Been in Tampa (Riverview) 21 years now. Traffic and congestion are getting so bad, we're thinking of moving out of Hillsborough County. I don't even leave the house now during certain hours. They are still building apartments everywhere and not widening any roads. Don't get me wrong, I love it here. Tons to do, and it is in close proximity to everything Florida has to offer. However, when it takes me over an hour to drive an eighth of a mile to the grocery store sitting in gridlocked traffic that's not right.
Yes it’s awful in Riverview. The county has allowed developers to build with little to no impact fees and little thought about the infrastructure needs. Multi family complexes are built on a two lane road and they aren’t even required to add a turn lane. If this area with all it’s two lanes roads, had to evacuate due to something like a forest fire, people would not be able to get out. Water shortages and low water pressure in Southern Hillsborough due again to lack of planning for infrastructure needs. Some seriously poor planning and management by our country commissioners.

Saludos! Very nice summary of Tampa. I am familiar with Florida, lived in Miami for 8+ years. Now looking to return to the sunshine state from Denver. Interested in the second city choice if it wasn’t Tampa.
I grew up in Clearwater. I've been living in Cleveland for the past 12 years and I'm ready to leave and go back to the Tampa Bay area. I can't take this weather anymore.
Depends on the area and how close you are for water. If you’re right on water or in lowland areas, you’d probably evacuate just because your street will flood. Most sturdily built homes hold up just fine in a cat 3. A cat 4 or 5 is where you have to worry about having a sturdy house on high land, with hurricane shutters. People who don’t have that should evacuate. We have not been hit by anything higher than a 1 or 2 in over 100 yrs. If you want to live on water, get storm shutters and live on s second floor condo or a house with the garage on ground floor.
This is so good! Thank you for this. Can you tell me what area in Tampa is racially/ethnically diverse? I am coming from an area where I walk down the street and hear different languages and have options to eat at different restaurants from all over the world. Would love to experience something similar in Tampa. Thank you!
Other side of Florida, but Miami has exactly what you’re saying. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and surrounding areas. So much diversity there. Many people from the Caribbean, central, and South American. Also some Asian populations and a variety of Asian restaurants as well. Miami is an Ethnic restaurant hub! So much good food.
Me and my bride warm married in Orlando and honeymoon in Clearwater Beach. Have special feelings for the Tampa Bay area and is a wonderful place to be. Hopefully one of these days we'll be home again.
Hey!! So we live in the Tampa Bay area also and i'm wondering where that sidewalk is by the water at 14:51. We are always looking for new places to walk close to water. Thank you!!!!
Great video guys! Just wondering if you guys have an idea as to what services for business are much needed in Florida, as I plan to move with my family on the west side of Florida near Sarasota and just wanted to know what business would be good to invest in before coming down there. Any advice or info would be very helpful. 🙏🏼
Where in NY are you guys from? I live on long island n grew up in Brooklyn bensonhurst. My brother lives in Tampa? How is the job market there? Is there a lot of homeless there?
Nice video. My wife, my daughter and I are thinking about moving to the Florida, and I did consider South Florida, primarily because it very walkable. So for us with a 3-year it’s important not to depend too much on a car, although emergencies happen, still we want to be close to clinics, bodegas, schools, stores, and if possible highly populated Spanish neighborhoods. Any advice? How about Dunedin is it very walkable? What do you know about other walkable cities? The only areas I know well is Miami, Kissimmee, Haines city, Lake Wales, and Orlando, but only from what I have seen so far, by far Miami has things near, very walkable, but I’m trying to live not too far from my son who lives in Lake Wales. It’s nice and quite, but since I’m in my 50’s I need things to be walkable. Thanks, guys for understanding. Oh, by the way, I’m from NYC also. God bless.
I know this place too well because after your 2nd or 3rd sentence I knew your ethnicity and probably where you were from. LOL. No disrespect. I'm 4th generation Floridian and have watched this state change for good and for bad over my almost 50 years and this state has never seen the prosperity it is seeing now in my lifetime. All while under poor global conditions, only due to great leadership. If you do move down here, please leave the New York political mindset behind. Sorry for the rant. I'm just trying to preserve this great state.
If you are moving to enjoy what we enjoy is due to conservative policies, that’s great, otherwise please don’t bring liberal Democratic ideas to our state. We don’t want it Floridians are conservatives and I am sure your are moving because of our safe streets, low taxes, clean roads, and respect for the law. Try to keep it that way
nice video! You're a nurse, eh? Hows the Job market and pay down there? my wife and i are both nurses and are entertaining the idea of moving down there from NJ. Thanks!
In all the years that we've lived in Tampa Bay, we've only lost electricity a handful of times, usually it is turned back on within a few hours and only once did we lose electricity for a few days. Other than picking up a few branches in our yard, the damage is usually very minimal, just like any bad summer storm that I can compare it to in NY state. We make sure we have extra water and supplies and that's about it.
@@OlgasFlavorFactory I'm originally from NYC and moved down to Virginia for work. Now, I am researching which county I would like to retire. Tampa is on the list. Are all the homes up to code on hurricane guidelines in State of Florida or that's the property owners responsibility.
I always loved all the tiny lizards when I lived there. Made me feel like a giant living in Jurassic park when I would walk and they would all scamper out on the sidewalk in front of me.
Like any large metro area most of the city officials are democrat, but unlike most democrat run cities Tampa is not what I would consider liberal. The Bay area is very much a reflection of the state itself, swing state leaning Right.
We have some decent sports teams in the Tampa area! Thank you for mentioning churches. I live 10 miles inland, directly east of Tampa. We DO still benefit from breezes here. This is a highly agricultural area and a lot of open land. Churches are every where. Finding more and more non-denominational but it is part of the traditional, Florida culture. People are friendly. Neighbors get to know each other. And there are plenty of kids outside playing.
Thanks, what county and neighborhood? My wife and I are considering retirement near there. Any really good hospitals nearby? Appreciate your recommendations.
@@thisismagacountry1318 Tampa is in Hillsborough County and I've lived near Plant City most of my life. The eastern side of the county, inland. Neighborhoods are popping up on both sides of I-75, the whole length of Florida. I like the west coast beaches on the Gulf of Mexico because of the warmer water and smaller waves. These are where Florida's highest ranked beaches are, like Clearwater. It is on the U.S. list every year. Being that Florida is very much a place where people like to retire, the medical field is HUGE here. I know of three GREAT cancer hospitals: Shands in Gainesville, MD Anderson in Orlando, and Moffitt in Tampa. I imagine Jacksonville, Sarasota, and Miami have great hospitals, too, as they are large cities. Tampa General Hospital is used by MacDill Air Force Base...and the Tampa Bay Sports Association. Tampa also has a great Veteran's hospital. Whether you are looking for acres of beautiful green pastures, huge grandfather oaks swooping with Spanish Moss, or sand and palm trees, Florida has that range of landscape.
We are planning on moving to Florida in a year or so, we were debating whether to move to Orlando or Tampa, this video just make that decision more easier. Thank you. Tampa it is ❤️

I know you mentioned you don't want to say exactly where you live, but can you give an approximate location? we are looking to move to Tampa in near future, and would love to know what areas are good areas closer to the beaches, but also closer to the jobs? Thank you!
Can you do a video on homeschooling in Florida? What has your experience been like? Is there any government financial support for homeschooling families? What is required of homeschoolers in Florida from the state?
You can find out any details about homeschool requirements for each state on hslda.org. You can also google the county that you are interested in to get more details of what they require. I am not aware of any financial government support for homeschool families, but there are many inexpensive options available. There are tons of very helpful homeschool videos on homeschool, so I'm sure you can find the information that you are looking for. My channel is mostly about kitchen, cooking and home, so I am not going to be doing a homeschool video at this time.
I don't have a lot of insight about the Orlando area, so I'm not sure. I shared about Tampa Bay because we've lived here for more than a decade. I can't share an opinion about an area that we only visit once in a while.
I have lived in the city of Tampa for 66 years and visited Orlando frequently over that time frame because of relatives that lived there and the amusement parks. Orlando is mainly a tourist town, and the traffic is horrendous. Tampa is more progressive and the employment opportunities are awesome. Many large corporations have moved here as well. I would recommend Tampa if you are looking for variety such as professional sports, dining, entertainment and many options to live and work. Good luck !

I grew up in Clearwater. I've been living in Cleveland for the past 12 years and I'm ready to leave and go back to the Tampa Bay area. I can't take this weather anymore.
I’m in Cleveland now and I wanna get out. So sad here
Yeah, did you go to Clearwater high school too? I lived on Drew street off hwy 19! Ready to go back...🌴
@@gabrielleangelica1977 I sure did. Between 1999 and 2002.
@@gabrielleangelica1977 I remember Drew. I stayed on Fernwood where SPJC is.
@@trinibagowaynecaribbean1611 Those were good times...🛸
I was just about to drive up there for a job...but have to wait for Ian to do its thing. Shelter time I guess
Is there a category (3, 4, 5) of hurricane you would leave the area for and how many days in advance would you leave? Thanks.
@@arinzykes5715 Storm surge is much more of risk compared to wind. Hide from the wind, run from the water. Weather men say it all the time…
This is so good!
Amazing family.
Waiting.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me and my bride warm married in Orlando and honeymoon in Clearwater Beach. Have special feelings for the Tampa Bay area and is a wonderful place to be. Hopefully one of these days we'll be home again.
Definitively thinking about Florida. I don't know if I can handle another Montana winter.

How do you deal with hurricanes ?
We don’t want it
Floridians are conservatives and I am sure your are moving because of our safe streets, low taxes, clean roads, and respect for the law.
Try to keep it that way
nice video! You're a nurse, eh? Hows the Job market and pay down there? my wife and i are both nurses and are entertaining the idea of moving down there from NJ. Thanks!
How do I get to the the blog to see all the recommendations?

What do you know about phosphorus mining in Tampa area? How is ecology of this area?
I don’t know anything about it.
how do you deal with hurricane in Tampa..
@@Brooklynyc918 I don’t know anything about real estate codes.
Ok...thank you for sharing your experiences.
Sleep through it.
When I lived in Lithia I remember heat index hitting 118. heat was indescribable.
We have been looking a house there zero luck 🥺
I always loved all the tiny lizards when I lived there. Made me feel like a giant living in Jurassic park when I would walk and they would all scamper out on the sidewalk in front of me.
That’s the perfect description:). I love it.
Come on back!
Great videos guys.
Quick question. How are the people there? Is tampa a liberal city or more conservative?
Like any large metro area most of the city officials are democrat, but unlike most democrat run cities Tampa is not what I would consider liberal. The Bay area is very much a reflection of the state itself, swing state leaning Right.
Who cares just live life
Can you please tell me what the building at 33 seconds is?
The Pier in downtown St. Petersburg.
Thank you!
Thank you.
Tampa it is ❤️
Good choice Nelzon 👍
I love how transparent and traditional your family is. You all have a beautiful family and I trust you are raising your sons to be strong men who have a deep love and reverence from God. Thank you for such an insightful video. God Bless!

I know you mentioned you don't want to say exactly where you live, but can you give an approximate location? we are looking to move to Tampa in near future, and would love to know what areas are good areas closer to the beaches, but also closer to the jobs?
Thank you!
Sorry, I don't want to disclose any locations and "good" areas are a matter of opinion.
South Tampa is a nice area that is close to beaches and jobs 😃
@@arinzykes5715 what zip codes? We are a family of 3 moving to Tampa next year
Can you do a video on homeschooling in Florida? What has your experience been like? Is there any government financial support for homeschooling families? What is required of homeschoolers in Florida from the state?
You can find out any details about homeschool requirements for each state on hslda.org. You can also google the county that you are interested in to get more details of what they require. I am not aware of any financial government support for homeschool families, but there are many inexpensive options available. There are tons of very helpful homeschool videos on homeschool, so I'm sure you can find the information that you are looking for. My channel is mostly about kitchen, cooking and home, so I am not going to be doing a homeschool video at this time.

I’m considering a move to the Orlando area. Do you think it has as many pluses as the Tampa area?
Good luck !
@@Winnib7479 Thank you for sharing!
No. Orlando is far from the beach and the a lot of the economy is tourism. But a nice downtown though
Nope. Very transiate with no personality. It's all about Disney and packing in tourists.
Great video!
thanks🙏🙏🙏
What a lovely couple
Hurricane season in Tampa does not begin at the end of summer, it lasts from app. June 1, to Nov. 30.
Fun fact: the summer version of hibernation, is "estivation."
Great video! Thank you.. It made me think about moving to Tampa. My daughter considering Tampa. Was worried about alligators/humidity. But now not so much. Lived 20yrs in Az love the dry heat, but can deal a few months with humidity. Also, I did homeschooling with my two who are grown now. Calvert School courses out of Hunt Valley Maryland. Fabulous materials. Check it out! Keep doing Florida videos, very helpful. thx so much!!
Don’t walk your dogs near retention ponds. If there’s water, expect gators. They won’t bother you, but they’ll grab your poodle. Be smart.
The humidity in Florida makes it unexcepible to ever want to live there. The pacific coast is unbeatable weather wise and geographically.
That’s why it’s great that everyone has different preferences where they want to live:).
I’m sure the Pacific coast is beautiful and has many positives as well.
