    I will say, the best part about going to the top of the Washington monument is that we got the best view & photos of the White House from there! I do think it was worth it just for that!

    Just got back from a week in DC yesterday! Loved your videos, Rob and they helped us a lot! We did do the Washington monument and really enjoyed it, especially the teens. Also a bunch of things on the top 10 list :) one of the most fun times was riding the red circulator for almost the whole circuit with a driver who was really funny and friendly. And the rides were free while we were there. Found most people to be friendly, even most of the security guards. Thanks again, Rob! Really appreciated your content!

    Engraving and printing was a favorite for my kids. Disagree with you on Supreme Court. Gorgeous building with interesting info, good intro movie, great gift shop and cafeteria (less busy than the Capitol). I think it’s a great add-on to your Capitol tour day and if you are right there it can be a quick stop that shouldn’t be missed.

    I received my White House reservation very quickly. So quickly that I didn't realize it was actually granted to me. I was given a ticket for Sept. 11. Although quite limited in terms of what is available for the tour, it's better than never setting foot inside.

    Great video! I toured the White House in September of 2018 and couldn’t believe how small it was in person. I enjoyed the views from the Old Post Office Tower.

      The movies do a disservice by making the White House look bigger than it is, I think.

    Your videos always make me excited to go back, even if were talking about the not so great things lol. Also, I’m fairly certain I saw you one summer evening last August giving a tour at the Lincoln Memorial. I wanted to say hi, but I just wasn’t sure that it was you.
    One of your tours is definitely on my list for next time!

    Great video and would agree with Rob. I have visited all of these places in the video and was excited to be in the actual historic building. For that reason, it's hard to say leave them off a must see and do list. If I had to pick one to visit, hit up the Washington Monument, it's so cool. The Pentagon tour was boring, but cool to say we were in the building...same with the Supreme Court.

    • @TripHacksDC

      Do you think the Pentagon tour was boring because of the guide wasn't engaging or because of the stuff that you got to see?

    I did get a tour of the Pentagon. As you walk around, it just looks like an office building. I could not tell when I switched from one ring to another. You can't tell it is in the shape of a pentagon from the ground outside. The 2 main benefits of going there for me are: 1 just knowing that I was inside The Pentagon. 2 The 9-11 memorial is amazing. There is a bench for every person. Who died. The benches are facing different directions to represent the people in the building vs the plane. The benches are in rows by the date of birth.

    Thanks for clarifying the Washington monument. Last year I was in St Louis and went on top of the arch. There were also some limited windows. Is that comparable?

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more similar to the arch than to a skyscraper observation deck, for example.

    Since the Old Post Office contains the Trump Hotel, do you have to go through the hotel to get to the tower, and can the hotel charge you to go into the tower? Also, I went to the White House before 09/11 and loved it. Back then, you just showed up and tours were first come, first served. You also got to linger in the rooms for a while after the tour. They didn’t just immediately shoo you away.

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Old Post Office is not affiliated with the hotel at all. Check out th-cam.com/video/AzOYDsEevRc/w-d-xo.html for directions to the Tower door.

    I did the White House tour last week and yes your'e right while it is quite limited, just the idea of being inside the White House made it exciting for me. I was touring with the regular tour, but I saw a couple of people being given a private exclusive tour by some guy in a suit. They were taken to the places off limits to us, like they were actually inside the vermeil room and the libary and all that and I was like, how do I get to do *THAT* tour? The two ladies this guy was touring were pretty hot so maybe he was trying to impress them. Too bad I'm not a hot girl LOL

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm. I've done both the regular public tour and a "person with a suit" tour. We got to peak our head in the Oval but didn't get to see the Situation Room. And definitely did not get taken inside the Vermeil Room or Library.

    These are mostly good suggestions....but I will respectfully disagree on a few. The Supreme Court IMO is worth to just to see the architecture. The main staircase, columns, the statues, and the never-ending spiral stair-case are super cool. I also really like the national monument. It's worth it to see it up close, to see the flag circle, and the view from the top is fantastic. On the way down, they turn off the lights and let you see through a window of the elevator the interior which was really cool. One site that deserves to make this list is the FDR monument...strange art and not as classy as the other mall monuments. The American Indian museum was also a major disappointment (aside from the restaurant which was fantastic). It's focus is too much on modern anglicized indians and not enough on history/ancient culture.
