You are a true artist to understand Hua Chenyu’s talent and his creativity. This is one of my favorite performances of his. The song itself is abstract, so the performance and stage setting are all very conceptual, not to be understood but to be felt. I think it’s absolutely beautiful. A masterpiece. He used polyphonic technique so that both of them sang different melodies but still in harmony. Yes, he loves to experiment with his music including his vocal (which he views it as an instrument) to give the best effects. I love his creativity and his vocal control too. I can't think of any artists who can do these except for him.

Though the lyrics may seem quite confusing in the English translation, Hua’s version of the song, with the stage design and the performance, is philosophically deep. It reminds one of such works as George Orwell’s 1984 and perhaps more relevantly Michel Foucault’s Punish and Discipline. The glass room where the two sing with the robot-like watcher-voyeurs outside represent the pressure of social norms or conformity. The girl sings of her stubborn insistence on being unconventional and on expression in her own language which she believes only a few of her own type understand. She is of course the “idiot” as the title of the song ironically suggests. Hua’s role is that of surveillance-everyone of us is placed under constant unremitted inescapable surveillance. Though at first harmonious with the female voice, he gradually channels into a distant mildly warning voice. But as the girl shows a headstrong refusal to give in, he enters an angry threatening overpowering rap. And so in the end he has to stop her “stupid” voice by throttling her. Society simply won’t stand such “idiots.”

Also note how Hua did not sing a single real word in the entire performance of Idiot, yet his side of the performance was in no way diminished!

Hua Chenyu attended “The next” season 1 and season2. You can tell how talented He is through the show . “Idiot “ was rewritten by Hua to support his mentee (contestant)MaLu. I just confirmed he was a vampire when he grabbed her by her neck 😂. I was so hesitant I thought WHY IS HE SO WHITE IS HE A VAMPIRE? I didn’t want to confirm it yet but that did it, little late but at least I found out lol

I watch the whole episode and saw him fell down on his knees right after the music stop, I only understand a bit what he said, that he almost couldn't go back to his position behind Ma Lu to continue the stage act but luckily she move forward which makes him easier (it's not in the planning).

He was rapping gibberish / wordless rapping. It's like he was chanting or cursing, very artistic
