills me with the faith of existence. Show up big and small, as you would. As wisdom tells you.
The light in me, sees the light in you. I’m grateful.

Dr Robarge, what a Herculean task you have undertaken. Although there was the siren call of future monetization, there is more to it than that. You plumb the depths of self, explore the brilliance of your mind, harness your humbleness and give. Your content is unique in being informed by the contemplative undergirding western concepts. Your content is complex and multilayered and one has to listen and reflect deeply. I only recently become aware of your channel and have been helped tremendously as have so many others. I have been in therapy for sometime and your content grounds me. Thank you. I hope to be a member of your community.

"Will you be the face of God?" What a moving, magnificent custom! If you could point in the direction of the referenced book, maybe with a link to your original video citing it or whatever is most convenient for you, that would be great. Thank you so much for all the insightful, healing videos that you create and share.

Hi Alan, your identity, your creation, is not defined by your work or your accomplishment or titles! I know you know that, or I hope you feel that deeply. And, feel free to visit me in Annapolis... I have a guest room you can stay in!! Best to you in EVERYTHING.

I felt similar writing on Quora. You write your heart out and give an excellent answer but people are asking the same or similar questions again and again. Quora perpetuates by burying your questions and my answers under layers and layers. For me, I'm not writing for my own ego, I'm writing explain relationship patterns, specifically through my own lens and experience. I did this freely, voluntarily, and asking for nothing. And I am happy to share HOWEVER, I felt like Sisyphus. I don't need that. I don't need to feel like a monkey writing Shakespeare for someone else's website while on a treadmill and chasing a banana as rewardfor my ego. Some people do, I guess. I can certainly relate to your experience with content.

I discover your channel after a breakup that just turn my world upside down. Alan, as a gay person who lives in middle eastern country I never ever seen someone who can understand me that clearly, more than myself! even without knowing me, its just beautiful. Like your soul and mind is connected with mine. Your work is amazing. I am 32 years old and I cried while watching one of your video ‘growing up as a gay person’ it was like seeing my young and scared self again, that poor boy have to hide and act all the time... I am trying to heal of my fresh breakup wound and I wish I discovered your channel just before I met my last partner. My partner still struggles with his identity and just prefer to stay single over his happiness..
Thanks for your understanding, you have seen us and validates us that we are not broken and not alone. I want to hug you ♥️🌸

You know, Alan. I wanted to share this with you. You're not as good as the posts you did yesterday. Something can be rewarding, even if you're doing it for free. Let me tell you. I forgot about you and your channel for a while. Years ago I was shattered emotionally and I turned to your channel. It helped me listening to you speak. Now, today, even though I'm in a different place, I just thought, let me see what Alan is up to and I started watching this video series again. So you're not as good as the post you made yesterday. Thanks

I found your channel this week while experiencing a break up as my partner of 3 years is emotionnaly shut and I made the decision to leave him. I never came across anything like you and how you explain the dynamics and patterns. I immediately listened to 3 and 4 and 5 more of your videos and subscribed. You are an experienced professional and I thank you so very much for doing these videos. You are explaining exactly what I knew and revealed a lot which made me think that my decision however difficult was the right one I feel supported while I listen to you. For all the dimwits who can't see your true value they can just go on watching other channels. Thank you so very much for your help/time and energy in making these videos.
