Really refreshing to see how a tool can shine in the hands of true artists and professional artisans! Your whole team rocks! Very impressed to see how you quickly improvised your location shots, and also kudos to your video editor. Congratulations!
I wanna commemorate my previous comment with this one and say that you’re truly inspiring and helpful for the entire filmmaking community. Thank you Andyax
Thanks. So you are still happy with your Nikon camera, William Faucher (in our previous video) said he is still using his Nikon... Looks like when you first start using Nikon you stick with it.
@@Andyax Image quality, build and ruggedness is why I have used Nikon for years for photo. I did sell my Z6II to go to Sony for the stability and autofocus in video. Been wanting to get back into Nikon since trying out the Z9 and seeing how good it was. Now we get Z9 features in the Z8, that’s a win for Nikon photo and video users.
@@waynerm002did You noticed any big difference between the Z6II and the Sony?, I'm a Nikon user, very happy with My Z6ii, but i always wonder if the difference y just to bog?
The dynamic range in those backlit sunset shots where impressive, really cool what our “small” cameras can handle nowadays! Also, great edit on the music video! Also also: Vjus - Oslo is our studio.
Thanks Jason. Last time we shot with the Nikon Z9, we had the same wow experience when we looked at the colors. We normally shoot with Canon or Sony but there is something about Nikon colors.
Great video! I started shooting the Z9 for video on an Arctic expedition in the summer and again this winter in Antarctica. As soon as I got home I ordered the Z8 as well. Now I can shoot great video handheld in the field without changing lenses between the 2 cameras.
Det er utrolig å se en film og musikkvideo tatt opp rett ved siden av der jeg bor. Filming er hobbyen min, og jeg har alltid mye moro på denne kanalen.
Thanks for this video! Wanted to see the Z8 in use in handheld situation for the stabilization and video auto focus. This is a good showing of this camera. Looks like the stabilization for video still needs some work. I was hoping they would have done some work there.
I have this camera too now and its my first mirror less Im so excited what I can do with a good setup tbh I underestimated the cost of the gimbel storage etc but Im so happy with it :D
I wish you show us if z8 can give quality as you have at 15:54 (studio shoot). Because when I compare music video and the shot from studio, seems like z8 is not that good
Congrats guys this is amazing... yes camera looks good... but only when treated in such a great manner as presented here! Inspiring and passionate work from everyone! I presume the Z8 wasn't standing in your way, which is good 🙂. Came for the camera stayed because of the on and off the camera talent! Love from Finlandia!💜
That penguin got to close and then got sneak punched by the other one :D The slow-motion is incredible. Actually not a bad camera all around, Nikon is nice on their colors, and for video It's a nice thing. Glad to see them taking the lead and some areas.
I wonder if the limitations in batterylife and card space makes it difficult to record in 8k60 raw? Would have been great if one of the usbcs supported external recording.
Hei Andy nice video and I have to say I like the creativity it took me back a few years when I was still a wedding photographer with 2 studios one in yes Narvik and Harstad. Shooting weddings outside was kind of like your walk in Oslo, where to next what background and angle. The z8 is clearly a beast but I'm currently waiting for the z6iii as the z8 is a bit out of my budget at the moment. Good luck with all your productions and just a heads up if I see you on a shoot in Oslo I'm going to say hei Doug :)
In my opinion, the quality of footage from Z line in Nlog is better than what Sony or Panasonic offers. Sony might have an edge in DR and low light but it's only noticeable in very specific scenarios. I would still choose Sony for filming videos but I'm excited about what Nikon will release next.
I'm usually not early on your videos mostly because i save it for the end of the day when i can be in my room with headphones on and experience the videos. It's always so satisfying. I hope to work at your company one day, even just to experience it!
Freaking awesome and you guys are so talented. I just finally my first short video and used my Z8 just me making some iced coffee. It’s the first I have ever done on a camera and or ever tried to edit. I’m a portrait and wedding photographer who has been wanting to try some short video but have been afraid to try. I have a lot of work to do to get anything decent but on my own using a simple tripod and some hand held, and some very minor editing using a program I just tried for video (cyberlink powerdirector) I’m actually totally amazed what I created still and how fun it was. Like I said, I have a long way to go, a lot to do with shooting on my own and shooting myself several of my clips are out of focus do to the camera focusing on what was closer vs what I really wanted (like the coffee scoop, or more where my hands were not my wrist) I know this wasn’t the cameras fault I just need to practice making it focus where I want it when its me videoing something I maybe doing like making coffee. My face was never in the shot as it was more about just how I made a cup of coffee. Anyways, your video was amazing and inspiring. I love this camera for photos, now to continue to practice some short videos too. Thx and again I thought your video on the Nikon Z8 was awesome as was your subject.
Awesome first look guys, I think the finished music video has an awesome vibe to it. Are you using the Original Nikon LUT to convert the N-LOG to Rec. 709/2020? I'm curious on your settings and would love to see a detailed walkthrough your node trees (CST, curves, etc.). Keep up the great work!
@@Andyax Thanks! Doesn’t have to be its own video, just a short sequence. Maybe you can squeeze it in on the next episode of the sci-fi shoot ♥️🙏🏼 Either way great work.
What I’m most impressed with is no gimbal and you still got some clean shots, did you feel the stability was as good as it looks?? Really curious on your thoughts about how it was filming without a gimbal
Fantastic! And now I want a Z8 to b-cam my Komodo. BUT - what dolly is that you're using with the rubber tracks and sit-down platform? Do you like it? Does VJUS own it?
Great job guys. In your view, how close is the video AF to Sony’s? Trying to figure which to go for out of this or the FX3. Also, what iso were you using in low light, and do you feel you struggled at night?
Great video, I really enjoy every new video you produce. You can see that was a lot of work and fun at the same time! I wish I could visit your studio someday!
Hello Andy. Got a question do you keep the finger pressed when recording? I see the finger all the time and makes me think if finger needs to kept pressed. Also what af and setting for recording you use?
how did you work out the exposure? i am struggling to get good exposure with the z8 display..you didn't not seem to use any external monitor for exposure? which log lut you use?
I wish i were you guys im really new to film industry and im planning to make a movie i dont have the gear tho😢 so i probably have to wait a whole year to maybe Get the money for the movie and Also i dont have any actors and nobody in my crew are able to film the movie so i probably cant film it wery soon but keep up the good work i love your videos and i have been watching your videos pretty long now on my other account❤ i find your videos very inspirerende og informerende og de har hjulpet meg mye med gode ideer😊
R5c is good. The z8 should have better dynamic range and coloring as the R5c only records in c log 3. You can film in Raw and have resolve interpret that has c log 2. Nikon made some new Red luts for their N Log. You also get prores raw so there are more flavors to film with Nikon.

One thing I like about the Vjus/Andyax team is that they are so casual and professional at the same time!
This is probably the most comforting review of the Z8 so far. Really into the vibes. Every frame is clean and professionally produced.
Wow! I love seeing such amazing images from a small crew, small lights and a small camera. Great job 👏

Hot card

What do you think about the Canon R5C camera? It has similar parameters.
R5c is good. The z8 should have better dynamic range and coloring as the R5c only records in c log 3. You can film in Raw and have resolve interpret that has c log 2. Nikon made some new Red luts for their N Log. You also get prores raw so there are more flavors to film with Nikon.
