Just done my first service on my 2020 FXLRS and followed the manual withwet fill of 36 oz of fluid but looks a little low and not at the level in the pic in my softail manual. should i do a dry fill of 40oz and see if that looks like its at the correct level
that fat bob is 2018, it has the wider primary casing and bigger derby cover. 2019 has narrow primary casing with smaller diameter derby cover and the rubber seal is sitting on the primary casing side.

Good video. Just did a three hole fluid change (1,000 mile) om my 2019 Heritage Classic Softail. All was straightforward until I got to the primary. The method shown in the Harley manual is pathetic and DOES NOT work. You can NOT use the diagram shown in the Harley manual to check the level. So I drained the fluid and measured what came out. it was 39 ounces. I ordered the Milwaukee Eight Softail kit that supposedly contains ALL the required fluid for the service. Again all was good until I got to the Primary. They sent me "only" one quart of fluid for the Primary (32 ounces) which left me about 7 ounces short. After a back and forth with J&P Cycles they reluctantly sent me another quart of Primary fluid. So my 2 hour fluid change turned into 4 days while I waited for the additional fluid.
any chance you measured how much transmission fluid came out? Some of the milwaukee 8's have a migration issue.... transmission fluid could have got into the primary giving you somewhat a false..... If it wasn't a migration issue, it was overfilled the previous time.
@J&P Cycles Can you use Mobil 1 20W50 Synthetic VTWIN for the engine and Primary and transmission or is it better to use the Mobil 1 for the engine and something different for the Primary and Transmission? I'm new to HD as this is my first HD ever. 2020 Breakout.
Change the o-ring on the drain plug. Its too cheap not to. Also, get that old white sealant of the plug with a wire brush. Makes no sense to leave old sealant on there. Not sure why HD dealers use the sealant anyhoo. The plugs have O-rings that seal well.

So its 36oz on a wet drain I'm wondering if I will be ok with 32oz-1quart as that's all we get with the redline kit. I got a 2020 fatbob 114 Tks

Is changing the primary oil the same for the touring models? I ask because my owner's manual says the primary should have 34oz of oil for a dry fill.
Do the Wet fill requirement. Dry fill is if you cleaned out primary entirely

My service manual says 84-108 in-lbs for the primary cover, that’s what I torqued mine too.
What do you think about HD’s Formula+ for the primary?
I prefer oils that are specific to the use, not a huge fan of the 3 in 1 oils.

See that you have motorcycle up straight and not on kickstand to get a level fill.
I measured 4.5 quarts on the kickstand for a 2020 Low Rider to get it to the half mark... odd but it's ok
