Man ‘o War lost only once. Who’s the best? At what distance? It is difference of opinion that makes horse racing.
Baffert found something in that horse that made him be selective, and to have similar type of super horses. Though I can be done with the abundant financial leisure one can have.

Damascus, in his prime, was probably better than any horse that Arrogate or any of the others faced. Secretariat faced Sham 4x. Sham was brilliant at CD and PIM. The great Bid beat nobody. Same for Ghostzapper. Then again, you can only beat the horses that run against you. To me, it comes down to Secretariat and Dr Fager in recent times, Man ‘o War the greatest of all time.
If every horse you train has been on drugs who wants to breed to those stallions every one in the clique the blood stock ponzi scheme works for all those so called ex quarter horse trainer's including Lucas both the worst thing ever happened to horse racing more blood on their hands than a butcher jas on his apron

If you set record times in the triple crown like secretariat did and they are still unbeaten in 2022, you are the greatest of all time. How would you know how great the horses who ran against Man o war are in order to make him the greatest of all time? I highly doubt there is much info on horses that long ago.

Grey horses can be born any color normal for their breed, but over some years, gradually turn white. If Arrogate had lived long enough, he would have become white. The vast majority of "white" horses are properly called grey. In breeds other than the Thoroughbred, "roan" is distinct from a genetic grey. Roans have a base color, usually chestnut, bay, brown or black, heavily intermixed with white, giving an effect much like that of a greying horse. But the coloration of a roan is stable; they do not turn white with time.

Wrong! American Pharoah went out a champion; Arrogate ended his career with a dud.
