I’ve always loved the Flat Irons, ever since they debuted on the original SCX-10 kit back in 2009. They resemble a BFG Krawler that has been siped in my opinion.
Thank you for your video. It really helped me in customizing my Traxxas TRX4 2021 Bronco. I got some Injora 2.2 wheels and 1.9 Flat Iron XL tires and mounted everything, without bubble juice and now it looks sick. Thank you!
Love my 4 sets, the look too. Can wrinkle up like a drag slick in a good pinch. It's either a crawl it up line or a quarter throttle bump and run. Super predictable. As a con, I run 3Bros Anti-foams in my Zero Class 8.5lbs TRX4 Sport trail truck. The stiff edge of the insert rubs against the outer sidewall and rocks causing tears. I don't care and apply shoe goo every 3rd or 4th run. Thanks for your video!
Before I even watch this video. I’m going to say these tires are a performer. I’ve had a couple sets and in my Michigan ground they are top notch right? Crawling tires. But let’s watch the video and find out what you think.
I’ve found reasonable success with dual stage in the front for stability on side hills and diagonal descents (with a lot of forward weight bias), and soft rear for good bumping and climbing. Is that a combo the works in The Canyon?
The current hot ticket seems to be my "softs" in the front (double wrap of reticulated polyethylene over a Timtin inner) and "medium" rear, which is just the tried-and-true double bun. This might be because of how I have my suspension setup, but the very soft rear tends to over-compress and I lose a lot of forward drive. I don't know if it's the absolute best setup yet, but it's what's working best for now.
Based strictly on their performance? I'd give a 7.5, maybe a 7.7 depending on application. Taking into account price & Pro-Line? I might go as high as a 6.2.
up to u, u gonna have to try my 3d printed inserts for the hyrax, i have a few vids up crawling with them on the one im replying to u on and they make the hyraxes really good@@CrawlerCanyon
Ratings in categories such as uphill, side and descent grip, type of foam used and maybe f/r position….*scratches head*….Doc, you test so many tires that I can’t keep up!
I almost said none, but I remembered I had to put in C-hubs because the stock ones were flexing and rubbing on the universals. No knuckles, diff cover, etc. Running the battery on top of the servo is a nearly-free quarter pound on the front axle.
AFAIC, the Flat Iron, Krawler, and KM3 are the French Vanilla, Vanilla Bean, and Vanilla of tires. They look pretty much the same... but also different. They probably didn't call these KM2s for fear of confusing people.
If you still have them it'd be cool to see Crawlers vs Flat Irons
I wish I’d heard of the bubble juice trick 6 beadlock sets ago 😅🤦♂️🙏

Crawler canyon is the one of the coolest places i know❤❤❤ thanks so much for bringing me every day🎉🎉🎉
I remember my first Axial Honcho with those OEM wheels, if I didn't go over obstacles, I did it under, digging. Great tires!!
Man...those Flat Irons crawl like a boss - they are still one of the best tires and are totally underrated !!!
The original non-XL version are even better, from the before times. New G8 ≠ old G8.
I wore my flat irons plumb out on my trx4 k10. They get better with seasoning for sure.
Yes! Love my Flat Iron XL G8s on our RGT EX86170.
Super underrated tire. Everyone praises the Hyrax and BFGs but disregards these.
Another great test of the tires. Thank You ShackerMT once again for providing them. Nice looking for sure.
I love my flatiron xl in g8
I have a set of 4.2 pro line flat irons that still go into rigs during the dry season. Underrated tire for sure.
Ohhhhh. Another proline tire eh. Thanks shakermt for sending in the tires 😎😎😎
I wonder if they come in Predator compound? Great looking tire. For crawling. 👍
These Flat Irons do indeed look very good 😎
Thx @shakermt!
The tread pattern reminds me of some BFG MT's I had on an Isuzu Trooper a few years back. That truck was unstoppable once I put those tires on it
Happppy Saturday everyone
I've been impressed with the G8 Proline tires I've used. Still trading them away for Tusks, but that's about the only tire I would trade them for.

Awesome love the proline tire tests !
Looks wise, these are near the top of my list on the best looking scale tires. They just hit right. 🤷♂️

what would u reccomend those on a scale of 1-10 for how good they r, 10 being best
A spreadsheet with ratings may be in order, huh

@@durden.tyler537 What criteria do you want to see on this mythical spreadsheet? I have no idea. My tire ratings are crazy subjective. I think.

Love all of your tire tests, especially since I also recently picked up an SE. Are you running much for brass up front??

Thanks keep up the good work! Would love to see a rock beast test!

I'd also like to point out, Baja pro x lug noise drives me nuts. The flat iron XLs are much quieter
What's bubble juice? The stuff you blow bubbles with?
Yessir. I've been mounting both bicycle and RC tires with the same 32oz bottle for almost a decade. It lasts nearly forever.
@@CrawlerCanyon thanks!!
Hey lil lizard bro.
They look ALOT like BFG Km2s.
