    A friend at college did this and she would leave us with her outrageous bill. Finally we called her rich parents and told them what she was up too. Her father was furious. The next time we decided to go out we went to a nice expensive place and she was super duper excited to dine and dash here. She failed to see her parents in the restaurant and her father had her car towed back to our town we went to college. She went to leave and found no car, we had hide and the manager of the restaurant came up to her and told her to pay up or get arrested. She freaked out on the manager and was relieved when she saw her father until he told her he made a deal with the manager. She had to wash all the dishes and pots and pans of the restaurant to pay for her bill and her free ride from them was over. He wasn't going to pay his daughter's bills or anything else if she continued to be entitled, drunk and stupid. She got a job at a local gas station to pay for her bills after this and never talked to us again.

      Idk about how it works in America, but where i live the spouse is only entitled to it if they contribute. So for example, a woman marries a widowed man who already has a paid off house, and she buys brand new windows and doors totalling £7'000. The fact that she spent money on improvements to the house would entitle her to either a part of it, or to have that money returned to her if the husband died and had any kids from the previous marriage.

      @@jupitersnoot4915 there's usually 3 times of legal marriage in most roman law countries (read most Europe except for uk)the concepts are full separation of goods, where each person own a thing fully and in a divorce they keep the items they paid for. There's the opposite where everything no matter where it came from is split usually 50/50, and the third is the one you mentioned, separated for everything created before the wedding and any inheritance is kept separate everything else is split 50/50

      It was a worthless island with zero marketable value, so of course, that so-called asset was the usable poison-pill strategy that the Grandfather used against her when he finalized the Will. What works in hostile takeovers also works in messy divorces. Marriage is a business, not an investment. You have an income asset and a depreciating asset. Guess which part of the marriage is the depreciating asset.

    Ha, I had a work acquaintance that loved to rack up the bill in a restaurant and then pressure everyone into credit card roulette, where one person gets stuck with the bill. Thing is he earned way more than me, being junior in the company and the thought of getting that bill was awful, but the peer pressure to pay was pretty significant. Well a few of us got to talking on this and hatched a plan. We chose a really expensive steak restaurant and then preceded to order champagne etc. On the promise of the cc roulette. Everyone was having fun and we probably racked up over a thousand dollars on the bill.
    What he did not know is I had excused myself from the table to go to the toilet and pulled the waitress to one side, told her of the plan and slipped her 20 bucks to pick the specific card we wanted - she was game.
    His face was priceless when his card was chosen. And my mate had the audacity to pipe up, "don't forget the tip too, i think 20% as the waitress has been awesome!!"
    He never played that game again...

    Ok here's the thing about the dine and dash friend, they never had to pay for her. All they had to do was point out to the waiter and management that they never said the bill was to be all together, that in fact each bill was to be separate, and they were not responsible for their friend's meal. Even if the restaurant called the cops the law would be on the diners side. Unless they specified in the beginning the bill was all on one then no one else is legally obligated to pay for anyone else. Then they could have given them the friends name and contact info and just left. You can't arrest someone for not paying for what someone else owes.

      @LadyBern 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not in my area. What's worse is that at some places the servers are held responsible and must pay for any dine and dashers out of their own tips and run the risk of getting fired.
      I recall on time a waitress had been very neglectful of our table because another table had racked up a $200+ bill and she assumed she was getting a big tip. One lady excused herself to the restroom and the two remaining stayed behind. When they sent the waitress back for dessert the other two calmly got up and left through the side door leaving the poor girl standing there with an overpriced thin slice of cheesecake. She asked us where they were since we were just 2 tables away and the restaurant was partially empty.
      When we told her that it seems that they had just walked out the poor thing just kinda buckled down into the previously occupied booth. While the manager and other waitress tried to handle the situation she quietly cried and said how she should have known, and that they were giving off red flags the entire time and repeating the price of the bill.
      I do believe the police were called but we paid it little mind, just ate our food, paid then left. It may seem cruel that we didn't leave her a big tip for all she had gone through but she had given us very poor service.

    If I _know_ I don't have $ to be dining out, then I don't go. Regardless if I want to hang out with a friend or not, I know I'm broke & don't expect other people to pay my portion. I wish other people thought the same way. That's when I wish karma gets them good!!

    Worth noting that on a $700 bill, gratuity was almost certainly automatically included.

    In what world would a partial inheritance of a family only use island be considered community property? There's no co-mingling of assets since it isn't used year round and they won't sell it, and unless the island earns some form of income that would be co-mingled, it seems unlikely that any domestic court would agree to this as a community property asset. Maybe the Canadian laws are different on this than US states.

    For the dine and dasher y’all should of called the cops and give them in the information for her dashing which it’s illegal to dine and dash and that would of been amazing revenge as she would go still had to pay all her bills pay for bail if she chose to bail out but also pay in spending time in jail
    Also should of told her family as they would more then likely hopefully be mad at her and even stop funding her

    I had an Ex wife just like that. We lived in a nice 4 bedroom, 3 bath house with a finished basement. After our 4 children were beginning to go out on their own, she decided she wanted to relive her young adulthood without and responsibilities. She left me to raise our 2 younger children and went on her way. She decided on divorcing me so had her lawyer send me papers. She wanted all the furniture, half the house, yada, yada. I went to a meeting with her and her lawyer. Should have seen the lawyer's face when he started going on about me buying out her half of the house. I told him there would be no buyout and no selling. I said that my parents weren't ready to sell their house. I thought he was going to explode. She got half the furniture, that was it. I sued her for child support and won that also.

    Dee's friends should have waited until she got into her car and then called the police to say there was a drunk driver driving erratically, that they say her drinking at a restaurant and watched her as she left.

    I’m surprised that bill didn’t have some sort of gratuity. Most restaurants have this in place for expensive checks to keep servers from getting screwed over

  • @christianmarshal6117
    @christianmarshal6117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I haven't had anyone pull the dine & dash on me but have run into something else a few times; the friend who "organizes" the bill so that they can stiff the server, using the tip to pay for their own meal.
