I am a Nigerian and I live in Nigeria. But I consider myself as an Anglophile. I know so much about British history and I can mention all the sovereigns of England and later Britain from when Henry VII came to the throne in 1485 to Queen Elizabeth II and now King Charles III. I know in 1688 two monarchs King William III and Queen Mary II were crowned as co- monarchs; The narrator of the documentary mentioned Queen Mary II as wearing the consort crown. Pls I need clarification on that.
You should honour your ancestors who fought the British by learning your own history and not your colonizers history. Britain is still profiting from tons of stolen Nigerian artifacts.
@@stephfoxwell4620 Why do you call it a Dutch coup, wasn't Queen Marry II the elder daughter of the deposed King James II who converted to catholicism?.
Just explained it in another comment. The Dutch King came with 560 ships and 40,000 soldier's to invade our country and embroil us in endless wars with France
Cromwell presided over an effort to destroy our past and our culture. Whitewashing church; interiors, smadhing and burning medieval art treasures. A shameful period of our history. He also got us involved in the transatlantic slave trade with the Dutch puritans.
Why present such nonsense about our past? This was not Glorious. It was a Dutch coup. The Dutch King came here with 560 ships and 40,000 troops. He didn't dare sail up the Thames. He landed in South Devon and spent seven weeks advancing on London. At the Coronation of William the Capital was occupied and surrounded by 34,000 Dutch troops. Three times the English forces. By 1692 William saddled us with a vast debt and 125 years of war against the French. A Dutch coup.
Invited by seven aristocrats and bishops out of literally hundreds. If he was invited he could have come in one ship and sailed up the Thames ,not armed to the teeth.
Yea a Cambridge educated professional historian is the one talking nonsense and Steph Foxwell who works in Tesco has all the answers. Be quiet you gimp.

William and Mary had to be crowned by the Bishop of Westminster as the Archbishops of Canterbury and York refused.

Starkey is a great historian. The comment from Guitar crazy shows what you'll get if you give 16olds the vote.
Yeah you can get arrested at 16 but you can't vote.
