As a nearly life-long resident of Florida, the Villages is such an artificial and phony place. It's like Disney for retirees. Most of those palm trees are not native to that part of Florida, and the landscaping and golf courses, as well as 100K people, are drawing from steadily diminishing underground aquifers. And that's not to mention the HOAs in each village and the way some residents who don't fit the political profile of the majority are hassled. Had a friend who considered moving there years ago, but once he looked around the place, he quickly decided to go elsewhere.
