Which grit sandpaper should I use if I choose not to buffer?

Honestly, I have no idea. Using a compound and polish on the headlights is the best option to use before applying clear.

@@TrickShiftGarage my bad, I meant the final step. After the 24hr clear coat, do I need a car buffer or could I use handheld sandpaper?

You can hand polish it, but I wouldn't use sandpaper imo.

DoNOT use this clear coat.....Ive been doing headlight for 12 years and i would not use this product. Maguires is the best

That clear coat is still holding up. What's wrong with it?

That clear coat is to go over base coat. Its not designed for head lights. Eats into the plastic lights.....Thanks

How long does it take to eat into the plastic?

Depends on the make of the vehicle....Don't use it.....

I'll have to look into this. I did a ton of research before buying the clear coat I used and did not see anything about it being an issue.
