In celebration of Reelfoot Lake's 200th Anniversary, Reelfoot Lake - A Journey Through Time, is a slide show set to music featuring both vintage and contemporary images.
My family back to the late 1800s was Reelfoot inhabitants. I'm 70 here in 2023 and spent many a day on the Lake. We also had roots in nearby Hickman Kentucky just about 15 miles or so away. We generally were centered at the north end of the lake at Phillipy just a couple miles from the Kentucky/ Tennessee state line. I've lived in Huntsville Alabama since the late seventies. Still get back Reelfoot and Hickman every once in a while. Only about a four hour drive to Union City or Tiptonville depending which way you come in. Always good to get back home.
My grandparents grew up there. My grandpa has since died but they both had so many stories. My grandmas cousins the Hoggs have guided hunts and fishing outfits
My Mom Betty Burdick WOOD is on the left and Lela Sabin is on the right in a picture dated 10-20-1923 with 2 men holding a 66lb Bufflow fish {said largest ever caught at Reelfoot My mom worked with Lelia Sabin 25 to 30 years ago to help find these negitives and pictures her DAD took of Reelfoot. These and many more are now displayed at Discover Park of America in Union City Tn The Picture is at 1.18 in this Great Video

Loved the old photos.
Makes me homesick a bit. I miss the days of my youth fishing and just hanging out on Reelfoot.

Grandpa AJ is at minute 1.07-1.12 in two photos. One of his fishing net & the other is of him standing in his boat. Very neat!
