Another epitome of Abba's sparkling sound to a disco-rock gem.Always stable in my all top 3 Abba list.Such a classic, nothing to change or even dare to touch.
Hello again, so happy to see you with your new reaction to ABBA songs "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever" from the year before In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has ABBA was preparing their 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the official video This is the only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio, including staff musicians (bass, guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector) The official vídeo is a short versión, the recording of the single is more than 4 1/2 minutes (with a solo instrumental) But in last month ABBA did a new official lyric video of "Gimme gimme gimme" full versión The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of Benny's keyboards, is what Madonna used for her worlwide hit "Hung Up" in 2005, 16 years later... (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits) Surely for the latter, with more than 340 million views, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on TH-cam (behind "Dancing Queen", which has 660 million views) and also for this last reason, surely "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is much more popular now than in its time when it was released it was #3 in the UK, it wasn't even released in the US now also a centerpiece at the new ABBA Voyage concerts in London I think that you could see their first worldwide success ,, when ABBA won the classic Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton UK 1974 with the iconic song "Waterloo" I think is the most catchiest ABBA song Thank you again for these video See you in the next ; GOD bless you My best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
Abbie, perfect reaction. You definitely got it and your wanting to dance and hear more of this song is proof! 😊 Try listening to the non-video version which has an epic break in the middle of the song that sounds amazing with headphones. Trust me and actually I’d say trust every ABBA fan as well who I feel safe to say would agree with that assessment.😊
0:58,Aaaahh!That shot,Breathtaking!Who wouldn't love these 2 girls in rheir team? They were the hottest babes in the scene.Combined with 2 genius songwritters it's God's gift to pop music. And that keyboard riff is a killer.G!G!G! ,adventurous high levelled production, addictive bass, lush vocal arrangements and sound that only ABBA could make.No other could ever sing this, better than Abba.
Love this so much - this and "On and On and On" have a darker more cynical tone than a lot of their stuff and that actually works really well with those beautiful harmonies. I also loved Madonna using the hook for "Hung Up". There are a longer versions of this which are even better - this is a shorter edited version.
🤔There must be something about this song, because Westlife did an "ABBA Medley" during their "Wild Dreams Tour" this year, that included it..............Madonna sampled the riff of the song on her 2005 hit, "Hung Up"................at the end of the 1990's, the "ABBA Teens" (a.k.a. "A*Teens), recorded it for their album "The ABBA Generation"...........and Canadian singer Damhnait Doyle, recorded a slower version of it. As a teenager, when I first bought the album "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" (1979), it includes the longer version............but when they released the 45 vinyl single, the whole instrumental intro part is removed. ABBA also recorded a Spanish version........... ¡Dame!Dame!Dame!(Amor Esta Noche).........for their 1980 album "Gracias Por La Musica". ♫♫♫♫♫♫♪♪♪♪♪♪♪
My last line manager was the spitting image of Agnetha. As such when getting reviews all I was thinking was mmmmmm yummy rather than listening to the telling off.
Ah man ... why do TH-cam reviewers always review the video version of this song ? It's an inferior edited version of the actual track ! Really need to listen to the actual song.
So sad, you react to the 3'-radio version; Madonna sampled 2005 the riff in the worldwide million seller HUNG UP, but used the riff at least 50 times; react with your daugther ,then you can compare the artists. Since one month there is a new lyric video with a "colored old video+ in the background of 4:50 with the so important instrumental synthi-bass middle part, used from the album by the students at our school parties, still today. A long version is on the fantastic DVD Wembley Live 1979 too. Suggestion; react to the 2 song-package "Does Your Mother Know+Hole In Your Soul", then you would recognize ABBA had a rock side full energy and passion and rocked the hall. A remastered version on internet is released.
Madonna's sampling to this gem with 'Hung up' managed something for the first and only time in her career(up to now).Topping the charts in 41 countries!A world record 2005.

Lovely to see a parent connecting to their kids through music
One of the best groups ever ❤️
The original full length version that was released as the single is even better with an amazing break down in the middle.

You lucky guy.
You played the video edit. Full 7" version is much better.
It is better, but as they reacted to the official video, which is great, it’s only available in edited format.
@@discogareth fortunately the newest 2022 official lyric video edition kinda settled things out somehow. It was the glorious full version,at last.
♥

Why ? Is it shorter ?

This is the short version, without the bridge..
Why bother having your daughter there😲 It's obvious that she has no interest in music that was produced before she was s twinkle on her father's eyes.
