Listening to this after finishing my final exams hits different. Online classes is hard and is way more exhausting than face to face classes. The thing about forgiveness is people tend to assume that it equates to being back in each other's lives. People tend to question your ability to forgive base on how tolerant you are in allowing that person to be a part of your life again. Forgiveness should mean you are ready to put everything behind you and move forward. Be it with those people that hurt you or separately. So even if some won't welcome you in their lives anymore it doesn't mean forgiveness hasn't been granted.

I remember when I had a depression, I pray to God to take all my pain away while listening to this song kasi I feel like I couldn't make it, and I have no one to lean on, I don't have someone who can listen, but I do understand somehow, because we all have our own problems to deal, even though I understood, there is still a part of me that wants someone to lean on, no matter what I do, I have nothing but myself. This song is my favorite song of Ben&Ben. This is actually my healing song because I am a person who is having a hard time forgiving someone even herself. Whenever I hear the lyrics "you never learn to love someone until you forgive", it constantly reminds me that I am a person who is in the process of growing so mistakes and failing to meet every expections is normal, and that I should (at least try) to give myself some love. Stumbled upon this while playing random stuff on youtube as I was mincing garlic for my late late dinner.. A full band "Leaves" version is absolutely beautiful. Butter. Way better than the original acoustic, and that was really amazing then. The bass-y harmony on this is very well placed. It sounds to me like a greatest hits performance, tailored for generations of audience that have paid enormous amounts to pay tribute to a legendary act. Gotta love that solo piano note in the end too. Lovely touch right there. I don't know Young K, being, I am not that immersed to the whole K-Pop craze. But him in the mix is absolutely brilliant. His part was not exaggerated. He fit right into what the song required and the song, in ways, embraced him. Others would have overkilled it. And I am happy the band did not put a high-range vocalist in this (except maybe if they had put Morissette Amon). On his own, he is a great vocalist as well. And many Korean acts are. This original version of "Leaves" is a calm and tear-inducing song in that when you listen to it, it makes you sit down and stay in that moment of pain and lets you see and take all the lessons as you course through the emotions of the moment. This version is a warm way to make you step out of that and start your process of healing. This is how you make song a take notches higher to greatness. We should start talking about Ben&Ben not just a brilliant act of today, but also, one of the greatest of all time. Not appreciating this much brilliance in musicality, range, and songwriting is missing a lot.
Would you believe if Young K also has a high (like You make Me and Where the Sea Sleeps of DAY6) and wide range of vocals (this Leaves, for example, since we seldom get lower registers of him and it's usually used on songs because of necessity or it fits the song. Also, Stop Talking, Love Me Less cover, and a lot more)? But that's exactly how I agree with you on the part of Young K. He, and the Day6 members (all of them are vocalists, if you're confused) isn't always about flashing vocals/instruments but takes into consideration the feelings and story of the song, lyrically, vocally and instrumentally. And it's just appropriate not to overkill Leaves with high notes. Seems like they were on the same page of understanding and approach so it worked brilliantly. [All those song examples are just for examples. It's okay if you don't want to check them hehe. But Day6 go by "trust and listen Day6", as popularized by the korean general public and also known by kpop stans in general since they do not have a bad song (skippable songs), so, even if you don't check, I hope you trust my words. This song is very memorable to me. My son just died then and while I was passing by Roxas Boulevard, this song played. I cried instantly. i still do every time i hear this. It was really painful losing my 3 month old baby, and this helped me grieve. Sometimes we forget to give ourselves breaks when we push ourselves too far from our limits. Taking a short break doesn't mean you're not productive , it doesn't mean you're not doing your best. Resting is very important to our mental health. If we stumble today , we can stand tomorrow. We have to pause, breath, and regather ourselves, for healing takes time, don't push yourself too much to the extent where you cannot pull yourself back. As I endure the hurdles that life brings, I learned to live in desperate ways that made me despise myself along the process. I made decisions that hurt others, chose actions that affects the people that surrounds me. I did miserable things for I didn’t knew any better at those moments. Yes, I have so many regrets in life. How I wished I lived my past differently. How I wish someone showed me love -in simple ways that I should’ve experienced. But, I can’t do anything to change what I’ve been through, undo the mistakes I did, reconcile with the people that I’ve hurt. All I can do is to not let my past define the future I am accountable of making. So in the song of leaves, I asked my self. “Did I truly love someone, that I am able to forgive?”. A question that echoed to my being for I am referring to myself. How long has this self-hatred been reaching in dark corners? How dull has my once soaring motivation has become because of failure? The thing about forgiveness is people tend to assume that it equates to being back in each other's lives. People tend to question your ability to forgive base on how tolerant you are in allowing that person to be a part of your life again. Forgiveness should mean you are ready to put everything behind you and move forward. Be it with those people that hurt you or separately. So even if some won't welcome you in their lives anymore it doesn't mean forgiveness hasn't been granted.

I remember when I had a depression, I pray to God to take all my pain away while listening to this song kasi I feel like I couldn't make it, and I have no one to lean on, I don't have someone who can listen, but I do understand somehow, because we all have our own problems to deal, even though I understood, there is still a part of me that wants someone to lean on, no matter what I do, I have nothing but myself. I always think how nice it is to have someone to lean on whenever you need it.
When I was okay na I thanked God because he took away all the pain I was carrying, the trauma I had even disappeared for a while but sometimes I still remember how hard it is to forget but at least I made it.

Stumbled upon this while playing random stuff on youtube as I was mincing garlic for my late late dinner..
A full band "Leaves" version is absolutely beautiful. Butter. Way better than the original acoustic, and that was really amazing then. The bass-y harmony on this is very well placed. It sounds to me like a greatest hits performance, tailored for generations of audience that have paid enormous amounts to pay tribute to a legendary act. Gotta love that solo piano note in the end too. Lovely touch right there.
I don't know Young K, being, I am not that immersed to the whole K-Pop craze. But him in the mix is absolutely brilliant. His part was not exaggerated. He fit right into what the song required and the song, in ways, embraced him. Others would have overkilled it. And I am happy the band did not put a high-range vocalist in this (except maybe if they had put Morissette Amon). On his own, he is a great vocalist as well. And many Korean acts are.
This original version of "Leaves" is a calm and tear-inducing song in that when you listen to it, it makes you sit down and stay in that moment of pain and lets you see and take all the lessons as you course through the emotions of the moment. This version is a warm way to make you step out of that and start your process of healing. This is how you make song a take notches higher to greatness.
We should start talking about Ben&Ben not just a brilliant act of today, but also, one of the greatest of all time. Not appreciating this much brilliance in musicality, range, and songwriting is missing a lot.

Would you believe if Young K also has a high (like You make Me and Where the Sea Sleeps of DAY6) and wide range of vocals (this Leaves, for example, since we seldom get lower registers of him and it's usually used on songs because of necessity or it fits the song. Also, Stop Talking, Love Me Less cover, and a lot more)? But that's exactly how I agree with you on the part of Young K. He, and the Day6 members (all of them are vocalists, if you're confused) isn't always about flashing vocals/instruments but takes into consideration the feelings and story of the song, lyrically, vocally and instrumentally. And it's just appropriate not to overkill Leaves with high notes. Seems like they were on the same page of understanding and approach so it worked brilliantly.
[All those song examples are just for examples. It's okay if you don't want to check them hehe. But Day6 go by "trust and listen Day6", as popularized by the korean general public and also known by kpop stans in general since they do not have a bad song (skippable songs), so, even if you don't check, I hope you trust my words. Thank you for this song. This means a lot to my family. We lost our dad to cancer last April. My mom listens to Leaves as a coping mechanism because it gives her so much comfort. I used to think that my mom and dad no longer have spark for each other but little did I know that their relationship grew stronger in the most difficult of times. When love is familiar, grand gestures become lesser through time. Love transforms into consistent small affirmations of endearment and a strong friendship replaces romance, and that's what truly matters. My dad's love language is service, we were too comfortable in knowing that we can depend on him for all things. Missing him is not easy, but letting go will be inevitable. To those who have lost their loved ones, let's trust that all will be alright in time. 💕

Naiyak naman ako sayo... I lost my dad (renal failure) and my sister (ovarian cancer). Pain is beying words but we have to accept the fact na gang dun lang life nila... And it's up to us on how we will cope up living without them. 😢

This song is very memorable to me. My son just died then and while I was passing by Roxas Boulevard, this song played. I cried instantly. i still do every time i hear this. It was really painful losing my 3 month old baby, and this helped me grieve. I am still in the process of accepting things, but the lyrics WOUNDS OF THE PAST WILL EVENTUALLY HEAL AND ALL WILL BE ALRIGHT IN TIME. My Lolo died today, and I can't go to his place due to Covid-19. I miss him so much, that it really breaks my heart when I heard the dreadful news. I told to myself that everything will be alright in time, in God's time. What happened today creates a deep and wide wound yet, I know, by time, I'll be soon be healed by God's love and grace.
I pray that everyone tonight have the comfort that their hearts are trying to find. My Lolo is now in peace, is now in comfort, he is now in God's arms. Everything will be alright in time, trust the Lord.

"All will be alright in time", So it's okay to cry and to be weak, it's okay to stumble. Sabi nga ng prof ko "kaya naimbento ang salitang bawi kase minsan kailangan nating bumagsak". Sometimes we forget to give ourselves breaks when we push ourselves too far from our limits. Taking a short break doesn't mean you're not productive , it doesn't mean you're not doing your best. Resting is very important to our mental health. If we stumble today , we can stand tomorrow. We have to pause, breath, and regather ourselves, for healing takes time, don't push yourself too much to the extent where you cannot pull yourself back. Don't rush things because it will happen at the right time. Because "all will be alright in time". Always remind yourself that everything happens for a reason, this too shall pass and you will get what you truly deserve someday. Sometimes we have to acknowledge that we are weak and accept our weaknesses to show how strong we can possibly be. Don't deprive yourselves with a rest. We can do this, we can survive this. Which I think is they really are. I love the reimagined version as much as I love the original. What stood out for me here is their blending of voice and the fact that it really is timely with our present situation.
True, Leaves is a representation of "time heals everything" even though we hurt some time, the wound caused by that ache will eventually heal. Just always remember that, it is not the end for every struggles that we've facing today, it is okay to accept the failures rather than throw it away.

Lyrics from Leaves of ben and ben hits me differently at the age of 23. Ever since, life has never been easy on me. As I endure the hurdles that life brings, I learned to live in desperate ways that made me despise myself along the process. I made decisions that hurt others, chose actions that affects the people that surrounds me. I did miserable things for I didn’t knew any better at those moments. Yes, I have so many regrets in life. How I wished I lived my past differently. How I wish someone showed me love -in simple ways that I should’ve experienced.
But, I can’t do anything to change what I’ve been through, undo the mistakes I did, reconcile with the people that I’ve hurt. All I can do is to not let my past define the future I am accountable of making.
So in the song of leaves, I asked my self. “Did I truly love someone, that I am able to forgive?”. A question that echoed to my being for I am referring to myself. How long has this self-hatred been reaching in dark corners? How dull has my once soaring motivation has become because of failure? How hard was I in punishing myself for making the wrong choices? How exhausting is it to be my own critic in trying to avoid disappointments?
Forgiveness is what I owe myself. I don’t know how to start but I will keep on trying. To wake up each day a little kinder and become my own’s best friend. For in that way, I can say I have truly love my very existence.
Life has its season. But for now, I can only whisper to myself “All will be alright in time”.
