    i think cody left so fast because he was already planning to leave but he wanted to take crosshair with him which is why he was vibe-checking his mentality considering him and the batch were friends. i think he was tryna do him a solid as/for a friend and him comiting the last murder was the icing on the cake to cody that he shouldnt take him with him
    i feel like the next episode would be cool if we see how cody escaped which probably would involve rex and the batch
    also the shot of crosshair alone in front of the list of dead was pretty cool and symbolic

    I saw someone else point out that at the beginning Crosshair wakes up to an alarm. After talking with Cody, he is lying awake waiting for it showing he's not sleeping as well anymore. I thought that was a really interesting subtle detail

  • @Dalton_Boardman2000

    Crosshair is realizing a few things
    -The Empire cares about the clones about the same as a shit under their boot.
    -Despite being loyal to their new masters, the other clones still look down upon him as an outcast. The only one who didn't is scared off by his ruthless mentality.
    -He had a chance to be with an actual family who accepted him but he turned them away. While he's alone at a cafeteria table Omega's somewhere eating mantell mix with the gang and is either enthusing about another successful mission or being glad they walked out alive on a failed one. Either one she's happily content with her close knit group while Crosshair feels a crushing sense of loneliness.

      Its also difficult to accept Hunters words to him last season, that he'll be nothing more than a number to the Empire, which he is seeing when he asked about Cody. Going to be interesting to see what they do with him going forward.

      Yeah, my point exactly. TBB replaced Crosshair with the girl they barely knew so easily. And then they just forgot about his very existence.
      Empire may not be the best choice for him (or for anyone), but with brothers, who treated him like sh*t, who never ever tried to show him compassion and understanding, who left him in the hands of the enemy multiple times?.. If I had such brothers, I'd stay with the Empire too. After all, it was evil Empire, who saved Crosshair from certain death on Kamino, not his "loving" brothers. So with the Empire he's a number. With TBB he's nothing. Simple as that.

  • @catswithlasers
    @catswithlasers ปีที่แล้ว +10

    For me I really liked that Cody seemed to almost channel Obi-Wan with how he tried to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the whole situation. As Grievous said, "Ah yes, the negotiator."
    Also, I feel like it's so messed up that Governor Ames still revered Dooku. He was the one who ordered the death of Mina Bonteri, in order to stop the peace treaty she was going to propose, and that she had written with Tawni Ames. It's just kind of wild to see that all tie together.
    I hope that Crosshair starts to see how ridiculous the "good soldiers follow orders is" when he continues to see the clones treated like droids by Rampart and the rest of the Imperials. Like how Rampart only refers to them by their numbers, and not their names, just like Pong Krell.

    • @JoeFF85
      @JoeFF85 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The chips work perfectly, within the guidelines the Kaminoans had. They made loyal Clone soldiers for the Republic, who would follow the orders of the Republic Leadership including Order 66. They were never trained to be Imperials, and the chips don't work to enforce loyalty to the Empire the way they did for the Republic.
      Palpatine never revealed his full plan to anyone. Even if the Kaminoans needed to know about Order 66, it was still coached as an 'in case of Jedi Rebellion break glass' thing internally.

    Loved Cody growing a conscience and going awol from the Empire. Also i am almost sure Cody was already thinking about leaving at the start of the episode and was probing Crosshair about it too with the question about other clones deserting. And the TK troopers invading force after they took the city was the tipping point.
    By the way, pretty sure the "solitary clone" refers to both Crosshair and Cody. They did after all made sure we saw things from both of their perspectives during the episode.

  • @lazersharkman
    @lazersharkman ปีที่แล้ว +13

    This has to be one of my favorite animated episodes from Star Wars period. I personally think the whole 'Cody going AWOL' and the conversation about clone loyalty is a underhanded jab towards Crosshair, stating that Rampart knows that Crosshair lied in his report, and that he had Cody disposed of. I think they got rid of Cody (by either killing or imprisoning him) because he refused an order from the governor earlier in the episode and that they possibly knew of his remorsefulness from order 66. If Cody is alive, I would love to see more of him, maybe have him try to atone for himself in some way.

    I think a lot of fans are overthinking the Clones. It was the chips that made them execute order 66; they didn't have a choice. Now, it seems like the chips effectiveness of making the Clones essentially organic droids is wearing and their sense of right and wrong is rising to the surface. Had this been Cody immediately after "killing" Kenobi, he would've shot the governor without question, but now it's been at least a year and Cody is starting to act like Howzer, where the chip still has enough influence on him that it's keeping him from feeling remorse for what he did, but at the same time, questions if they're on the right side. If Cody gets his chip removed this season, we would definitely see all the guilt rush through him as he realizes he "killed" his best friend.
    And this is why Palpatitine gets rid of the Clones, because he knows that the chips are loosing its influence on them. Had the chips kept the Clones as obedient soldiers, he would've kept the elite soldiers over the inferior Stormtroopers any day.

Absolutely Cody & Cross have worked together, Season 7 of the Clone Wars. It was also eluded to that the Batch had worked with the Commander in previous missions as well. Plus, Crosshair *has always respected Cody.* And he more than likely took the shot *because he thought Cody would be punished or worse* if they let Tawni Ames live. Cody just went through a nuanced version of the whole, "Are we the baddies?" thing. Poor guy and other clones are clearly breaking free from the chips, slowly but steadily, having to live with the guilt now. That plus the corruption and the general puppy kicking the Empire does right from the start would put off any good clone. The rot of the Empire being there right from the beginning shows how it was doomed before it even began, it kept making enemies by being dicks supreme and I guess to sum up, being evil in Star Wars sucks, because defeat is inevitable.

It's possible most clones didn't stop to think about what they'd done until after the fact, which is pretty tragic.

Despite tarkin views of clones he does want useful soldiers and see crosshair is a valuable asset while crosshair wants purpose as a soldier. Tarkin will give him that purpose.

    Rampart has Crosshair caught in a lie... And he will use that to his advantage.

    I hadn't been impressed with the first two episodes, but this one just knocks it out of the park. I hope this is the quality going forward.

    The way Cody reacts to Crosshair saying the Jedi were traitors....... I don't think his chip has been working for a while. I think he's just playing along

    10:36 Now, I wonder if Crosshair could be a Grey Paladin? They were known for such accuracy as to shoot down the barrel of an enemy's gun/blaster. Though, Crosshair would probably be like a Dark Jedi to them, obviously.
    Also, could you, or anyone translate any of the names on The War Memorial in this episode? Maybe, there are some Easter Eggs in those "names".

    If Rampart doesn't get a 3rd eye courtesy of CT9904 Crosshair, I will bet his plan to purge and discredit clones runs up against Vader and his 501st veterans.
    Crosshair doesn't miss, he hit absolutely everything he aimed at... Tank squad droids should have taken a lesson from Silverado "today my Jurisdiction stops here".
    Tank barrel shot not good enough for you? OK, hold my beer and throw this puck.🧐

    To be honest my first thought about Cody's "desertion" was that: shit, they killed him. But maybe he truly left...

    I suspect we will get an explanation/flashback from Cody on him going AWOL whenever he links up with the Bad Batch, hopefully will tell them about other things he witnessed that made him question his loyalty to the Empire

    Possible theories about Commander Cody he might've went AWOL to meet up with Rex, Gregor and Wolffe (which I hope we see how they all meet up) but I think he dies in the process. Or Cody meets up with The Bad Batch. But my last theory is it could be a manipulation by Admiral Rampart to find out what Crosshair know's about the Bad Batch.

    Or Cody was killed when Rampart read the report from the governor
    And as for the control chips I've always considered them to be a mix of several different bring washing things one the Clones had dreams that they consciously didn't remember and once they're under the influence of an activated chip they are almost either compelled to execute the order or in Rex's and Wrecker's case realize what's going on and attempting to fight it with little or no success as if their trapped in their own bodies as Observers

    From my understanding the order from the ship weared off a couple of months after order 66, because right after order 66 no clone acted like themselves, they acted cold and like droids, but the more the time went by we saw more clones start being themselves. So since Cody doesn't know about the ship he thinks that he made the choice killing Kenobi and now feels bad. It was clearly indicated that Cody was questioning the order, and I think them straight up murdering the governor was the breaking point for Cody. You could see how disappointed he was.

    Wilco was killed on screen, maybe Cody was killed off screen and said to have went AWOL. Maybe the Vice Admiral is speeding up the phasing out of the Clones by killing them. Just thinking outside the box. Enjoying Bad Batch.

    The last, Far, the BEST chapter of the series so far and the funny thing is that the protagonists didn't even appear haha The truth is that good memories of clone wars brought me this chapter and more when I saw Cody and all the droids... (I was very bad when rampart said that he was missing 😔 I hope he hasn't died) .. I hope that all the chapters that come are similar

    Some interesting moments in this episode. I get the feeling that crosshair executed the lady to help Cody. Rather than wait and see what happens. I also hope Cody has really gone awol. I imagine Wilko has also "gone awol" officially...
