Hello Daki! I've been craving a new podcast that I can connect with and today I stumbled across Wool and the Forest! An amazing find, I am going to go back and watch the previous episode. My knitting centres and draws me inward, sadhana captures it beautifully (thank you for that, I've been trying to explain my connection with this fibre craft). Looking forward to future chats. Unfortunately, embroidery is not my strong suit (I dont think I have the patience for it) however I recently purchased a pattern for a sweater that has some embroidery detail. I am hopeful that I will embroider on wool, because I find it beautiful. Namaskaram.
Namaskaram 🙏🏽 I can't thank you enough for your wonderful message to me and for connecting with me here! It lifts my heart to see the deep recognition present in your words. I'm so glad you've found my videos and hope to see you drop by here again 🙏🏽
I hope that you thoroughly enjoyed the movie and time to yourself. I am also a mother of 4 children. My oldest is 19 and my only daughter. My boys are 16, 10, and 7. It is so hard to believe that my daughter is basically an adult. She has been my helper from a very early age. My boys have and still give me so much love and joy. Wishing you good health and to know when you need to rest.
Thank you for your very sweet words to me, and I see that we probably have many common threads in our lives with the four kiddoes experience. And I instantly recognize what you mean when you talk of your eldest daughter. I have always called my eldest my Right Hand because of how indispensable she has been to me in mothering the youngest two. Although their age gaps are much closer together than yours. Thank you so much for stopping by the podcast and I look forward to chatting with you again soon 🙏🏽☀️
Lazy Kate is the name. I so enjoy your podcasts when you find time. As a mother of 4 now grown children, I totally understand finding those precious bits of time for yourself/craft. I love the simplicity of what you do which I see as a reflection of times gone past. Kudos for achieving that : ). Your health will improve. As a knitter and newer spinner, I look forward to your episode on spinning. My husband has commented that I look at total peace when spinning. I couldn’t agree more. All the best to you!
Oh how beautiful that he noticed that. It truly is the closest I've come to being in a meditative state, outside of meditation itself, while actually performing an act. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, i truly feel them deeply this morning as i sit awaiting more treatment for my health woes ❤️☀️🙏🏽
lovely podcast, again🫶🏻 thanks for sharing I love to listen to your lovely voice and your interesting stories while I am knitting…. greetings from switzerland 🇨🇭
I loved hearing about your Gryffindor wardrobe! I consider myself a Ravenclaw and would very much like to have a Ravenclaw wardrobe. It's lovely to hear about ALL of your interests, including fantasy like Harry Potter and Dune. Thank you for sharing so much of your wonderful self with us. I love sitting down and knitting with you. I hope you are doing well and are healthy. With love, Danielle
Hi Danielle! It's so lovely to read your words here. I've been away from everything for so long, but I'm finally back with a new episode tomorrow! I hope this past year has treated you well!
So very nice to see you again. I do hope that you will be better soon regarding the anemia. It hit myself some years ago and I ended up self injecting B12 every other day and also eating a lot of liver and other good meats as well as fat from animals. This has now made a huge difference for me. And I still self inject EOD, probably until my symptoms will subside but I think the rest of my life. I have learnt a lot about B12 recently and it is such an important vitamin which cooperates with so many others like iron, folate and all the other B-vitamins as well as potassium and the uptake can only be done in the form of B12 from the animal kingdom. B12 deficiency has a long row of nasty symptoms as it is one of the most important ones for many different functions in our bodies (from eye sight and tinnitus to trembling and the whole nervous system). So if you haven't, pleas check it up. A deficiency long gone can be irreversibly. Also have a read at the B12 Institute in the Netherlands, they are world leading of the topic. Your podcast is such a joy to listen to and hear all the stories you tell about the hand craft you make. Thank you for sharing. And I so adore the jumper you are wearing and the one you have on your needles is so beautiful. Can't wait to hear all about it in a future podcast. Thanks for keeping med company whilst knitting 🥰
Thank you so much for your generous message to me and all the information and advice with regards to nutrition! I'm very grateful to you for taking the time for this. I have actually very early on in my battle with low iron, in my one before the last pregnancy, been aware of the key role that B12 plays in anemia itself. It's something I have been tending to along with thr iron issue. For me at least it seems to be closely connected to pregnancy and breastfeeding since I've never had issues with either nutrient outside of these two events. I'm working hard on lessening the nursing load as baby gets older. 🙏🏽☀️
That is so kind! I've missed being here and chatting with you all too. It's been a long a difficult break, but I'm back here with all the joy I can muster.
Oh my!! I've just discovered your podcast (and your channel), still at the very beginning of it (4:19 minutes) and I looooove it!!! Thank you!! 💗 I'm staying
Hi Daki, I am an intuitive spinner (and weaver) too and I resonate deeply when you talk about the spiritual dimension you experience. For me personally it’s even stronger when I use the drop spindle. It’s like I don’t know Portals opening to ancient rooms and spaces. It’s so powerful and connecting in many ways. Thanks for talking about all this and showing up with such a quiet and vivid mind and heart even in a physically not so well period. All the best for you and all other wool- and fibresisters out there and of course for everyone going through a strong period, keep up, Ann
Your words have mady my day Ann, thank you so very much for taking the time share so sweetly and so kindly 🙏🏽☀️ and you put it so beautifully, "ancient rooms and spaces"; so much resonance with your words. It is such a blessing to have been given the key to such a dimension, don't you feel? Thank you so much for making time for my podcast today ❤️
I was so excited when I saw your new episode and so sorry that you've been ill. Please take care of yourself. Sending all the healing energy and love to you and your family. I cannot wait for your Harry Potter wardrobe. Your knits are stunning and your spinning sings. Happy knitting and creating 💚🧶💚
Oh I do love how you put that. Goes straight to the heart. Spinning that sings! Thank you so much for your kind words and I'm so happy you stopped by the podcast! 🙏🏽☀️
I adored this episode! I loved so much you talked about... From repairing clothing, to embroidery, to the griffendor wardrobe (I'm reading the series to my children right now!), and especially your deep love and connection to spinning. How do you prepare the Jacob fleece for spinning? I was generously gifted raw alpaca about a year ago and I've learned so much about preparing it! I would love to hear more about how you prep your fiber. Looking forward to the next episode!
Thank you so much for your very kind words about the podcast, and thank you for making time for me! I do adore Jacob fiber! I think you've given me a good idea on something I can talk about in the podcast, because I do have a large Jacob's fleece that really wants to be prepped and spun this year. ☀️🙏🏽
So very lovely as always to have you drop in Virgina, and thank you so much for your kind wishes. I really can't wait to leave these health woes behind me 🙏🏽
Hi Daki! The Floresta is perfect for spring! I'm waiting not so patiently for spring to arrive here. Woke up to 27F/-3C this morning. The trees aren't really doing much of anything yet, but the daffodils are up and there are hints of green. The sorting hats always put me into Ravenclaw. I'm OK with that. I admit I keep looking at that knitted Hedwig and thinking maybe I need a knitted owl. I have real owls who sit in the tree outside my bedroom window, but I can't cuddle them. Pretty sure their interest in looking in my window is the cats who are looking back out at them. I can't seem to make the cats understand that the big birdy is thinking kitten under glass sounds like a marvelous meal (they are indoor cats because we have a lot of predators around here). Have you ever noticed that each breed of sheep has a different scent? Wensleydale smells different than Teeswater, smells different than Jacob, smells different than Icelandic, smells different than Rambouillet, Romney, etc. (even after washing). Jacob and Romney are my favorites for smell and both of them are available to me locally. Lucky me! I hope you manage to get your iron levels up so you feel better. Until next time!
So lovely to hear from you as always, and to hear about all the seasonal changes around your home. I have been tempted by the knitted Hedwig many times myself, I cannot deny! I've never really put my hands to doll or creature knitting, but I have a feeling this summer might be an opportunity to give a few cute critters a try. Spring is really starting to warm up at last here after a very chilly start. But we are grateful for every drop of rain that falls, considering there's already summwr drought warnings for many parts of Washington State. I'm already turning the corner with my anemia and I am so so looking forward to feeling more like myself in the coming weeks. Best wishes to you and thanking you again for making time for the podcast ❤️❤️🙏🏽
@@woolandtheforest Boo to drought :( I may have spoken too soon. It’s 84F/29C today. I may melt. Have new baby chicks here. Spring has finally sprung. Glad you’re feeling better.
@@woolandtheforest You've not been around, so I figured I would reach out and check on you. Even if you aren't up to responding, just know you're thought of frequently. ♥
So lovely to hear from you and I apologise for the tardy response! It's been a rough year. Roughest yet I would say. Helluva ride I've been on as a mother and a woman. But here I am, back again with as much joy as I can muster. I'm so happy to read your words of concern and kindness and want you to know how much I appreciate the connection here. Sending best wishes! p.s. new episode dropping early tomorrow morning!
No need for apologies. Life happens and you’ve been ill. I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough year. Hard to believe how fast summer and fall went. Last we spoke we were waiting for spring. As of yesterday, I’ve got over 9” of snow on the ground and in just a week we’ve gone from unseasonably warm to unseasonably cold. Mother nature appears to be having the same internal thermostat problems I am. 😂
Lovely to see you again! I know as a mother and a wife it's hard to recognize our inherent value and give ourselves the gift of self care, but remember that a dry well quenches no one's thirst. If we don't care for ourselves first, we will soon be unable to care for anyone else. Years ago I had problems with anemia too. I learned that iron is best absorbed from a high protein meal. Try taking your supplements and/or high iron foods with eggs, meat, fish and fowl for best absorption. Also consider cooking in cast iron as it adds to your regular iron intake. Blessings to you and your family and increasing good health!
Oh Dianne, you cant know how much your words mean to me! I'm taking a screenshot of it just to carry it through my day, and for the wonderful advice you've given. Because I've had iron troubles for so long (although not as bad as the severe anemia I'm going through right now) I've heard all kinds of things about what I should or shouldn't be taking my iron with. With vitamin c, not with vitamin c, with nothing else at all etc. but what you're saying makes much more sense, since naturally the highest food sources of iron are also high sources of protein! Thank you so much for your message and for your kind concern Dianne, I'm so so grateful 🙏🏽❤️
I've just discovered your podcasts and I suscribe. Thank you for sharing your knitting and your thoughts. I love the way you talk about the fiber (spiritually, emotionnally etc.) So similar and complementary to how I experience it. It's a pleasure. Thanks.
Because I'm new to spinning, I had spun A LOT of fiber that went from super fine to chunky, and from undertwisted to too twisted. It looked like a mess! I used it to knit a simple garter stitch triangular shawl and it turned out beautifully. It's sort of "rugged" looking (not fine and delicate), but I love it. Maybe you can use your "tame art yarn" to knit something using garter stitch. You could use the fine single that is cream colored to add a simple edging to whatever you knit from the "art yarn."
That's a wonderful idea! Garter stitch shawls really are one of the best ways to use up handspun. Thank you so much for taking time to leave me a message 🙏🏽☀️
I really enjoyed this video because although I have been knitting for many years, I’ve recently become enamored with weaving and spinning as well and marveling at all the new doors this opens as far as being creative goes! As another person said, I too love your description of Sadhana and how it relates to your work. ☺️ Btw, I have been looking at your sewing machine! It’s very unusual looking…sort of antique but modern too. Do you talk about it in any of your other videos?
Thank you so much for your message! And no, I'm yet to introduce my iron lady here on the channel. She is indeed an antique Singer sewing machine. 124 years old this year! Such a precious thing. Thank you for your kind words and for the connectiong here. I really appreciate it!
Take good care of yourself sister 🫂 Loved your podcast, as always. Am still looking forward to the story about the Iron Lady one day! 😄 I think by know you can fill several podcasts with subjects and stories you didn't have time for 🤣 Another Amble & Knit? All in good time, hope you feel better soon 🍀 With love, Michèle
Oh tell me about it lovely! 😄 But things will happen when they're meant to for sure. Happy to report that I've finally turned the corner with this anemia struggle and I'm finally well on my way to recovery. You have no idea what a relief it is, after couple of very scary months! ❤️❤️🙏🏽
Oh gosh Daki I hope your anemia gets cleared up. That has to be frightening and frustrating. ❤️ I have to say that I envy you for where you live. I miss the little tiny blackberries that are a chore to find and painful to fight off the stinging nettles to boot. But they make the best jams and pies! You knits, handspun yarn and embroidery are beautiful. Take care. 🌷🪻🌸🌻🌹
Truly appreciate you taking the time to leave me a message Catherine, and for stopping by for the podcast. It has been frightening oftentimes, I won't deny that. Did you live in this corner of the world at some point?
@@woolandtheforest I was born and raised in Oregon but at one point my father was married to a woman who was a member of the Shoalwater Bay Indian tribe in Tokeland. I also had a boyfriend whose family owned a log cabin on Camano Island and picked loads of those teenie tiny blackberries with his mom for pie. Many fond memories. However I do not miss all the spiderwebs in the forest up there!
@@catherinecunningham7126 oh ditto on the blackberries and the spiderwebs 😄 here on the foothills of the Olympics tho there's nothing tiny about the wild blackberries. They get almost as big as cultivated ones depending on how much rain there has been in the winter and spring prior.

🌴☀️Hello you🙋🏽♀️I am somehow just seeing this new video in my feed, I am not able to articulate the emotion I feel knowing theres a new video…I’ve missed you so very much 🌸. I decided to purchased the Harry Potter knitting book as I’m a huge fan as well. My favs are the Dueling Club fingerless mitts, Buckbeak Pullover, House & Transportation Scarfs. I don’t believe I’ve ever purchased a knitting book having totally loved more than 2 projects wow! I’d love it in a future podcast chat about session if you could share how you learned to spin in a slightly detailed fashion. I’ve considered purchasing a wheel over the past 2 yrs (so costly goodness😱) & value your input on the resource(s) you leaned to (I’m guessing you grew up seeing it🤭first hand). About Anemia: Although it was used as a staple tonic in the home I grew up using Ferrol (is it 1 or 2 “ r’s ”) it has helped me a lot during my adult life also during the menses as well. Also, maybe incorporating some Ragi Millet in your routine. Sending you so much love, peace & creativity, I can’t say enough I’ve missed you terribly. On an intimate note, if I could choose who my mum would be if I return again…it would be you or a woman like you. Take good care sistren☀️🌴
Oh I adore the dueling club mitts as well!! The beating is so so pretty. You are so so kind to me sister, and I feel your word so deeply every time you leave a message for me here on my podcast. It's amazing really how connected one can feel over such a distance and through such a digital space. I'm so grateful for your presence here! ❤️❤️
Oh your words are so warming to my heart and I feel like I'm listening to an old friend! You've given me a very good idea here on something I can talk about in the next episode, which is planned to be dedicated entirely to my spinning. Actually I never did see anyone spinning when I grew up, as spinning of cotton is not really a big thing in Sri Lanka, not nearly the same significance as it is in our mother India. Even historically Sri Lanka has mostly taken spun cotton from India and woven it on the island. It is in the weaving and the loom work that's Sri Lanka really excels and stands apart even from India. So this connection I have to spinning, especially to a spinning wheel like this European version which I had never even seen till my own one arrived at my home, is something I simply cannot explain in any other way than genetic karmic memory.
Thank you so much for your advice, I have been working very hard on getting my iron levels up and it looks like I'm starting to see the results. And yes Ragi, which we call Kurrakan in Sri Lanka, is an important part of my diet. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you so much for your kind message! I've been away from social media for some time with lots going on. I've missed being here, and have a new episode coming out tomorrow.
Thank you for the lovely episode. I finally got the time to watch it till the end. I hope you’re getting well soon. My son suffered anemia in his teens because of aiha (an immune desease). Anemia can be frightening and draining indeed. He is fine now. Take care. I’ll be waiting very patiently for a next episode.
Thank you my friend! I'm only just returning to youtube and reading your lovely message here. It's been a difficult time away but I feel like I'm back in a very different way now. Warmest wishes to you and your family!

@@woolandtheforest it's my pleasure to be able to pass on my own hard won learnings. 😍

I've just discovered your podcasts and I suscribe. Thank you for sharing your knitting and your thoughts. I love the way you talk about the fiber (spiritually, emotionnally etc.) So similar and complementary to how I experience it. It's a pleasure. Thanks.
I'm so glad you found this in common! Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching the podcast 🙏🏽☀️
Your planned wardrobe sounds very exciting! I hope you were able to go and enjoy seeing the movie ❤
I did my dear Cary! It was amaaaazing! And im glad I took the opportunity when I could because I've not been so well since then. ❤️
@@woolandtheforest oh, I so want you to feel better ❤️❤️❤️
@@mywoolmitten Working hard towards it. Arik and I both 😊
@@woolandtheforest My love to you both ❤️
Because I'm new to spinning, I had spun A LOT of fiber that went from super fine to chunky, and from undertwisted to too twisted.
☺️
Btw, I have been looking at your sewing machine!
Take good care of yourself sister 🫂
Loved your podcast, as always.
Am still looking forward to the story about the Iron Lady one day! 😄 I think by know you can fill several podcasts with subjects and stories you didn't have time for 🤣 Another Amble & Knit? All in good time, hope you feel better soon 🍀
With love, Michèle
Oh tell me about it lovely! 😄 But things will happen when they're meant to for sure. Happy to report that I've finally turned the corner with this anemia struggle and I'm finally well on my way to recovery. You have no idea what a relief it is, after couple of very scary months! ❤️❤️🙏🏽
@@woolandtheforest ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Oh gosh Daki I hope your anemia gets cleared up. That has to be frightening and frustrating. ❤️
I have to say that I envy you for where you live.
@@woolandtheforest the blackberries that are really good are the tiny ones that crawl along the ground, not the big huge mounds.
@@catherinecunningham7126 oooh i think we don't have those in abundance on this property but I know what you're talking of now. 😊 Hope you get to visit these parts again some day!
Daki where are you?
We mis you hope you and your'e family are well.
Greetings from Holland
Thank you so much for your kind message! I've been away from social media for some time with lots going on. I've missed being here, and have a new episode coming out tomorrow.
If you want to check it out, there is a crochet Harry Potter pattern book by the same author 😊
Oooh yes! It's been on my wishlist for a while😁
Hi, love your podcast! For anemia try raw beets juice twice a week. It works for me, maybe it will help you too. :)
Beets arw definitely a big part of my recovery diet too! Thank you so much for your kind concern 🙏🏽☀️

@@AnneMueller-n4o and thank you so much for watching the pod today Anneliese!
