Man I love Korey (her guitar and keyboard skills, her hair, her style, etc.), but what's up with her voice here? She sounds like she's yodeling a few seconds off over her backing track . . .
I don't think people realize that Korey only uses playback live now, I'm sure she is well aware that she didn't kill it live here and probably has struggled a lot. She's handling three things, keys, guitar, and additional vocals, that's a handful. "Oh but Jen plays drums and sings, so Korey has no excuse." Some people are better at multi tasking.
The audio is good.. So that's good.. most of the time I watch these video's I put on just the live thing and do other stuff and watch once in a while some things, that's the beauty of it !! :)
So, all you hating on Korey, here's an obvious rationale: This is obviously NOT a professional video! So, duh, all their voices are going to sound off,weird, etc. you try singing while running around the stage, playing an instrument and sing at the same time! Without the filters, and such it's going to be very hard to make it sound like you're in the studio! Korey has an exotic voice. It's deep, alluring and mesmerizing! Jen's is beautiful as well, but nothing that makes it significantly stand out on its own!
and I don't care what anyone says...I love Korey's voice. It adds something very different and awesome to the sound of it. Just telling the truth...I absolutely love it.

I saw them 3 days ago at lifest in Wisconsin and he nailed the solo. And he did it with out strumming! He did hammer-ons the whole solo. I think he had a bad night

when a band records an album sometimes they will layer/record instruments that maybe they don't have live, like strings, extra guitars, extra vocals,pianos, synths, drums...the list could go on and on,, it doesn't mean they cant play live, its just so that the track sounds full when they play it live, like the album version.. :)
Gosh I love them...they are definite HEROes to me. They are not afraid to shout out the TRUTH. They just radiate the amazingness of God, in front of the whole world! They each add something different/awesome/unique to the band. Gosh, I just can't get over them lol

1) Thanks for the compliment! 2) I'm a FOH Engineer, plenty of bands want their studio recorded tracks in the background just to fill things up. The parts they can't cover we turn up louder on whatever playback device they're using so we can hear it over all, pretty much like what skillet's doing here. The broadcast mix here isn't that good, it sounds totally different live! Hope you understand :)
Well vocally live, technically speaking, yes she is. Can't deny it through this video. Not saying all videos are the same but in this video, absolutely.
Actually, I loved them during Collide and Comatose was my favorite due to the inclusion of the female vocals from Korey. But these live videos only prove that John's voice isn't as strong and Korey has unfortunately lost it completely. Jen's voice is just more powerful.
I already commented on this years ago, but the more I watch now, the more I’m wondering if korey just couldn’t quite hear herself. It’s loud on stage after all, and she might have been wearing earplugs. She wasn’t singing on time with her playback either, which makes me thing she couldn’t hear too well. The whole concert seemed to have sound issues, John’s bass was even louder during The Last Night than the guitars were. Or it could have just been an off night. She’s been lipsynching over playback for years now, so maybe she’s not comfortable singing live, or just genuinely just doesn’t great. Some people are only great with studio magic or softer things.
I think her voice is just worn out. Even if they added “studio magic” it wouldn’t make a difference cuz the whole belief that anyone can jump in a studio and sound great is false. (Not saying she’s bad) It’s just not how it works. But it has to be a worn out voice or a throat/vocal issue cause when you listen to live performances from when she first started all the way to when the live playback started, you can hear her voice slowly change. “Angels fall down” is a great example, mainly the part after the guitar solo. When you listen to 2001 performances than listen to a 2008 performance it’s obvious something is up. But she definitely can still sing. She still sings on albums, but it’s usually when she’s harmonizing with Jen on songs like “fire and fury” and “anchor” reimagined
Well obviously you feel the need to worship John just because he started the band. I'm not saying he is a bad singer, it's just that (probably due to age, touring schedules and how he sings) his voice is wearing out while hers is getting stronger. Not saying he shouldn't sing at all, but come one. Have you listened to the previews for Rise yet? "Salvation", "Fire and Fury", "Not Gonna Die"? Her voice is just stronger.
