Good installation video but lacks remounting or relocation of license plate. In NJ license plate in front is mandatory.

Looks like the boys at Rough Country used one of their RS9500 series winches for this install. That series was discontinued and moved onto the PRO9500 series. Part number PRO9500.
Guess this is out of the question for those of us who live in states that require front license plates 😥
That mount comes with a license plate mount that attached to the fair lead.

At this time from Rough Country no. Applications only exist for the 1st & 2nd generation Silverado 1500. (99-06 & 07-13).
My warn vr10 did not fit on the mounting plate, I will need to add spacers to make it work. A bummer considering this winch is not even the max the plate is rated for. The winch is hitting the angled steel joints that lead to the roller mount.
I had to cut the fairlesd gussets a little bit to fit my Apex 12
@@pappaclutch3266 I ended up using 1/4" thick steel spacers cut about 1 1/2" wide. So that worked for me.The Incredibly disappointing thing was when one of the plate mount holes I found was drilled too close to the steel lip on the bottom that did not allow the bolt head to move past it. This hole mounts the plate to the angled frame mounts on truck. Looking at the design of it, all the important bolts were good that deal with 90% of the forces. The hole in question would more of a factor on downward winching. The bolt is in and was ably to occupy all the Threads in the Nut but trying to tighten further would likely snap the bolt. I didn't want to cut into the plate because that would weaken it more than one bolt not tightened completely.
This is a great looking kit and for my needs, a much better option than a bumper, is this available for the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500? Thanks for this video

Will my 03 duramax support a 17,500 pound wench? I'm buying one but in looking on how to mount, the biggest wench I've seen anyone using is 12,000, thanks.
This winch kit will only support up to 12,000 lbs of pull. We were not able to find anything from our suppliers that supported beyond 16,500 for that year range. That does not mean someone out there doesn't make something, but we were unable to locate it.

How do you shift the winch?
Most winches will come with a corded remote which allows activation and use of the winch. however, if needed you can access the winch manually through the opening in the bumper above the winch.
Will this not fit on a 1998 model?

I'm in the same boat. I have a 2004 GMC 2500 HD. I can't find a hidden winch set up for it.

Where did you put the license plate
While not shown being used in the video, both Rough Country Hidden Winch Mounting Kits for Silverado applications include a mounting bracket that allows reuse of the front license plate.

Can it fit in lifted trucks 4x4?
What does the suspension of the truck have anything to do with the front mounts for the winch plate?
@@nathan9032 it'll sit in a different spot and wont line up as designed. The body is lifted but the frame remains at the same height.
It doesn't work with a body lift
Would this kit work on a 2009 Chevy Avalanche?
Unfortunately Rough Country does not offer this product for that application. The closest thing would be part number 1080 which fits 07-13 Silverado & Sierra 1500 models. Perhaps with some modification it could be made to work? But we're unsure of how much of a chore that would be, or if even reasonable.

It's my understanding that with slight modification this can be done quite easily. I read on one of the overlanding forums, someone used this exact mount and had to add a 1/4" steel plate spacer on either side and drill one new hole in the mount. The rough opening is approx 1/2" bigger on the 2500 according to them. I bought this setup for my '08 Duramax and plan to install this weekend. Hope this helps!

They actually installed the winch plate incorrectly, its supposed to set on the frame brackets not under them! Just sayin!!
I saw that too and I thought it was odd. Now the entire winch self-wt. is putting constant tension on the bolts.
The advertisement said that you do not need to take the bumper off the truck to install!!! False advertising!!!!!
Instead of forcing the consumer to CUT their plastic piece... why would you NOT include a pre cut piece for them? It makes little sense.
Cause it would Jack up the price. I for one, appreciate keeping the costs low
