- Scuba Diving Legendary Australian Dive Site Fish Rock Cave At South West Rocks
In this episode, Mark & Holly head on an Australian scuba diving road trip for the week. Their second stop, is to the beach town of South West Rocks, famous for a legendary dive site called Fish Rock Cave.
Fish Rock Cave, the only true ocean cave dive in Australia running 125 metres right through Fish Rock which lies two kilometres south-east of Smoky Cape - South West Rocks. Fish Rock is home to a completely unique ecosystem. The temperature inside the cave is always at least one degree warmer than the surrounding ocean and the water is always clear. The shallow entrance of Fish Rock Cave at a depth of 12 metres is a large naturally lit cavern fringed by pink gorgonian corals and teeming with enough life to fill an entire dive. You can even go up into the bubble cave and talk to your dive buddy while being five metres underwater! The deep entrance of Fish Rock Cave is at a depth of 24 metres. You can also to see resident black cod, large wobbegong sharks, black rays and giant cuttle fish before ascending up one of the two chimneys into the main section of the cave to be greeted by Grey Nurse Sharks.

How heavy was this site with diver traffic? It is one of the most well known dives in New South Wales, so I imagined there would be a lot of divers, but your video does not reflect that - unless of course you are just an awesome videographer and managed to keep them all out of shot 😂
Surprisingly there is only one operator now in the area as the others went under. So normally maybe 1 or 2 of their boats there which only holds 8 divers each.
Holly was the videography on these dives, she says she is just awesome 😂

Do you need to be cavern dive certed to do this dive. I'm RSD and this looks awesome
No need to be cave certified. As you can always an exit it is deemed cavern.
