I like this new CEO Dan... he not doing anything revolutionary just showing a lot of passion, care and interest in the platform BUT what it does highlight is how invisible and negligent the last CEO of twitch was.

he's done a lot revolutionary what you are talking about? He's interacted with his streamers more in a few months than the guy he replaced did in 10 years.... on top of that the platform has made pro streamer improvements almost weekly since he took over.. they can no stream wherever they want while also live on twitch.. that's gonna explode the platform.

Dan Clancy has singlehandedly changed twitch's public image in a complete 180. Twitch went from the most hated platform that ignored it's creators and users, to the most open platform pushing the biggest and brightest changes. Loving it!

They’ve reintroduced 70-30 partially since Dan becoming CEO, they fully allow streaming to other platforms simultaneously, and the CEO is beyond in tune with what streamers and viewers want as he’s constantly in communication and friends with top streamers. Sure the overwhelming majority outside of twitch isn’t gonna know most of that yet but on twitch it’s super obvious

I don't think the company as a whole is evil, but let's not pretend they've fixed their image entirely. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. Could go in either direction
Wtf. Dan Clancy is actually a likeable person. I mean, he practically exudes what twitch and streamer culture should be about. He is reallly suited as the face of twitch.

For those who don’t know Dan has a BA in comp sci, PhD in AI, worked for NASA as their chief comp sci division, and ran several projects for google before coming to twitch in 2019. I hate to sound like a shill but I really like how present he is even if he’s made some questionable decisions on the sub split

@@Lucy-dk5cz no absolutely not, I'm saying that when it comes to running an entirely digital company he's probably one of the better people to have because he has the technical experience to know what it is that the streamers are working with, the corporate experience to know how a lot of the stuff works behind the curtain and the consequences of that, and charismatic enough to be very likable.

love the CEO streaming alot and doing content to really understand the life of the streamers and the struggles to make twitch better for everyone, not just the biz
Dan is so wholesome.
I had few problems with Twitch.
But Dan has pretty much solved it all now.
embed views rekt, is so good for the platform.
Sure ppl complain about ads still, but the world isn't free.
Server/hosting cost a lot.
Best you can do, is to get Turbo if you watch a lot of channels.

I didn't even know Twitch had a CEO before Dan. Cool how much he hangs out with the OTK people too.
Dan went on a road trip somewhat recently and met and hung out with over 100 streamers from small to large communities. I believe he is a net positive for the platform and community even if not all decisions and changes have been very good since he took over as CEO.
@@SadPanda4 I 100% agree, though mistakes/bad changes are unavoidable when they're actively trying stuff out. Plus the company's growth and revenue are a priority so there will always be some kind of shitty anti-consumerism going on.

Dan needs to get the Doc Back on Twitch tbh, the entire platform with OTK and the doc. no other streaming platform would stand a chance
I think Dan is great. So many high level executives are disconnected from their product and customers, but he puts himself in the trenches. He engages with streamers and their communities, uses product himself and I think that helps him make better decisions with regards to the business.

When introduced to Dan my read was he was an out of touch bigwig at some company coming in to run what was left of twitch into the ground. And now I can't say he wasn't out of touch with the community or wasn't a bigwig, but he is certainly not running twitch into the ground. Actually getting out there from what I perceived to be an ivory tower and mix it up with the streamers big and small its amazing. Great vibes and future ahead.
They should check out Birmingham conventions center, it would conglomerate the things they talked about, and I'm not even from there. The hotels are literally all around the central area where events are held, and the center is set up well enough to make it feel close with having enough space to set everything up.
My takeaway from this is Esfand's name actually means E-Sports Fan Duel

This was actually one of the coolest vods I’ve seen.
I first opened my Twitch account in 2015 and my last stream was 5 years ago and after I deleted everything but my username. I really want to come back to Twitch but don’t think I have the right personality for it. I’m older, on disability and don’t have a proper audio/video setup, or a PC for that matter. (I’m a console peasant now).
But I literally spend most my time gaming and sometimes writing music. Do streams with no camera and and janky mic work? Haha probably not.
Thanks for sharing this. Boss seems really cool and I look forward to what comes next for the platform.

The non-exclusivity discussion shows that Dan has an idea about what he is doing. I am far more likely to see a live stream on TH-cam and head on over to Twitch if I am interested. It works exactly like he says, it's an "advert" / driver to the Twitch platform, rather than siphoning away from it.
