    I'm guessing he's playing a requiem for his bank account.

      Nope. These are reasonably priced for Neumann. Funny comment though!

    Thank you for posting this. Within this range I would be looking at the Earthworks system vs. the Neuman 107s, But Most likely would choose the Neumans for the versatility. I also just watched a vocal demo comparison of the 107 and it was notably warmer. I can really feel the warmth around those mid, lower registers. Thanks!

    Really great to hear.. would love to hear identical spaced A-B but with Cardioid polar pattern.. great tone richness in these LDCs
    Would you consider the 107s to be coloured or neutral/accurate in their representation of the source material?
    Who makes reference LDCs in the accuracy/neutrality department?
    Regards

      Neutral up to 8 K. Then a slight bump. More importantly is the incre3dibly low noise thanks to the transformer less design. The capsule is a standout too. At 299 mm slightly under the typical 34 mm, and yet slightly larger than a SDC. The design fits this right between an LDC (though technically it still is an LDC!) and an SDC. It's got a very fast response too, so deceptively good for the price point!

    the first technique has the most pleasant sound. But the second technique allows a better spacialization of the piano, we localize it better.

    The weakness of the omni A-B experiment is that (a) you deliberately pulled them further away when they don't have the "reach". (b) I'll bet if you had a pair of Neumann M150's/Flea 50's out in that position you'd get a much superior result.

    you should work on that arpeggios in the left hand and on the proper use of pedal while playing them.

    • @JBrm
      @JBrm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why would you critizise the piano playing in a mic review video, especially if it's actually pleasing to listen to, as opposed by lots of other people doing similar videos?

    • @anonymusum
      @anonymusum 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JBrm Following your logic you could put a 4 years old beginner at that piano ad let him play. Besides it was an well-meant advice.

    Thanks, but I think, the Neumann 107 are not the ideal microphone for the piano. They have a smooth warm colour in it. If the grand piano is a very good one, you want to here the truth.

      Scaramouche da Vinci You could try the Neumann KM183 omnis in AB. Compare them to these mics here in omni, and see what you think -- better, same, worse?

    You guys really need to stop making demos with only mic pairs, this is ridiculous, stop trying to make people believe they NEED to have two microphones for EVERY single session, this is outrageous. I know in some cases we do, and of course, I got mine here, but it's getting kinda obvious that every single demo video you shoot is meant to convince us to buy two of the same thing. Lame, and very unprofessional. And for the record, I love Sound pure, that's why I think it's a deception.

      Well for practical purposes only, it's better to hear recording of a wide frequency instrument like piano. It permits to have a better overview of the mic's frequency response.
      And you will not record a piano with one mic, sorry. Or you're in 1950. Or it's piano for a David Guetta song.

      I know that, and I agree that in most cases we benefit a lot from stereo mic techniques, BUT, it would be great for people to hear what a single mic could do for their recordings, that way people might actually consider buying most of the gear of these reviews. And despite the fact this is for practical purposes we Know SoundPure it is also a store, so they do the intend to sell this gear, not only these TLM's but all the gear in their YT channel.

      So... you're annoyed that SoundPure makes stereo recordings in stereo... and that they are a studio gear store that wants to sell you studio gear... excuse me, I'm needed back on planet Earth.
