This is the best tutorial on the KK board + Maschine software period. Great work! 👌 It’s a nice change from the mouse + keyboard in a DAW, not as quick but way more fun
Hope NI releases a combined keyboard,16 pads, and audio interface some day. I'd like to downsize my MK3 and Arturia 49 key MIDI controller so I can just have one instrument on my desk.
That would be dope, I just don't know if they would combine pads and keys in one instrument, as they've always kept them separate. More comprehensive control over Maschine and Ableton would be dope too.
@@v3zMedia It sure looks dope, I would give it try but between Ableton Live and Maschine I don't really have the time or need for another platform. Plus I've used MPC's and I'm not too fond of the workflow, the slow touchscreen and the excessive menu diving.
Exactly, I’ve been waiting for that kind of KK S49 “Studio” with 4 to 8 faders (or even touchstrip like the Maschine JAM) and the 16 Pads and audio interface of the Maschine mk3… all that combined in a all-in-one keyboard. So we would just have to grab one controller, plug it with just 1 cable and then have everything we need to work on Maschine and your favorite DAW. Now that Akai made the MPC Keys, I hope that NI will be tempted to make a competitive solution by having a KK “Studio”, available in 49, 61, 76 and 88 keys. That would be PERFECT!
@@LowHeatBeats So, do you think that MK3 and S49 MK2 are still worth it in 2022 or are there any hints that NI will come up with new Maschines and keyboards, soon?

Great video thank you. 1 thing I didn’t find is a way to edit the notes within a pattern from the s61, not just clear them. I guess if I need to do that with any depth I’ll have to hook the Maschine hardware back up.
@@danlook8732 No, unlike the MK2 the MK3 doesn't have Maschine integration at all. It only works as a regular MIDI keyboard for playing keys but that's it.
That's a very vague question, I don't know what you're using it with or if you know the basics of operating such a device. There are instructions on the NI website on how to use it if you don't know the basics.
Great video.. as always Thanks for putting in the time to explain.. My Dads just bought an S88 I take it it’s the same principle? Could I also ask a question? When he was on Vintage organs the range of notes isn’t the full 88 keys? Would you know the reason for this? Do I need to press something to allow full range? Many Thanks… Nick
S88 should be exactly the same, only the keys differ between different models. Organs usually have 61 keys if I'm not mistaken. So when using a realistic sampled library, any notes outside of the range of the real instrument will not play a sound.
Thanks so much for your reply.. I love your videos, I myself have a mk3 and watch lots of your tutorials.. which have helped me so much.. Thanks for your time ☝️
You can switch to Ableton control with the MIDI button and then the transport control will work as usual. Then you can switch back to controlling Maschine VST with the Plug-in button.
Missing sampling option which is major drawback, realised it when i made the purchase. Its not a deal breaker for me as i have maschine studio but man if this thig had sampler for which there is no sensible reason not to have one as its just controller.
I have it and I couldn't find a way to access the Arranger. I don't think it's meant to be used without touching your mouse like the Maschine MK3, so some features are simply not available.
Thanks for your content very helpful. I have a s61 I wanted to add a mikro mk3 . If I add the mikro would that make it equivalent to a maschine mk3? Thanks
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. It won’t be quite an MK3 because you still won’t be able to access the sampe editing section from the controller + some other stuff. Still it will be a very good combo and you can of course edit samples from your computer display with the mouse.
İ have Maschine mk2 so i could use the Maschine software, if i were to buy the s49mk2 i suppose. But i want to give away my maschine mk2. Could I still work in maschine software with the s49mk2 only or do I always need to hook up a maschine as well?
Have a Maschine Mikro Mk3 and thinking of adding an NI keyboard. I like the lights and screens on the S49 but they are pretty pricey… Maybe Santa will hook me up! 🎅 🎁
I hope Santa does hook you up! The displays and lights are very nice indeed but for me the amazing feel of the keys is the biggest selling point of the S49.
if you have a the maschine mk3, is there an added benefit for having the komplete kontrol mk2? It seems like maschine mk3 can do everything the komplete control can but not vice versa. Only added benefit is the obvious key bed. Is that correct? If I already have a midi keyboard and I want to take advantage of NKS, it would make more sense to get the maschine mk3 Im guessing.
This is true for the Maschine software. For other DAWs (I use Ableton Live) KK has better integration + ability to control and browse NKS instruments with the KK plugin.
@LowHeatBeats at the minute I only work on Maschine MK3. However, I would like to add a midi keyboard to make full use of VSTs like the various Session Guitarist plugins. Would the S61 MK2 or S61 MK3 best compliment my set-up?
Any keyboard will work with Maschine. The Kontrol MK3 doesn’t gave Maschine integration like the Mk2, so it will work like any regular keyboard, so you won’t be taking full advantage its features if you don’t use a DAW. So I’d say if you can still find an MK2 it would probably a better value and cheaper too.
Another great video, love your content. Just got myself a MK 49 to complement my Maschine MK3. Strangely though, I often "lose" the Maschine Paramaters on the KOmplete Kontrol. When I create a channel, all works fine .. but as soon as I add another one, I lose the "connection" to the y keyboard .. the tracks still play but I can't see anything on the screen and browsing doesn't work anymore. Any idea how to fix that? Thx a ton in advance
Hey! Thanks for this. Wondering if there's a way to snap to zero without it playing automatically (Shift+PLAY)? As well, the encoder on the Maschine, if I remember correctly, will scrub the bars left and right... is there a way to do that on the KK?
Shift+play restarts playback from the beginning. The encoder doesn't scrub the bars (even if you hold shift, which is how it works on the Maschine MK3).
Hey there, thanks for the Vid. I have one question: Is it possible to get external Audio sources inside the Machine Software with Komplete Kontrol? I want to make a live loop setup and additional to drums, synth and stuff, I want to record my audio guitar, or vocals, using my audio interface. IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Hey man great video as always, I’m just curious if you can switch between groups that are already established by holding the track button and clicking the corresponding white button on top? You make awesome videos! Thanks for your comments about the Maschine MK3 vs MPC from yesterday too. Appreciated. Which is what I use. I'd have to use the Maschine VST within my DAW to use it correct? To use features such as scale and chord mode right? Basically, would this be great way to go or do you think or would I just be better off buying a standard MIDI keyboard like an M-Audio Oxygen to pair with Studio One 5 or FL Studio? I'd like to know if you think it's worth it. Basically trying to decide of it's a worthy pairing. I've never used NI ecosystem before. Appreciate your time and keep up the good work. I'm subscribing!
