As the adage goes, “Check on your strong friends". Too many of us are going around putting on a happy face, when deep down inside, we’re hurting. The deep dark hole of depression is scary yet familiar to so many of us. And those who have suffered for a long time become familiar with the hole, a place where not much light gets in.
You have to realise that there is a space between living in the hole and acknowledging that the hole is there. Because that space is your freedom. That space is where your power to choose lives.
Let people into your struggle - please, please, please reach out with your words and ask for a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on if you’re feeling hopeless or alone. Please let someone help you see past depression to the hope on the horizon - because you can be heard, and you can be healed.
There is love and understanding waiting for you. Help is just a few words away.

Please hold on, dear Sandra. Things will change. It might not be the change you expect or want right away, but life will present you with a change that just might be worth sticking around for. I think back over the last decade of the joys I would have missed had I been successful in my attempt to leave this world and I am so grateful to have been spared. Has every day been better? No, certainly not. There were many more bone-weary dark days, but had I not endured them I would not have reached this marvelous place of peace and joy that I find myself now. This hit close. My dad is in a hospital, in a serious condition (unconscious) right now. Not a suicide attempt but I've seen him losing any joy of life over the past few years so whatever's happening with him right now may well be a symptom of him not wanting to be here anymore. Despite only being in his sixties, he seems no longer being able to truly connect with anything or anyone (even people who do love him). I can only hope he still has some will to keep going... 🙏

Oddly enough, I'm not really worried about myself - being faced with this potential crossroad in life, I know I'll manage whatever happens. It may be hard, it may be painful but in the end it's only making me stronger (and more aware of the fact that we shouldn't postpone our goals and dreams indefinitely, thinking we "still have time for that", because one day - and it may be much sooner than we think - the time will be up). Still, I don't believe that the death of our body is the end of anything more than the end of a chapter of a much greater story. I just wish the best for him (and other family members, like my grandma - his mom - who would probably have a really hard time accepting potentially outliving her son). Anyway, thanks for your kind words! 🥲

I too, have survived something very similar, and I do, in fact disagree with him regarding the selfishness of it all. In such depths of despair, one is incapable of overcoming the self-ness of the dire situation, and to say that it is "selfish" paints the darkness with a much deeper shade of black, and can potentially push one over the edge completely, having to also bear the mark of "selfish".

My husband and I watched this last night. We’ve been married for 37 years and have four children. He was diagnosed with Bipolar 7 years ago. It was his own anger that broke his heart. It's called the Takotsubo syndrome, caused by a high level of stress hormones (cortisol & adrenalin) running in the blood.

To anyone going through a dark phase, it is important to understand that it is just a phase. Our heart beat is never a straight line, it’s always in an up and down movement and so does our life. Before taking any drastic step, please think about your own life, your loved ones’ lives. You might decide to take your life and take a step to end everything, but what about others? Your parents, friend, your pets? Did they never hold importance in your life?
As said in the video, devote your life to others and you’ll find your purpose to live. Please understand that we are given only one life.. just one life! We don’t know what happens to us when we die, but our loved ones, they suffer numerous negative emotions and sleepless nights once you’re gone! Please give yourself chance, think about others before yourself, please!
Take care of yourself and please discuss with people who you trust! There’s always a way out, please remember that ❤

Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience. I was hospitalized at 16 years old (diagnosed with depression) and lost my family, my home, and my friends. When I was 50 years old I realized I'd been living with borderline personality disorder all this time. The past year has been the hardest yet, and I barely made it through December, but here I am on January 2, 2024, living gingerly and looking for the Light. I am grateful for yours. Bless you.

Starting every day with thinking about what you are grateful for is extremely important. Sometimes it can seem impossible to find the energies of love and peace with any joy.
I am very grateful to be alive, to have a clean drink of water, for my heart beating and the ability to pee and poop, to have a safe place to dwell and rest my head, a friend, the opportunity to meet the day, and other things that are happening in my life. Sometimes it is necessary to take stock and enumerate the many different blessings that exist now as
I am now regardless of the circumstances surrounding me.
Spend time with the magnificence of nature. Take care of yourself yourfamily, and other people who are going through a tough time. By the way of listening deeply and being sensitive to others and to yourself with kindness and compassion in gratitude and appreciation. A simple thing like a smile or a kind word works miracles. Relax and enjoy the bountiful and unimaginable delight in life. I participated in a Grief Group for over 2 years - that and some therapy helped - I still think of him everyday - wish he could have found the happiness mentioned here.

I've been bipolar for over half a century now. Quite apart from my own existence,I deeply regret the damage and destruction I've brought upon other people's lives.People who found the energy somehow attractive, but the reality so ridiculous. Much as I'd like to go back to each of them ,and apologise and try to explain, I'm aware that being 'normal' they will have moved on with their lives,and if they remembered me at all, it would be a memory they wouldn't want to revisit.To try and apologise/explain would ,in fact,just be a purely selfish exercise in trying to assuage my own guilt.
Now,at 69 years of age, with advanced Heart Failure, I can smile at the irony of a life of self destruction finding peace with a terminal prognosis.
An irony too that I am forced to live more in the company of others, which I ,and they,find so awkward......if only my dog would learn to fetch the groceries....

Found your channel a few days ago. I’m a 59 year old male who’s had a blessed life. Most of the rough times in my life I’ve caused myself. I’ve been living with a lot of guilt caused by hurting the ones I love. Guilt will eat you from the inside out. It’s been getting better this last year. I am becoming more spiritual and slowing down. I want to be a kind,loving and peaceful person. Thank you for helping me do that.

I can relate to this on all levels. I never got as far as he did, but it has been an "adventure" being diagnosed..myself with Bipolar 3. I dont have the severe lows, but it does cause me to have a short fuse. This man is an inspiration. Learn to live each moment with joy.
