8:15- instead, use the quick mask tool to select the bits of flower then paint on the layer mask outside of the flower selection. much quicker and cleaner then manually painting in a mask.
This tutorial has been an absolute game changer for me, I was stuck not knowing how to create this effect for some projects I was working on until I found this video. I've watched this a number of times, easy to follow and packed full of useful tips and tricks. Made a massive difference with how I use Photoshop! Thanks so much
Really great video ! One of the best tutorial I have ever seen. You're not missing anything, every action, every shortcut, every pannel or effect are explained. I really enjoyed it. Thanks.
While I’m not a Photoshop person, this has given me mad inspirational ideas to try out in Affinity Photo! I’ve been watching a lot of your tut’s on both Photoshop as well as Premiere pro and appreciate the level of in-depth that you go into!
That selection of layers, then ctrl+alt+e, (around 33:00) was a great tip! I've used ctrl+shift+alt+e (stamp visible) many times, but his was subtly different and very useful, and worked really well for the high pass filter. The grain effect worked nicely as well.
I've been somewhat haphazard in my use of layer masks, but the way you shown using them here has given me great ideas in how they can work for me a lot better. Gotta get that workflow. Thanks!
This is so awesome!! You are certainly the best photoshop teacher. I really like your tutorials because you come every time with something original and cool.
Ive found that if you ctrl+click on the layer you can emidiately select the flowers so you don't need to do the two step proces of getting the flowers pop over de border, just ctrl+click and adjust the layer mask like you want it
I'm a designer myself, always looking to learn more to improve my skills. Watched this entirely for fun and definitely picked up a lot of good techniques. I'm subscribing for sure. Also: I saw 6 people gave it a thumbs down...I wish they could state their reasoning behind that lol. Great work.
you're awesome man!!! I just love the way you teach, and the way you speak.. One with moderate command on Ps ,never gets bored to watch your full tutorial. Otherwise I really get bored to watch a lengthy videos of others! but never in yours👍😃
Hey! thank you for sharing your skills. You have helped me a lot and I have used your teachings in my daily designs and it has helped. I pray your business will grow and you will prosper more and more. Thank you
Hit the 3-dot symbol to open up the toolbar menu - then click "done" while holding down shift+ctrl. I love that they added it! xD (to undo it, just hit "done" regularly, iirc - I'll probably keep it forever, though.)
Oh man, thanks so much for the great tutorial. Struggled with the shadows when i tried this effect a couple of weeks ago and could not figure out the right way until this nice little peace of tut came by! Exactly what i needed to finish this!
just a small thing. I'm not sure if its better of not but when you created the shadows for the flowers with a paint brush. you could just use drop shadow effect and then make it an actual layer (forgot the name of thus effect, pretty sure "create global layers") and then just delete the places that you don't want to have shadows on. not sure if its a good idea though, can you tell me?
Or you could just created a new layer for flower shadows on the frame and clip it to the frame layer, seems to do job a lot easier! Thank you for inspirational tutorials, always great videos!
I am confused, diddn't we already applied a drop shadow to the Flowers, but later you said we use the brush tool because the Drop shadow would be applied everywhere. @ 16:03 You say it would be applied everywhere but it was not because the pieces that are in front of the border are not shadowed.
Thank you for all the great tutorials. Just a thought, it might have been faster to use the quick select or other selection tools on the flowers when creating your layer masks. You could also have adjusted the selections with select>adjust>feather or filter>blur to soften edges.
Nice tuts! Many can use the techniques you've just put in this video. You could've opt to use "create clipping mask" to hide excess shadow you have drawn. Correct me if I'm wrong. Just want to make the process quicker and a lot easier. Thanks!
Great video. Really liked the idea behind this image. Just wanted to ask about the part around 8:38. Can i make selections with pen tool and brush it for perfection? As I don't have any graphics tablet
Hi ! Is there anyway you could show how did you make the selection of the flowers ? I'm learning all this stuff on my own and its kinda difficult to learn to do that. Your videos are surely helping me a lot to learn. Would be glad if you could help.
A little fast for my taste, but being on youtube i can't complain. It's really immersive and very detailed, and the visible commands you press that show up on screen are the best. Keep em coming, i'll probably get the photoshop pack once i get the hang of the programme a little more.
Hi Nathaniel, could you please make a tutorial on how to create realistic shadows when placing an object like a car or anything like that into another scene. There are some tuts out there on youtube but I'd love to see your techniques since you're the Photoshop master. :) Thx a lot.
Could you explain how you got those floral brushes to look like that? Mine just turns out looking like a grainy semi-transparent mess. And somehow your brush paints in different shades of the selected color???
good job on the tutorials. I'm working on learning after effects now and a lot of times the narrator/creator assumes you know something. I find I learn the tools in tutorials like these, maybe by learning a hotkey i never knew etc as opposed to some tutorials where i create the final project but nowhere near completely understood what i was doing.
I love the video and i love how very detailed it is but I'm having trouble with the first one I'm afraid. I can't seem to do it, the color range thingy. And when I tried to erase the border line with the brush tool, it wouldn't erase the color just lightens. You see I'm new to all this. Could you explain it for me?
Hi, Love this tutorial. SO in depth and creative. Im new to photoshop though and am having issues with tucking the text over the bouquet. Whenever I try to go over it with my brush, it restores it rather than go under the layer? I'm sure its a simple solution that I haven't figured out yet. :/ any help?
8:15- instead, use the quick mask tool to select the bits of flower then paint on the layer mask outside of the flower selection. much quicker and cleaner then manually painting in a mask.
ye, and then invert it.
Your creation and skill are just wonderful.I wanna learn more.
This tutorial was well detailed. Earned a sub. I can confirm this is legit.
This tutorial has been an absolute game changer for me, I was stuck not knowing how to create this effect for some projects I was working on until I found this video. These are the kinds of tutorials I like! I love this kind of design

Haha, well now you can know how to make one for yourself, Rach! 😃

great stuff, your way of delivering is most amazing, better than listening to a background music.
The best photoshop tutorials on TH-cam. Thank you!
This tutorial was loaded with quite a few techniques that I can't wait to try myself. I now realize why you are a fast talker. Thank you.

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to give that a shot. I think you're referring to the "Create Layers" command.
tutvid yea, I'm pretty sure
Same hahahahaha

It really depends on what you're working on. But it can look really good and save a buttload of time. So I always try it once.

You are SO NICE!!!! This was such a pleasant experience while at the same time learning. Thank you!! Bravo!!.
Thanks for the video!
I use instead of the direct selection tool or the brush (to paint the areas you erase), the pen, is much smoother and accurate!

Hi bro. Can you please share a link for the yellow flowers. Thanks..

Amazing and Excellent effect ''tutvid'' thank you for sharing. I like this effect.
Could you explain how to make the white background 1:40 please.
That;s the default transparent background in Photoshop. Am I missing the part you're asking about? I'm not sure I understand the question.
I think he's asking about the color range thing, I got lost at that part too :p
