    My favorite player of all time is Tim Duncan. I don't think I will ever forget balling in tears when I watched his jersey retirement ceremony. Despite this, I am with you completely. It annoys me how fans treat there favorite players like deity's and bash anyone who says anything against their player. I see this a lot with Kobe fans, LeBron fans and MJ fans. If I say I liked Duncan's career better, I am not stabbing Kobe's career. I'll say he was a super talented player. I just like how Duncan handled himself, his willingness to sacrifice for the team, and how he just wanted to win and did not care about flashy moments. At the end of the day, basketball is a beautiful game, and these players and others helped make it what it is. :)

      I agree. I am also a big Tim Duncan fan. He is my favorite player replacing Kareem Abdul Jabbar. His demeanor and simple yet powerfully effective playing is just damn near perfect. As a teammate Tim was grounded, humble, and wasn't a stat chaser like many stars who followed. Tim's turnaround bank shot was money. It was as good as the shot we take on a billiard table. I guess if I was able to play basketball as a pro Tim Duncan would be me. I consider Kareem Abdul Jabbar the GOAT because he excelled in basketball at all levels - High School, College, and the NBA. Also when the NBA has to ban the league's most dynamic and signature shot, the slam dunk, because of you, that speaks volumes. What's amazing is Kareem developed the most unstoppable shot in the history, the skyhook. No one has been able to repeat it.

    My favourite scene in this video is at 2:29:00 because the way you slam the book closed and nonchalantly toss it away - having directly proceeded the comprehensive analysis and breakdown of the GOAT candidates - simultaneously portrays how arduous and enduring the task was and yet also how seemingly indifferent you are to the mammoth amount of work you have done.

      @SunamiKilla Wilt was a center and the average center at the time was 6'10, Shaq actually had it easier. Shaq would sometimes get shut down by Dennis Rodman who was 100 lbs less than him. Not a significant difference and nobody can accurately call the league when Wilt played "tiny." That's a silly argument that uninformed people keep tossing around because they think it makes them look smart. The hand check rule was changed mostly because of Jordan and the league wanting more offense. Refs also gave Jordan favorable treatment, ignoring his fouls on defense, calling fouls with Jordan on offense if somebody farted on his leg, The refs also always gave Jordan the five steps he needed for a dunk. You sound like someone who never saw Wilt play.

    it was not for 'the love of the game' but was a request by management to get ratings and increase ticket sales, in return once mj retires he would be able to go back to his role as bball ops with ownership options.....this was the only real reason he came back to play with the wiz.
    but when he retired, the owners declined him the role and ownership option, which pissed him off and the rest is history

      @@MrOctober44 Duncan is one of the most overrated players of all time. Two of his finals victories are illegitimate in my view, especially against the Cavs. That was the first finals where the NBA completely abandoned the rules. It was like the cavs were playing by the rules, and the spurs weren't. Every screen Duncan set was a moving screen. Every time Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard drove to the basket, or did that handoff play around the perimeter, they traveled. I remember one play where Parker traveled, double dribbled, carried, and committed an up and down violation, in the same play, and it was a top play! This finals turned me off nba basketball. It was a farce, and one of the worst displays of basketball I've ever seen. They traveled so much that the defense would jump at the wrong time! The cavs got cheated out of that one. I can't consider that a real championship. Overrated! Two undeserved rings. He was a great, but is super overrated

      Pill Box I hated Jordan too, but for a different reason. The shine he took off of Scottie Pippen’s achievements, to put himself on that GOAT Pedestal. Pippen if you look at his achievements is a 85% LeBron James, just like Kobe is a 85% Micheal Jordan.
      Jordan has a career 48% win-rate WITHOUT Scottie Pippen, he had 0 of 5 winning seasons, and was 1-10 in the playoffs overall without him(the east was top-heavy, like now, so sub-500 teams made the playoffs in those 3 seasons) .
      Jordan also lost a critical playoff game 7 in 1995 when Pippen was out with a Disability, BUT the blame still gets put on Pippen for missing the game , and not Jordan for not being able to win without Pippen by his side.
      Jordan is only the GOAT, when he had Pippen by his side. Then his career win rate goes up to 68% when they are together, and 6-5 for winning their conference.
      Together, the Jordan-Pippin Bulls were THE GREATEST DUO OF ALL TIME.

    • @chrisfun5295
      @chrisfun5295 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jason roman you cant mic drop to something that’s wrong. Jordan made more all defense team then Lebron and has a DPOY so saying all he had do was score is incorrect. Also Lebron has only been without another all in his first stint in Cleveland and 2018 in Cleveland. In those he never won anything of note except individual accolades, and those teams never beat good teams as the east was always weak. Now Lebron still was the main catalyst but they had a great system of shooters that could space the floor for Lebron, and they played good team basketball, but last time I checked he didn’t win any rings no DPOY’s and he was swept in the finals. So even if he carried he didn’t win also in 2018 he got past a injured Celtics team, a good raptors team I’ll give you that, but saying he did everything is wrong when he didn’t make an all defensive team for the past 5 years, he’s been sitting out games, and that 2018 Cavaliers team was last in defensive rating, so clearly if he was doing everything he wasn’t doing it well. So if he was carrying he never won without another all star. So what are we left with, he’s won 3 chips with 2 assists other all stars where both teams lost more in the finals then they won (I’ll give him a pass in Cleveland.) but also he’s never won 60 games in Cleveland and they were a bad defensive team. Also last time I checked Jordan always had a 60 win season and was top 3 in the league for defensive rating every season. Also stop with the bullshit about pippen. Jordan in 1987 where he didn’t have any other all star but pippen was a rookie averaging 7 ppg, and got to the ECF and was beaten by the pistons who had the far superior team, but no Jordan just couldn’t win without pippen but for Lebron when he gets to the finals and gets swept and he shoots poorly from the field and gets shut down defensively by the spurs no he doesn’t have enough help bro be consistent with your arguements.

    • @chrisfun5295
      @chrisfun5295 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jason roman also you see how you are trying to downplay the dominance of the bulls who won 6 chips (btw Dennis Rodman wasn’t there on the first one) that Jordan had so much help when Rusty Buckets just showed you that Jordan had less help, but also nobody other then him and Scottie averaged over 15 ppg where as Lebron had more all stars he’s played with and has a worse winning percentage than MJ though MJ has less help. Also MJ went to the ECF three times before making the finals where the pistons set up the whole defense around just stopping him, not pippen (who was averaging only like 12 ppg at the time) because and I’m quoting them that no one else on that team could beat them. Also you can penalize Jordan for having help that’s not fair no Goat player can win without help, I’m just saying that fuck the times Lebron carried, but I care about the times he actually won, and as far as I can see when he was actually in a contending position he had more help, and less rings to show for it MIC 🎤 DROP

    Great video, I would like to point out a two things though:
    1) Bill Russell and Wilt definitely are a part of this conversation. However, for at least half-2/3 of their careers, the NBA only had between 8-12 teams with a vastly different Playoff format. Winning 11 Championships when Boston has an automatic first round bye, then needs to win a Best of 5 followed by a Best of 7 in the championship is way easier than the grueling modern era regular season/playoffs we have today. The season was also shorter with only 72 games in a regular season as opposed to 82 today. There is a good chance with more teams and more games, Bill's body would not have sustained the excellency he had in his career.
    2) Your "Help Modifier" was an interesting metric, however I feel what would have been more fair was to have the metric be measured as a per season number. Kobe had multiple years of help from Shaq and Magic had the majority of his career with Kareem. However, both of those are measured the same way as LeBron's 4 season with Miami, the last of which was clear Wade was not the same player as he once was.
    Overall, great video and it was a fun watch. Props to the production quality given the size of your channel. Hope you continue to grow this! Maybe remake the video in another 3-4 years since I very well believe Steph Curry who basically changed the modern NBA game will eventually be part of this list as well.

Ewing, Hakeem, Drexler, Robinson, Barkley, Reggie, Grant Hill had no second star. There were literally only a handful of teams who did. And even if they did they were not as good as Pippen. Mourning had Tim hardaway. Shaq had Penny who was only really good for like 2 in a half seasons and the same thing for gary payton and shawn kemp. The only other most consistent duo was Stockton and Malone but by the time they started making it out of the west the bulls had a third star in Rodman so yeah. I've been a fan of Lebron ever since 2003, and for years I personally believed Lebron was the G.O.A.T.
    But as I started to play, watch and learn about the game it becomes more and more clear to me that M.J is and will remain the G.O.A.T, at least for another couple of decades.
    Out of everyone, Lebron and Kareem probably have the strongest argument against MJ in that they sustained their peak for such a long time to set mind blowing numbers/records.
    If your category for defining G.O.A.T is longevity and sustained greatness then I'd put Lebron, Kobe and Kareem all above MJ, but none of the 3 greats quite reached the peak that MJ has reached.
    MJ's prime/peak is just a tad better than anyone and everyone who has played whether it is in advanced metric, basic numbers and more importantly just pure eye test.
    Though I think it is pointless to discuss who the best player is out of the players that played in different eras, I think if you look closely enough the evidences will show who the greatest is.

He would relentlessly score on mid range shots, in transition, or at the rim in the half court and find teammates when they were open. He was unstoppable and never let off the intensity, he played every game and every
    minute. He was the ultimate irresistible force that broke the opponent, as he did it on both ends of the floor. As one of the greatest defenders of all time, his opponents never had a moment to rest, mentally or physically. His competitiveness, confidence and leadership were also unparalleled. He was more of a Patton type of leader, not warm and fuzzy, but his teammates were forced to achieve a higher level and care more about winning than they ever had; the alternative was far too unpleasant. You never see any of that in highlights, only his spectacular aerial displays with some of his iconic clutch plays ( which is legit) sprinkled in. Entertaining, but completely fails to capture why he was the greatest player, not just the greatest athlete. His true greatness, if you watched him live, was that you KNEW he was going to win, you knew it. He took control of the outcome and there was never any doubt. Barry Bonds at the plate his last few years was the only athlete I ever saw where you knew the outcome was a foregone conclusion. MJ never even went to a single game 7 in the playoffs. Traditional stats showing 35/ game in the playoff on over 50% shooting, near record steals, etc are illustrative, but look at advanced stats, they show just how much more dominant he was than anyone else.

    It's funny how the excuse for Jordan winning is everyone got old- really they draft happens every year. Jordan played when the east was the dominant conference. So Jordan didn't have that beast to go against because he was the beast. That's call total domination of a career.

      @@TheLivingPizza4 No, beco the east sucked. He is 3-6 in the finals really shows you how a lot of times he did not deserve going in the finals. LBJ lost to an aging mavs and Spurs team. MJ was winning at 35 yrs old. LBJ has the most help wade is top 5 irving is top 10 bosh and love was top 15 before joining LBJ with a bunch of rewlly good starters and role players. Now he has Top 5 player in the league in davis and a bunch of exceptional role pplayers Davis is top 1 big man by the way too much help to go 3-6. Bot a goat.

      @@JahleelX-xx9wd Pretty sure the 1994 season was they added Toni Kukoc lmao. Are you dumb? Also they still have their system while on the other hand LBJ is the fucking system on the teams he plays the coach has to accomodate his play style and build around him with spot shooters etc. for example. MJ was coachable and a good off ball player while LBJ is not even close when he leaves his team they collapse because the team is built around him.

    I rarely comment and have just barely kept with the NBA, etc. Well done! Your final words were well put and needed to be heard by those who believe there can only be One.
