Do you agree that this is a western masterpiece and if not, which westerns do you prefer?

What do you mean “why”? No need to tell, just watch it. The whole trilogy is top notch, simply unsurpassable.

@@HollywoodTown, I totally understand that, cos I love em all myself, keep on watching and rewatching. I, personally, consider The Good the Bad and the Ugly as one of the best movies ever made, if not the best ever.

Yes a 10 out of 10. This film gets better each time one watches it. Everything in it is great. Awesome Morricone score. This film launched the careers of Eastwood, Leone, Morricone, and revived the western genre.

Thanks for checking out my video. That's right, the movie has aged like a fine wine and for sure, an important entry in the western genre.

a BIG overlook here, in my opinion is that Fistful is a remake of Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa. Greatest Samurai film of all time. Not to Say Fistful, which I love, is not a classic in its own right, as Yojimbo.is. Which I think raises one of the most interesting discussions of classic film. In fact, discussing these two films together would make a great video review, as other Kurosawa inspired westerns.

I've watched both Fistful and Yojimbo many times. The basic plot outline is the same but there is a mass of detail in each that is not, and (because of the setting) could not be, in the other. Some reviewer once described Fistful as a 'shot for shot' remake of Yojimbo but this is complete nonsense. Apart from the story outline they are very, very different films. Both excellent.
It is similar to reviewers calling Carpenter's 'The Thing' a remake of the Howard Hawks' film, but Carpenter went back to John Campbell's original short story for his version, and stayed much closer to it in feel and detail.

A true masterpiece and my favorite trilogies. Actually the first perfect trilogy. The story's aren't really intertwined but it still is a trilogy especially after the master stroke of Leone making the man with no name pick up the poncho from the dying soldier making tgtbtu a prequel.. Dollar trilogy and once upon a time in the west for me the 4 best westerns ever made and belong in the top 25 of greatest movies of all time with the good the bad and the ugly for me the greatest movie of all time period.
