One would think the bikers, would have, noticed, they where getting pleasure, than again. it's just a yarn.. I actually live in the town where LeMoyne crematory is located!! Dr. LeMoyne's house still stands and is open for visiting. They just refurbished the crematory as well and opened it last weekend for a tour and spooky stories!

My very best high school friend (Hindu) died a few years ago, and her husband hit the button on the crematorium. I took her Mom out of the room to make it easier on her. She was not embalmed but treated with many spices, and she looked beautiful. Just wanted to share.
I would really love it you could interview some indigenous people about their death and burial traditions! I feel like with all of the talk of "Indiana Burial Grounds" there are a lot of miscommunications and the indigenous people of the Americas have some really beautiful death traditions 💕

My younger brother died from a motorcycle accident in October. His ashes were divided among a number of small urns, which were passed around to everybody who was close to him. I'm planning on spreading his ashes in Boot Hill, in nearby Tombstone, Arizona. Our older brother intends to spread the ashes over our parents' graves in Cayucos, California, while his wife and kids are going to spread him along the Oregon coast. Well, that's my brother all over! Love you Tim, and I'll miss you forever.
Boot Hill is a great place! Letting him catch some cold ones with the outlaws, sheriffs, and pretty cool prostitutes doesn’t sound too bad. A man who died traveling, traveling all around. ❤️

The corpse has to look directly into the eyes of Medusa to be turned into stone. It’s relatively quick once you get the corpse to focus their eyes, but the waiting list would be too long for this to have been practical.

Caitlin is soooo awesome. She and this channel got me through a really tough time of my life. I found her in early 2018 and then was diagnosed with brain cancer in October and my father died of metastatic lung cancer 2 weeks before Christmas. Caitlin's frank and candid talk about death helped me immensely to deal with the funeral industry in the wake of my father's death and I was able to make sure that his wishes that he not be mutilated or embalmed before cremation werefollowed. We shaved him in his death bed and sat with him all day talking to him and sharing stories. The only thing the funeral home did was to dress and wrap him for his viewing the next day. Never would had pulled that off without knowing what to say and ask per Caitlin. She also helped me be okay with the idea of my own mortality in the face of my cancer diagnosis. Long story short, she has saved my life! I love Caitlin now and forever!
As a fellow deep voices gal (though mine is not as magnificent as yours…because I teach middle school I actively pitch it higher because it seems to be off putting to them) I very much admire your elocution and confidence. Mine gets progressively lower the more tired (obviously) I get, but also the more angry. That’s another reason I pitch higher as a teacher. When it drops, they know they picked the wrong one today. I actually have to practice when it’s time for school to start back! It’s bothered my mother my entire life but I love it.

I was really happy to stumble on this video! I actually saw the cremains and visited the crematory at the LeMoyne House where The Washington County Historical Society is located. I was there to pick up old newspapers for the Pennsylvania Newspaper Project and we got the tour. It was super interesting. LeMoyne is interesting in his own right as well.

Probably a faster assurance of death? My grandmother had the same fear of being buried alive. Her solution? "Make sure they embalm me and embalm me good before they put me in the hole"!.
@@DrKlausTrophobie There is a non-zero chance of being buried alive. It has happened, it continues to happen, and will continue to happen. It's rare though, so the chances of being buried alive are very low. Embalming makes sure you're dead, but then again, so would cremation.

Just want to say I loved this video. We recently cremated my father, when he passed away in September. He was the first member of my family to be cremated. It was simple and cost effective. Coming from a background of traditional "Christian" burials, We were leery about cremation at first, but it just seemed to fit our needs at the time and I know Dad would have loved the little memorial service we had. He & I used to watch Ask A Mortician videos together and they gave us a better understanding of the options we had. Thank you so much, Caitlin! If not for the work you've put into your channel, mine is one family that would've been far less prepared to deal with that loss. He got to experience the good death! ❤😢❤
I don't wish to be indelicate, but where did you choose to place your dear father's remains? I'm a senior and want to be cremated, but I don't have an idea where my cremated remains should be placed. I want the easiest and most cost-effective means to dispose of my mortal remains. I want the most cost-effective method for my children. which will cost the least and expose them to the least difficulty in terms of cost and emotional anguish.

I think she wants to be cremated too and have their ashes buried together...but right now his ashes are in a nice little urn in our living room. We took some ashes to put into jewelry urns for me, my brother, and sister.

I never wanted to read it, but when he was gone, it helped so much to read his words to me. I'm going to do the same thing for my son and daughter. When my dad died, I was in such a fog I couldn't think properly. Having that notebook made me feel like he was still with me, telling me what to do. You're right, it helps to plan ahead.

@@davidroosa4561 I can’t find definitive information for the time this occurred at the moment, so it might not be the case for this situation specifically (if someone knows otherwise, please share, I’m ravenous for random details of vampire history lol), but vampires of the western tradition were originally corpses that came back to life, hence practices where dead people who were suspected of vampires or were thought to be at risk of becoming a vampire would be buried with bricks in their mouth, their limbs tied/cut off, iron or wooden stakes to nail them into their coffin, or any number of other things intended to keep the corpse from rising from their graves and/or stop them from being able to consume blood. That was an information dump that you might not be interested in lol, but all this to say, by this belief, if you burn a corpse to ash, there’s no way for it to then rise from its grave as a vampire and hurt/kill people, so that’s probably why the guy was super into the idea of cremation!

@@mksabourinable Depends on the particulars of the smoke and the ventilation of the oven... It takes an average of 3 minutes for a person to die of oxygen deprivation once the heat of the fire in a preheated crematorium has seared the lungs to a degree to no longer process oxygen... If you ask me, that's a LONG time to lay there wishing you'd die already. I've been burned... 2nd and 3rd degree over 25% of my body. Trust me. It SUCKS! BUT waking up (if you wake) in the darkness of the coffin, with a slower asphyxia to set in... Yeah, you've got longer for the claustrophobia to bug you out, and in the dark with only your nightmares to keep you company, it could seem a lot longer... BUT it might also be easier to just go back to sleep and try and forget the whole thing. At least, you wouldn't necessarily be failing utterly to scream while your flesh cooked off. The truth is, it's hard to pick which would be truly "the lesser of two evils" in this one. ;o)

My very best high school friend (Hindu) died a few years ago, and her husband hit the button on the crematorium. I took her Mom out of the room to make it easier on her. She was not embalmed but treated with many spices, and she looked beautiful. Just wanted to share.

The earliest attraction in the united kingdom was a cave that once you left an item in the water for a while it became encased in " Stone " I think limestone covered the items over time ... Maybe the same kinda theory

My younger brother died from a motorcycle accident in October. His ashes were divided among a number of small urns, which were passed around to everybody who was close to him.
I'm planning on spreading his ashes in Boot Hill, in nearby Tombstone, Arizona. Our older brother intends to spread the ashes over our parents' graves in Cayucos, California, while his wife and kids are going to spread him along the Oregon coast.

The corpse has to look directly into the eyes of Medusa to be turned into stone. It’s relatively quick once you get the corpse to focus their eyes, but the waiting list would be too long for this to have been practical.

Even down to the way you include your sponsorships are creative and unique. Caitlin is soooo awesome. She and this channel got me through a really tough time of my life. I found her in early 2018 and then was diagnosed with brain cancer in October and my father died of metastatic lung cancer 2 weeks before Christmas. Caitlin's frank and candid talk about death helped me immensely to deal with the funeral industry in the wake of my father's death and I was able to make sure that his wishes that he not be mutilated or embalmed before cremation werefollowed. We shaved him in his death bed and sat with him all day talking to him and sharing stories. The only thing the funeral home did was to dress and wrap him for his viewing the next day. Never would had pulled that off without knowing what to say and ask per Caitlin. She also helped me be okay with the idea of my own mortality in the face of my cancer diagnosis. Long story short, she has saved my life! I love Caitlin now and forever!

As a fellow deep voices gal (though mine is not as magnificent as yours…because I teach middle school I actively pitch it higher because it seems to be off putting to them) I very much admire your elocution and confidence.
Mine gets progressively lower the more tired (obviously) I get, but also the more angry. That’s another reason I pitch higher as a teacher. When it drops, they know they picked the wrong one today. I actually have to practice when it’s time for school to start back! It’s bothered my mother my entire life but I love it.
Teachers have my utmost respect. That shit is tough. I love my deep voice and the fact that men are put off by it, tbh. It's always pretty funny when people throw their insecurity in your face without realizing it

@@DrKlausTrophobie There is a non-zero chance of being buried alive. It has happened, it continues to happen, and will continue to happen. It's rare though, so the chances of being buried alive are very low. Embalming makes sure you're dead, but then again, so would cremation.

Just want to say I loved this video. We recently cremated my father, when he passed away in September. He was the first member of my family to be cremated. It was simple and cost effective. Coming from a background of traditional "Christian" burials, We were leery about cremation at first, but it just seemed to fit our needs at the time and I know Dad would have loved the little memorial service we had. He & I used to watch Ask A Mortician videos together and they gave us a better understanding of the options we had. Thank you so much, Caitlin! If not for the work you've put into your channel, mine is one family that would've been far less prepared to deal with that loss. He got to experience the good death! ❤😢❤

I don't wish to be indelicate, but where did you choose to place your dear father's remains? I'm a senior and want to be cremated, but I don't have an idea where my cremated remains should be placed. I want the easiest and most cost-effective means to dispose of my mortal remains. I want the most cost-effective method for my children. which will cost the least and expose them to the least difficulty in terms of cost and emotional anguish.

I think she wants to be cremated too and have their ashes buried together...but right now his ashes are in a nice little urn in our living room. We took some ashes to put into jewelry urns for me, my brother, and sister.

I never wanted to read it, but when he was gone, it helped so much to read his words to me. I'm going to do the same thing for my son and daughter. When my dad died, I was in such a fog I couldn't think properly. Having that notebook made me feel like he was still with me, telling me what to do. You're right, it helps to plan ahead.

@@davidroosa4561 I can’t find definitive information for the time this occurred at the moment, so it might not be the case for this situation specifically (if someone knows otherwise, please share, I’m ravenous for random details of vampire history lol), but vampires of the western tradition were originally corpses that came back to life, hence practices where dead people who were suspected of vampires or were thought to be at risk of becoming a vampire would be buried with bricks in their mouth, their limbs tied/cut off, iron or wooden stakes to nail them into their coffin, or any number of other things intended to keep the corpse from rising from their graves and/or stop them from being able to consume blood.
That was an information dump that you might not be interested in lol, but all this to say, by this belief, if you burn a corpse to ash, there’s no way for it to then rise from its grave as a vampire and hurt/kill people, so that’s probably why the guy was super into the idea of cremation!

Caitlin has a great disposition on death and dying. She's extremely informative and knowledgeable about this subject. Caitlin should get an Oscar for her videos and performances. She's hardly dead-pan or stiff in her approach in explaining such a tough subject. It's really terrific! 😂🥃🚬👍

Well my theory on this is if I somehow woke up in the process of being cremated it would be over very fast, unlike if I woke up buried 6 ft under.
Idk being burned alive while comatose sounds better than waking up in a coffin. Bc like.... You'd die from the fire before you knew what was happening, but waking up in a coffin 6ft under? Yike 😬

Most cases of being burned alive involve someone who was in bad way, like comatose or something, where they had a faint pulse.
Also smoke inhalation makes you pass tf out, so....
@@mksabourinable Depends on the particulars of the smoke and the ventilation of the oven... It takes an average of 3 minutes for a person to die of oxygen deprivation once the heat of the fire in a preheated crematorium has seared the lungs to a degree to no longer process oxygen... If you ask me, that's a LONG time to lay there wishing you'd die already.
I've been burned... 2nd and 3rd degree over 25% of my body. Trust me. It SUCKS! BUT waking up (if you wake) in the darkness of the coffin, with a slower asphyxia to set in... Yeah, you've got longer for the claustrophobia to bug you out, and in the dark with only your nightmares to keep you company, it could seem a lot longer... BUT it might also be easier to just go back to sleep and try and forget the whole thing. At least, you wouldn't necessarily be failing utterly to scream while your flesh cooked off.
The truth is, it's hard to pick which would be truly "the lesser of two evils" in this one. ;o)
