I still can't get over the fact that we now have WKUK in HD. I feel like an 1890s Parisian recoiling in horror at the Lumiere brothers movie of a train coming into the station.
I think that's the theme of the sketch, relief after dealing with a chronic annoyance. The earthquake made everyone really cranky and on edge, and when it stopped, everyone basically laughed off the whole indecency trial.

Fan theory: The sofa moves during the earthquake and it is facing the opposite direction as the TV. Because the earthquake has been going on for so long, it can be assumed that the sofa has been spun around in the two day process. It hasn't been fixed yet because the quake is still going on and it would spin again.

The D&D series is actually probably a better sketch troupe starter tutorial than it is a fantasy role playing session. Just do what Trevor suggests you do in that, and you'll be on your way to sketch troupe gold faster than WKUK arbitrarily heel turns on an OwlBear.
I'm super happy these are coming out in HD. WKUK got me through some REALLY rough times back in the day. They're literally pros at pointing out the human condition...they've always made me feel not so alone in this stupid penal colony we call Earth. True artists.
Stacy Ladynews is my favorite fake name of the entire series. Her poorly applied makeup is so funny to me And "well the goddamnfuckinglight hit me in the head" never fails to make me laugh. A truly brilliant sketch on so many levels

When your content is so good all you have to do to make a pile of money off it again is to wait 10 years and replay it one skit at a time on the internet.

I just noticed a lot of the newspaper text is someone just mashing the same row of keys to fill it out. It really adds to the charm. Also, apparently this all happened on Monday, November 15th, 1983.
That was a subtle joke-the defendant says he swore because the light hit him in the head. Then the juror says "fudgey stuff" instead of swearing when the light hits him in the head. Then the defendant's lawyers mutter "well, this isn't looking good."
One day artificial intelligence will allow us to create a version of every WKUK episode but make them happier and with their mouths waaaaaay more open. Even the happier and with your mouth open sketch.

I love how the earthquake barely matters by the end of the sketch but is absolutely integral to the punchline

I live in an area with hurricanes and I feel like this when the power goes out for hours or days and suddenly comes back on. It’s the best.

The ending to this sketch is unusually wholesome for WKUK.
