Finding Malaysia

Finding Malaysia is a documentary produced in celebration of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage. Hosted by Nick Atkinson and featuring interviews with historians and researchers, it dives into the long history of the nation and its strive for independence becoming what it is today. This film was filmed throughout Malaysia and in the U.K.
Originally released in 2023 in conjunction with Malaysia's 66th Merdeka day. We have moved the content here as the title inspired us to create this channel in our strive to record, preserve and share the wonderful stories of Malaysia.

Many people being mislead by certain videos in youtube by saying Federation of Malaya and Federation of Malaysia was the same thing. It was not. Malaya reach independent from British Colonnial and Her Majesty on August 31 1957. Malaysia or Federation of Malaysia formed in 1963 between Federation of Malaya, State of Singapore, North Borneo (Sabah) and Sarawak. In 1965 Singapore expelled by Federation of Malaysia and get Independent from British Government and Mr Lee Kuan Yew appointed as Prime Minister.
