    Tip. File your pipe before you put your wire in. This way it’s not in your way

    Your method of installing the service wires thru the BLOODY PLASTIC piece of the weatherhead is fantastic. Your video is a GREAT VIDEO for all apprentices to watch. Yes , I agree with many of the comments below as well , BUT , the gist of MAKING IT EASY ON YOUR BODY WITHOUT TUGGING , PULLING AND PUSHING THE SERVICE WIRES , will save the backs , elbows , hands , forearms , etc. , from arthritis once apprentices become OLD ELECTRICIANS. Well done.

    You made that look easy. Thanks for sharing. I am installing my mast and weather head this weekend, and this video showed me exactly how best to get the wires in the weather head.

      Did you team the conduit before you pulled the wire or are you just showing us it needed to be reamed

    You can't have a bare neutral going up the mast. It is a current carrying conductor and must be insulated. You will have a galvanic action between the steel mast and the aluminum. Dissimilar metals. Aluminum will corrode and eventually be eaten away. The pipe is grounded. Only place grounding and grounded conductors are together is at the first means if disconnect, not by aluminum shorting to metal mast. That wire is meant to be installed exposed as a service drop off the utility pole and that's legal. It could be used as an equipment ground if you didn't need a neutral wire.

      Correct. Same reason you have anodes for water heaters and boat motors = electrolysis.

    I find it easier to prebend my conductors the way they would be exiting the weather head then slide the knockout piece up the wires and put in place.

    One thing left out in the is the 2 guy wires that's needed to keep mast @ 90 deg,

    • @MicahFunk
      @MicahFunk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's only if the mast exceeds a certain height that guy wires are required unless the local authority having jurisdiction states otherwise.

    What kind of cable is that?
    Never seen a cable in a service mast before.
    Up in Canada we mostly use rw90 or usei. At least where I am anyways

    What is the cost to just extend the pipe to go through the roof ? Right now it sits under the fascia but I need to extend it through the roof as the power line is starting to drag on my roof . I called electric company but they said it's because my mast is not going to the roof

    • @jonathanrojas5221

      It has to do with temperature. When conduit is near the roof it needs to have either thhn or UF. I'm not sure what the temp rating is for the service cable he is using. Here in Denver we pack duct seal in the pipe before we put the weather head on.

    I tend to prefer bending the wire before hand and then set the knockout plastic piece. I just set the wires in the side they will be going in.

    I have been an electrician for 18 years. there are so many things wrong with this installation its shameful. When your house burns down insurance is going to deny your claim. Btw no guy wire or stiff leg kit. This would never pass inspection
