    The people who say you can't 1-shot anymore are wrong, you still can. It's just far more difficult to do with just hook + shot. I find it's easier to 1-shot a reaper than a cass, due to how reaper's head hitbox isn't shrouded by shoulders. You basically need to land most if not all of your pellets to headshot.

      But this isn’t true either, not from my hours testing in the workshop. Reaper and Mei are easier to shoot down, but you can’t get the 250 HP one tap when hooked within 4m, unless it’s a 1m hook. Crits multiplier nerf is responsible. One shots on Solider, Ana, and Baptiste from long hooks have become impossible to me, whilst McCree and Symmetra have become more frequent.

      @@connordavis5847 Again, it's still not an ability used off CD. Hog will usually wait to use it because it's the threat of using hook that makes space.

    For those who’re curious, characters like Junkrat and Lifeweaver are still vulnerable to the One-Shot hook combo due to their larger hitboxes (or in Junkrat’s case, his head hitbox), so it’s still possible.
    Ironically, the trap makes it so you can Two-Shot people instead just by yoinking them into the trap, popping them up and just shooting them in the air. Sooooo.... Roadhog hasn’t really changed all that much, to be honest. He can sustain himself a bit better, but his counters still counter him.

      There’s nothing ironical about that. It’s still a one shot, dragging an enemy over the trap and a single blast from the gun kills them. No one should hook onto the trap and wait for the knock up to then shoot.

      Tbf his counters aren’t as strong bc his healing can’t just be all out countered and stopped like before, it just comes back after 1 second if it’s cancelled. And he has some CC of his own to fight back against some of them.

    My big thing is that Pigpen feels like a nothing ability sometimes
    The only time that it feels impactful is if I’m hooking someone directly into it, feel like it should have a bigger activation radius so that you can use it more to potentially give your backline some extra protection
    Breather feels like the most impactful change to Hog of this entire update

      I don’t think flats got a one shot the entire game (they were always already weakened or he had a damage buff)

    the rework shouldve been they bring back the oneshot, but he has new passive called "heartattack" where you can randomly die anysecond by chance

    One tip I would say is there are a lot of times I'm seeing where you kinda forget to move trap or use it at all, I was finding that generally you want to grt into the habit of just trying to throw it whenever you get a hook, it really is just a throw it if you can

    I really like the combination of primary and secondary fire. Pigpen is a nice addition too. There's actually a lot of ways to use it if you get creative. The self healing working like bastion's self repair is nice, but it feels like it doesn't do enough to keep him up if a fight when compared to other tanks. It also doesn't help that it takes 12 seconds to fully recharge, but I found that taking shorter puffs helps with that.

    Honestly, having played against him in a few matches, it feels way more competitive now. Not just getting hooked = death, but can still do a significant amount of damage if played well.

    I've been treating it like a junk trap (or how I use junk traps) + setting up pulls. It's been working very well for me. I also tend to drop it on myself when I'm getting pushed to hold an advantage.

    I feel like I actually like the changes. The one shot is still possible but is far easier if you do it onto the pig pen, which if you put it through a door to your side or something so the enemy can’t destroy it then it gives you a use for the turn 90 degree hook technique, cause you can yank them away onto the pen and even if they’re tanky and you don’t get the one shot they’re separated from their team and slowed in front of you, it seems like it’s meant to put emphasis on thinking through your gameplay a bit more instead of just unga bunga one shot

      I’ve used this strat to deal with mercys my teammates can’t kill or any targets my team mates can’t deal with. I’m a terrible sniper and so are my friends so this is kinda the way we kill mercy phara

    What I love doing with PigPen is laying it, hooking someone into it like you did, then just spray them...

    bind both left AND right click to shoot for hog, then put the heal back on its old e button, then put the trap literally anywhere else that you like. it'll help if you're stuck messing up from old muscle memory.

    The fact that you can heal 300 hp and wait a few seconds for it to recharge and heal 300 hp again immediately is just bullcrap already. So the fact that Blizzard wants to BUFF HIS HEALING makes me wanna jump off a bridge.

    The reason the pigpen deals less damage of they're hooked into it is bc when it launches them in the air, they miss about a second of the damage compared to being next to it.

    Yesterday was a nightmare for ranked. Every hog was completely ineffective. No one knew how to play the rework, but just decided to jump straight into comp to figure it out.

    For the first part with the pigpen and the ai tracer she wasn’t dying sometimes because she was actually landing on top of the centerpiece. I’m guessing the damage is related to the proximity to the wires themselves, not the center. When the tracer landed on the top it shot her up a bit and raised the distance just enough to take a couple less damage and be able to just survive a hook afterwards. Very unlikely that would happen in real game tho and it’s only a difference of like 10 damage so I don’t think it needs changed

      No it's just a bug, the trap doesn't do 1-tick of it's damage. She should take 150dmg from the wires.
      But when she gets the little upwards boop, she doesn't take damage then because the trap is supposed to be electrifying the terrain - she's in the air.
      I hate the little boop upwards, it's totally meaningless aside from messing up your own and your team's shots.

    3:28 Soldier isn’t on the ground, he’s on a platform. That’s why he seems as tall as hog. That also might be why the hook+trap combo wasn’t working as expected.

    Hog feels more focused now. Pre-rework Hog was sorta running around with no clear impact until you hook and kill a guy, which made you feel useless until you did that. Played Hog a lot and unironically wallowed in pity thinking I was a burden to my team with no utility besides hook.
    This wasn't an issue until OW2. OW1 Hog was more like a brute DPS so he had unique identity there, but after OW2, his lack of depth became way more obvious. Made him play rather stale as a solo tank since all he did was kill people, much like DPS. He had no way to help Support, which is very unique in a bad way since he had nothing to make up for it. Now he kinda does.
    This rework creates a clear gameplan now that you have the trap to play around. He feels even more like a bully tank which fits his character. Pull baddies into a room with good trap placement and they'll have a fatass and a trap between them and a fulfilling future. Seems very demoralizing, which is such Roadhog thing to do.
    Also, I'd like a way to manually activate trap so you can create some uniquely yucky situations. Would be an easy way to push the skill ceiling a bit higher. I kinda wished Whole Hog was reworked since it never synergized with Hog since day one, but alas, it didn't happen. Stings but it's whatever.

    It seems like poking is worse in that 3 meters right after the old right click used to burst but is far more reliable for shorter and much longer distances now

    I have gotten used to right clicking b4 I throw my hook out as part of my combo to confirm kills, new hog shotgun just makes it easier and more consistent to get that pre hook poke in.

    In my opinion, the change did nothing to make Roadhog feel like a tank, quite opposite he's more like a big DPS now. The breather change is perfect, but they need to tweak the numbers (or increase Dmg Reduction, or reduce cooldown). The firearm change is weird but acceptable, making him better at poke. But the pigpen is just a random ability. They should have added a "SHielding" ability like Doomfist or Ramattra, or have added an aura effect like Mauga. Overall, I think the changes weren't bad, but def weren't good

      Nah it’s not random. Works pretty well. You can cover your escape, anchor a teammate’s position, hold a choke better, zone enemies off, make body block traps easier for teammates to recognise and shoot at. It instantly clicked with me all the ways I started using it and helps hog stay present instead of him disappearing because he missed his hook.

      Every tank feels like a half-assed DPS. Most of them "tank" by being a threat, not by attracting threats. It's a problem with stat inflation across the board, and the inability to take damage.

    What cix found out is you want to pull them past the cc which gets you a lot of dam. Also he found out that you can shoot right after ult if you time the heals, you can time it just right to have no animation.

    Unfortunately hog is still hard gatekept by antinade. It may not be as bad as people play and learn the new rebreather. but I find being an ana main, throwing my antinade on cooldown means a dead hog.

    Once you get used to using Right click to Heal, and don’t accidentally click E (I was doing the same thing). Hooking people into pig pens feels great too. Once you adjust, I promise you this new Hog feels great! Way more flexible, and strong!

    I think his trap is bugged with that boop that sends them out of the range of the trap. Also yes I noticed Hog is shorter now as well, when you have two hogs in the match its really obvious he is shorter now for some reason

    "I couldn't walk right...my index finger was on my E key..." and despite the incredulous looks and scornful scoffs I get, this is why my pinky is on A. Gives me several more keys to use and ctrl and alt are still reachable, and I can still move to the right. :D

    Imma change my bindings to be: [Right click] Hook, [Side mouse button] Heal, [E] Pig pen. Then, I can move around and heal. Also, right click to hook makes A TON OF SENSE.

    Me and a friends tested the junkrat trap with roadhog trap and hook is an easy one shot. it is disgusting how funny it is.

    I think something they can do to give back secondary fire is to let you charge up the primary fire and then let go to shoot it which will do what secondary fire did.

    when i use pig pen i use it was more actively and off cooldown the burst damage and aoe is a lot more than you think. i especially try and focus hooking people onto it making it more of an active use ability rather than a trap u sit and wait for people to step on

    honestly an idea for the mine could be, on activation, it does 60 dmg, and a stronger lucio boop in every direction away from the center. that with a bigger radius and shorter cooldown sounds interesting

    Random thought, but what if they kinda reverted the shotgun change, but still kept it as only one click? Like; hog does a left click, then the normal shot comes out and the old right click comes out just after

    Swap binds so its, hook on right click. Breather on E and trap on shift. It makes a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.

    i find jumping and moving forward as i hit the hook can make the one shot easier but its def harder to do (whitch is probably a good thing in all honesty)

    I have a mouse with side buttons, so I can remap breather to that without struggling to move, and it very much helps

    I simply changed the key binds back to reflect the heal being E and my left klick throws out the zappy thingydoodle. I absolutely could not migrate to pressing left klick to heal, not after years of hitting E under stress...haha!

    hog's ult was still kinda carrying him right before the rework. ram ult? just whole hog. nano blade? whole hog. kitsune? whole hog around a corner. im glad they kept his ult untouched cuz its the most tank thing about his whole kit.

    I think hog needs his 50% damage reduction back as he’s to squishy to survive on the front line and it’s still really hard to make space as hog with the 50% reduction he could face tank stuff and actually be a tank and take space

    i think they need to give him a passive that lowers how much ult charge you get off him more then what the tank passive is and give him maybe 8% damage reduction base

      He has a really cool button that lowers all incoming damage (and thus ult charge gain) by 30%. It's up for 1/5 of the match (3 seconds on, 12 seconds off), averaging out to a 6% damage resist.

    I changed my controls so heal is the same thing, I kept throwing my mine when I was about to die. Fun fact, that issue killed me about 12 times.

    The strat for me is to throw down a trap and pull them into it, it's a one shot on most squishies.

    Hot take - All tanks should get armor and shield HP. Also, armor / shields should be unique to tanks.

    I swapped take a breather and hook. So my hook is right click now and that has been working a bit better.

    I feel like the rework didnt really change his playstyle at all, his heal feels underwhelming now as you're pretty much dead if you have no more heal left. His old right click was much better ranged dmg than its current one, and the heal keybind feels weird with heal on left click. Lastly idk why his skin "pigpen" is one word, but his ability "pig pen" is two words lol

    I think they should have used the right click animation for left click I always liked it better. Also take a breather is actually shit it needs to be like 35% or 40% dmg reduction if the recharge time is gonna be that slow

    They didn't reall fix any of his issues tho. Get an Ana or Zen and hog is in the exact same position as he was before the rework. All they did was make him stronger when not playing against his counters which wasn't that much of a problem anyway.

      I mean you can’t fix Ana or zen matchups without changing those heros because they are fundamentally bad for all tanks. But the rework did fix his ability to be stunned out of take a breather by heros like Orisa and doom which is a big plus.

      The vape change kind of helps him with stuns, which includes sleep, since he doesn't get the full 8 second cooldown after being stunned out of it. Plus the recent zen change also helps him out. Anti still kills him though.

      I think it's pretty clear that he's better than he used to be in an Ana matchup, if only because he can time his self healing around getting anti'd, and it's not immediately a waste of an ability/CD.

      @@idclol2883 the ability to pace take a breather makes him stay alive longer in my experience, and his trap slows down people allowing your team to capitalize

      @@ChristochatBTW yes but hes not actually tanking more damage during fights. they toned down the damage reduction and removed the healing amp, so all hog is doing now is feeding more over the course of the poke phase.
      its like being a bad dva player. they dont die, they just lose mech, recharge, lose mech, recharge over and over. not dying, but being a big ult battery

    I played him for 3 hours, they legitimately ruined hog for me. I don’t like one button for all ranges, I hate the feeling and execution of the trap. The heal is perfect in concept but he feels like a bulky dps not a tank, he just falls over

      I think it is hard to fix that without changing the way he feels like to play. If you change him too much, he basically becomes a new hero. The change from 6v6 to 5v5 did him dirty. He used to be a decent off tank, but as a solo tank he feels lost.

    As a roadhog main it's gonna take me a while to get used to not having a right click, but I do like the trap.

    Not sure why they needed to give hog a trap but ok. Breather was the only thing he needed a change to and it’s working out.

    It would’ve been so cool if they combined Take a Breather as a resource with OW1 1-3-2 experimental Roadhog’s TaB gas cloud (AOE damage reduction and healing).
    Imagine that when Roadhog uses Take a Breather, that it leaves a fairly small gas cloud around him, and as he keeps using TaB, any gas already near him would expand outward. As the duration for first gas runs out, the outer circle of the cloud would start to go away, all the way until the middle of it disappears.
    Roadhog could keeping walking forward while using TaB, and it would leave a trail of gas for his teammates to make use of to push in. Or he can stand more stationary while using TaB, and it would form into a thicker gas cloud for his team to use more defensively.
    Just think about how cool that would be, and it would solve the issue of Roadhog being a fat DPS tank hero. They would reduce TaB’s self-heal and damage reduction a bit since the gas cloud would benefit Roadhog as well, and if they insist on keeping their new Pig Pen ability, they would need to nerf its damage and slow effect.

      @@ghdcksgh Mauga has AOE damage reduction + life steal, which is a bit different than AOE damage reduction + healing. And the way it's applied to the battlefield functions differently than what I suggested for Roadhog's Take a Breather. Just because 1 hero has an AOE damage reduction does not mean other tanks can't have it, since they still have other things about them that make them unique. Like look at all the barrier tanks in the game, they each have a barrier, but they play in different ways, making each hero still feel unique.

    Tracer's health is 150, pigpen's damage is 60 + 30*3 = 60 + 90 = 150, it should kill her, but either you're right and the CC is making them take less damage even when they were on the ground not even walking or (I believe it's karq that said this) it does one tick less damage than normal

    however, he's bettr at bein a consistent threat in fights cause of the heal rework

    I feel like what they should do is remove fall off damage at least the 4 larger pellets would be a bit better at range
