El Cascador I agree. It’s sad because what they’re essentially saying is that considered feminine is weak and bad. I always saw empathy, nurturing, and compassion as great things associated with femininity.
Topg1 It’s also not just feminine qualities that can make a female character strong for sure, but take Daenerys for example. She has abilities that are neither feminine nor masculine. She’s smart, calculating, intuitive. She’s one of my favourite female characters, mostly in the books because you know likely what happened with her in the show. I still love her in the show. Just a show. Anyway I’m getting sidetracked. My point is that combining these traits with feminine traits certainly makes interesting characters. The sad thing is that with Game of Thrones people tend to prefer female characters like Arya who is, at least, a tomboy. She’s rather masculine and people tend to prefer her to Daenerys.

I think something thats so important about Padme's character is how feminine she is. All throughout the second and third film she's always wearing very pretty and luxurious outfits, she also always has her hair done up, she is portrayed in a very feminine way. What's so great about this is that her being feminine isn't taken way, she isn't more masculine in order to have badass lines and scenes. She's in the arms of a very strong man but she walks away from him, she decides her own fate and she sticks to her morals. Natalies explanation is perfect. I love her so much
@@aisthetikos7721 what, we see one of the only correct portrayal of feminists in movie history with them being bad ass bit still very female and you disagree, how so
what I found so feminist about Padmé was in the end how she decided not to go with Anakin. She had a strong set of morals and when the love of her life breeched them, she drew the line, she was able to hold her own against the guys without losing her femininity. That's what made her such an important role model when I was a little girl watching these movies.
She didn’t decide not to go with Anakin really she tried to convince him and literally said there was still good in him. He literally choked her before she could really make a choice.
@@mehdiali9909 that’s not really a choice, she’s doing that to try to convince him to go with her. I mean I guess what I was trying to make a point for was that I don’t get why feminism has to be put into her trying to convince him, she’s just a strong person, it’s got nothing to do with her being a women or not.
That’s not exactly true either. She did draw the line at ruling the galaxy together, but if Anakin had accepted her plea to run away with her to Naboo, she would have totally accepted that. I always took away the exact opposite interpretation of this scene: it showed how much Padme loved Anakin that she was willing to leave behind her career and forgive all he had done if he would only run away with her. Her love for him was so powerful that she believed in his goodness until her dying breath. That’s what I think makes her and Anakin’s story so powerful and tragic. Padme’s love wasn’t enough to keep Anakin from falling, but it was enough to eventually redeem him.
