    Pay someone $30 bucks? In 2019 they were all charging around $95. As of last year the pros all want around $200! Thanks for the video.

      Maybe where you are... Still $30 here even for the "pros" doing it. Based on your pricing it sounds like you have a mansion, so you may need to pay more for that which makes sense.

      My HOA has a guy come out and go house to house once a year. $20 per house.

    Great video , good explanation , you guys are lucky , here in Canada its around 80to 120 for some irrigation team to blow it out , I have been closing and opening the system here for easily 8 years now ,

    Thank you. I knew how to do it but I needed some reassurance because I have an almost identical system. Appreciate it 👍

    Home depot and Lowes both sell the blowout valve kit in the lawn sprinkler section

    That was a wonderfully informative video! Thanks for posting.
    I'm wondering, rather than physically opening and closing each valve, couldn't you use your controller to open and close each valve?

    I’ve done this for many years and don’t exceed 40 psi, which is more than enough pressure to clear the lines.

    Hi all, is 80 psi too much for the irrigation lines? I was told do 40 psi to avoid damaging lines. Thanks.

    How long does this take you? And how long do you think it would take you if you had a larger compressor (e.g. 15gal)? Trying to decide between a 6gal pancake compressor or a larger one...

      The larger the tank the better because you will have more volume. That is the only difference between the pros blowing out your lines and DIY blowing out of your lines. Its all the same pressure setting between 60 & 80 psi. Pros have more volume going through the system which makes it faster. DIYers usually don't have high volume so it takes 45 minutes to an hour for a 4 zone blow out.

    Have you done the Rain Bird WiFi video yet?

    • @Whiteboardcoder
      @Whiteboardcoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not done that video yet I need to get to it at some point :)
      But in all honesty once I set it up... I did not use it
      It was simpler to just use the rainbird controller

    Question after i blow out each zone.
    Should I leave the valves open?

    Do it right. Rent a large tow behind compressor.

    • @xex2kok
      @xex2kok ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What does "right" entail? Getting the job done? Because in that case you would be an idiot for renting one when it is so cheap to have others do it. It would cost you double or triple that to rent one. At the end of the day the pancake does it fine.

    That is a test port and not where you want to hook air up. PSI is meaningless when blowing out sprinklers, you want to worry about CFM, hooking up there chokes your potential cfm before you even get started.

      Could you share what was wrong with this approach? Thanks.

    • @DandoBorusu
      @DandoBorusu ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@DanMcKelvey not suppose to blow compressed air through the backflow prevention valve. potential to damage... not the worst thing in the world, replacing the inside parts of the valve can be pricey.
      Its best to install an isolated blowout valve after the backflow valve.
