Layens Horizontal Hive Setup Frame Install. Lyson Adjustable Bee Hive Stand 1,100 lb capacity!

Well, the weather isn't cooperating today, so I decided to upload what I currently have completed with the Horizontal Hive, specifically the Layens Hive from Dr. Leo's HorizontalHive.com
NEW STAND... well, for me anyway. I decided to include a new heavy-duty adjustable hive stand for the Layens. It's much stronger than it needs to be, but it's completely adjustable and adapted well to my uneven terrain.

I have also insulated the cover and installed a bracket for holding the cover open, I'll be showing those features in the next video about the Layens experience.
I purchased the hive, frames, and foundation from Dr. Leo's website, it was under the heading "The Best Horizontal Hive Money Can Buy".

There is no room for feeding over the top of the hive frames, each frame comes completely together and will certainly be glued up with propolis by the bees.
The hive cover has no insulation and is very thin. I have insulated the cover interior without changing the outside configuration.
The hive does not come with hinges. I have added a continuous hinge, also known as a piano hinge so the hive cover can remain on while tending to the bees.
The hive is unfinished, so you have to paint, stain, or finish the plywood that it is composed of. Insulation of the hive body is very good and includes sheep's wool.

PAINT TEST: the entrance side is painted with Valspar Exterior Semi-Gloss Latex House Paint. The service side is painted with Liquitex Artist's Non-Toxic Acrylics and Coated with Liquitex clear acrylic medium... we'll see how well they hold up to the elements.
