Having just read his autobiography, it makes me feel for him, poor kid, when he felt forced to say "I like tennis"

You sure get another picture of the father in Andre Agassi's autobiography!

Andre is now one of the finest men alive. We are all a product of our past. Mike Agassi loved his son and Andre would not be the man I

I may not be Agassi lol, but my dad was tough on me academically and extracurricular things. Kinda similar to Mike (which fun fact his name is Mike also). But despite that toughness I agree I never doubted his love for me.

0:16 _"We knew the guy had a lot of talent."_ 0:24: Almost immediately followed by: _"to the point where his father had him swatting balls out of his crib."_ Yeah, it wasn't born talent, it was an insane amount of training from the earliest possible age, combined with a parent who persisted with it, and a kid who wanted to please that parent. Talent, if it even exists, means nothing when compared to sheer hardwork and determination.

His father said "you can't keep him off the court", I'm pretty sure Andre didn't want to be on the court, his dad forced him!

You can call his father however you want, but without his work Andre would not be a champion

MaverickZG and without being a tennis champ who knows if he had ever met Steffi. Or any other woman that loved him that much

I can see the smarts of his dad ball machine are very helpful but they did used to give u a real type of shot ,repetition is hard if u don't go off to college and play against great players its tough to go any where without staying sharp and playing the better players to keep u advancing I went out with great athletic ability and incomplete game against players I could have and should have beaten but was unprepared for things that took me by surprise that had I been ready for simple stupid stuff that makes u pissed damn I can't believe I had know answer for....a game plan of prepared ness of facing an opponent I was not ready for...why a coach earns his pay....thanks smart dad....Andre has one of the fast and responsive swing I have ever seen I came from baseball into tennis and used a baseball skill of catching a ball to hitting a tennis ball, but Andres foot work speed always impressed me.

Andre didn't like to play tennis and also he didn't like his father. His father was ordering he since learn how to walk to play tennis. When they moved to living in LA, his father was looking for a house that he can construct a tennis field. His father did a tennis field by himself with some more construction workers. His father didn't ask if he really like to play tennis, he hate that game since he start to play and he didn't have any chance to choose other things to live.

It is unwise to compare a real person to a fictional character (and blades of glory?....), suggest you read Agassi's book to learn how Agassi felt first hand about his own father. Not your, mine, nor anyone else's opinion of Mike Agassi matters except those held by his children and wife.

So why is Andre so against Tennis, he's lucky his father put him into tennis if he had not he would not have all that money, fame and Steffi, he should appreciate his father what he did for him.

I just wanted to say I think it’s nice that we have a man with a hell of a talent who is known for playing this sport being that he has Iranian blood in him. I wish more people have heard of him so that we don’t keep hearing that middle eastern people own gas stations and liquor stores. Not every one of them do! They do other things too! That stereotype gets so old! People are so quick to hate on all the Arabs yet forget that the Israelis are the problem and their agenda of taking out all of us whites is being ignored but recently I’ve noticed more and more people walking up to the truth. So to the Jewish people.. I ask for once in your lives.. stop playing the victim card and stop with pinning people as anti-Semitic every chance you get. I know you can’t defend yourselves. So now do the right thing and come clean and maybe more people would be able to tolerate you! It’s you guys who created racism. Your wicked ways are the reason why Hitler did what he did (( if he even did anything other than give you a shower and put you to work ))

Damaddog Pelletier it was necessary to farm in order to survive. Tennis is not a necessity.

DiddlySquat very well then. Although without tennis you know where he’d be? He’d be a bum. He’d be a street sweeper in Las Vegas. He didn’t do well in school- he would be nowhere compared to where he is now. My parents were tough academically on me as a kid. If I fell behind, they’d revoke privileges. Oh and my Dad could get firey. Did he scare me? Yes. Are there aspects that I wish were a little bit different? Yes. But I’m in my early twenties living an amazing life with a college degree and Med school coming up. That’s the benefit
