My Father loved all the old westerns and gangster films..One of his favourites was 'Shane', the bar shoot-out scene, with the low down yankee liar 'Wilson' (the amazing Jack Palance)..❤️☮️
@user-oc4in4nz6v Mature was a good actor, but doc Holliday was weak in this movie. He was outdrawn by Wyatt Earp. The real Wyatt was not as fast as Doc Holliday.
My aunt was a big John Wayne fan old westerns are good , I lean more towards the B rated horror movies , and sci-fi the original twilight zone is really good for a series 👌🏻🍻🇺🇸
No suprise I never heard of it myself till a few years ago. And only found out by accident John Ford Made it. It has a little too much singing but not terrible. Thanks for watching and commenting
In every telling, the actor who gets the role of Doc Holliday gets the best role. Victor Mature, Kirk Douglas, Val Kilmer and the others. Doc Holliday is more conflicted and interesting. He is more anti-hero than hero. In D&D terms, he is Chaotic Good. Basically good, but flawed and unpredictable. So, our eyes go to him more than Wyatt. I liked Mature over Fonda, Kirk Douglas over Burt, and Val Kilmer over Kurt Russell.
The mistake in this flick was Wyatt outdrew Doc Holliday. Wyatt was tough but he was nowhere near the gunman that Holliday was plus Mature & Fonda was the two stars. You don't downplay one you keep both on an even level 😮
I would agree with everything but toughness on Doc Holiday. I have traveled all the routes he traveled on a horse ( I was in an ac vehicle) and he was for sure one tough guy. Almost unimaginable today. Thanks for watching
I agree I think back then they never really took it as far as today. As another person mentioned Fonda may have played the part better he certainly could have looked sickly for sure. Thanks for a great comment.
@@Mr.Brutiss This is strictly based on my own maybe narrowminded opinion, but the only role I liked Fonda in his entire movie portfolio, was as juror #8 in 12 angry men. I come to despise the character due to the self-righteous nature of it, but he played it well. I think Juror #3 Lee J Cobb dominated that movie btw.
@@WintersWarI agree he was great in 12 angry men but I enjoyed him in many movies. Warlock, Rounders with Glenn ford, Tin star, The wrong man, Fail safe I may be bias 😂

Wow great movie memories 👏
A Superb Film, my late dad loved it
I very much agree . I have probably seen it 50 times so much better than the dreck they make now-a-days
VIictor Mature was famously self-deprecating about his acting ability, but he was a superb Doc Holliday in "My Darling Clementine."
I agree it was a nice change from the standard western cast

@@ohlordherewegoagain - I believe he was intended as a more nuanced character.

Clint Eastwood is my favourite

@@cindymote1927I think The outlaw Josie Wales was Clint Eastwoods best movie
A well made movie by a master film maker.
Here here
Excellent portrayal of how the power dynamics shifted from Doc to Wyatt in an instant.
Spot on thanks for commenting 😀
Victor Mature's greatest role. My favourite part is when he quotes Shakespeare. A great film, like most all of John Ford's.
I would agree 2nd would be Kiss of Death. Thanks for watching more to come
@@Mr.Brutiss I recently watched KOD and Clementine- he is awesome in both.
Fabulous
Thank you
Also, because he has TB , Doc is a doomed character.
He defies Fate every moment.
We cannot help admire that, knowing his Doom.
No doubt he is always tempting fate

Ha ha yes that twilight zone kicks ass .
Great clip 💪🎬👏
Thanks a bunch ☺️

John Ford (the director) knew Wyatt Earp.
Wow that is really interesting 🤔
Which is why it is so annoying how many facts he got wrong.
@@petersearls4443Perhaps he just sought to use his artistic license 🤔
@@Mr.Brutiss obviously that is what he did. But the first time I I watched it I was yelling at the screen most of the time since he got so much wrong.
I don't believe I know of this movie. An omission I now intend to correct. Thank you for providing me a service,

I fully agree I think Fonda would have made an interesting portrayal
Great western. But the number of mistakes made by Ford, he might as well have told a fictional story.
Yes it was pretty much fiction with famous names.
Ford wasn't trying to make a documentary, just an entertaining Western.
Fonda would have been much more appropriate as Doc.
It would have been interesting for sure
Too bad he lived in the old west, in another era, Doc Holiday could've played middle linebacker for the Colts.
That is true he was quite masculine in this representation 🤣
Quite buff for a person with “consumption”, built more like a Samson…
Yes maybe back then in movies they did not take that into account. Thanks for your comment
lol

What does Fonda say just before sliding the pistol back to Ward Bond?
The transcript is hopeless.
He said brother Morgs gun I believe

Sounded like "put some bullets in it"
great cast, but never could get into fonda's roles. Everything he did he seemed miscast. I've seen hem all btw.
I would say Fonda was the quintessential 'delicate genius ' ✨️ I agree
Having muscular Mature cast as the sickly Doc Holiday is a ridiculous job of miscasting.
