Really love how Kenny gets pissed and almost pulls the trigger when Rod insults Uri. Goes to show how he actually respected him even after his death, and wasn’t loyal to him just because of his Ackermann bond. The way he talks to Uri in his flashbacks and such does not differ much from how he talks with anyone, but not even that deep down he seem’d to consider Uri as his equal, and friend. And he still carries his memory, just as Levi remembers Erwin and his final order to skever the beast titan, even long after the commander’s death.

Can someone explain what were the true motives of rod reiss and why he wanted historia to eat eren?
In short, Rod is kind of a coward since he didn't want to inherit the founding titan, because he saw himself as an observer and wanted to have more children, just in case. The other reason is that he didn't want his mind to be manipulated by the ideology of Karl Fritz. Since he has an illegitimate daughter with royal blood he can have her become the next founding titan and save himself the trouble of becoming one and shorten his own life span. There are probably other reasons like he needed his lifespan to be a king for a longer time but i'm not sure.

( sorry for asking all this, the thing is i watched s3 a long time ago and I can't remember what happened in it and I'm full of doubts and I don't want to go and watch it again and even if I did.. I probably won't understand it cuz the politics part was kinda complicated)
Since she's the illegitimate daughter of Rod and one of his house servants that would create a scandal so instead of having her killed by Kenny she was sent out to live a new life with a new identity. To help with the situation Frieda Reiss who was the founding titan at the time erased her memories for her new life.
Rod was actually a noble guy with a good cause. We see in a flashback that him and his brother had a dream to obtain the founder and rid the world of titans. But unfortunately King Fritz made to to where anyone who inherits the founder is bound to not eliminate the titans or wage war on the other countries. So when his brother finally got the founder Rod noticed he changed completely and was unable to follow through. At this point though Rod is just trying to retake the founder to return it to the Reiss bloodline to regain control of the kingdom that was usurped from his family. He doesn't want to inherit it himself for two reasons, because the Curse of Ymir means he will die early after a few years and because he is the one with all the knowledge of the situation and the process. If he dies off there is noone else who understands everything about the succession ritual and the founder. He wants Historia to carry the weight of the founder while he gets to live a long life and make more children to pass the founder down to after Historia dies, all while pulling the strings.

Why Rod Reiss didn't want to become a titan?
he is basically a coward, that’s why
Isayama himself explained this in an interview.
"He thought of himself as just an observer, and in order to preserve the Reiss bloodline, he may have thought that he needed to stay human and make more children. He would have to become the Founding Titan, and he was most likely afraid that he wouldn't be able to fight against the First King's ideology, just like his father and Uri weren't able to."
