I’ve been watching a fair few tutorials on crochet over the past couple of weeks and yours are but far the best! Clear, concise and very friendly! Thank you!!
My daughter is pregnant with her first baby and my first grandbaby. We're all so excited. This looks like a nice little toy for when baby can grasp a toy.
Genius!! My cat had this favorite ball, the only toy he likes and it got stepped on. It made a noise and I was gonna crochet around it, but I think I’ll try your idea with the bag. Very smart! 🧶😽
This was probably to most helpful video for this that i every seen bc making this ball is so dang hard that i got discourage but FINALLY someone that explains it so well. Thank youuuuu. Im bout to get back into my crocheting groove.😭😭😭
Great idea, I have 10 grandbabies and 6 are in one family so being bored is going to drive our daughter crazy and what a great way to harmlessly toss the ball around next 2 weeks off school won't be so bad. Have a fantastic evening and thank you 😊
thanks for this fun safe ball for everyone and every dog or cat to enjoy :D I've never used any yarn bigger than a 4 weight. Now I can :D New subbie today.
@@JaydaInStitches I just found your channel I have not yet had a chance to check out your other videos. I've been wanting to make a large ball that I could use as a sofa pillow. Have you made anything like that? Also, where can I find your Stitch markers? The ones I use require three hands 😂
I made one of these balls over the weekend for an Easter present for my expected grandson. My puppy loved it, too! (Mental note: do not leave kids’ toys where the pup can reach!) At least, I hadn’t washed it yet! 😂😂 I love it and plan on making more for the older grandkids for indoor play.
Wish I could have been here to participate in the live chat when it premiered! These look so squishy and cute! I think of babies when I see these. I feel like they would enjoy a big soft ball!
Last night I was watching a September 2019 formerly streamed video. You stressed the importance of counting your stitches. Today, this great video ! While watching this I figured out what’s going on with my “Doll” from one of your older videos. Her head looked too big. (?) so I went back to her unfinished head and counted. Oops, her head was supposed to go to 16 or 18, not 24....32 before the decrease!! Guess I’ll make a ball now and a small doll later.....count Chris, count !
I have a silly question. Can you increase this a few more rows to make it a bit bigger? Like can I go 2,1,1,1,2 and then 2,1,1,1,1,2 etc. then would I increase my single chain rows? Would decreasing just work the same ? Single 2 together, 1 single, single 2 together each round to close? Or am I best leaving this alone? Lol
Hi Maurie! You got it 😊 You might want to add a few more rows of the straight sc before you start decreasing just to even out the sizing, but yes, that's it!
@@JaydaInStitches thank you so much. I made my first and it turned out great. Wish I could show you a picture. The Bernat yarn I used made it look like a globe of the world. Lol
Not a silly question at all! I had the same question! Im glad someone asked and I could find the answer! I'm using this as a base to go off for making stuffed animal/plushie heads ! Im making a cute dino plushie for my nephew! IM gonna make one big ball for the head and then a half ball for the snout part 😁
Thank you so much for your great clear instructions. I especially liked knowing the number of stitches I should have at the end of each row. Well gone, Helena Marie
Thank you for sharing this amazing little project cute fun , enjoy your precious weekend keep smiling. Kind regards swift hug from England hope you all keeping well. :- )
Hi @jaydainstitches !! If I wanted to make it 1 size bigger by adding 1 extra increase row, would the regular sc rows (4 of them) still be 4 rows or would I have to increase by 1 regular sc row as well?
Hi! It all depends on how it looks, you might need 1 extra row of regular, possibly 2, but you'll have a better idea when you get to that point...try stuffing it too (you can take the stuffing back out while you work decrease rows if you need to) to get an idea of how it will look when finished 😊
Easter is coming up soon. These would be great to make and hide them around the house or outside. When your kid or kids find the color they chose then they get a prize for find it. How much funny would it be?
Hi jayda. I have attempted to make this ball 3 times and although I think I am doing everything right I am obviously not as when I get to round 5 I have 34 stitches. The start of my ball to the end of my ball does not look the same.
Hi Sandra, it sounds like you might have added a couple of extra stitches somewhere, but a different of 2 sts isn't too big a deal :) Once you being the decrease rows, you might want to work an extra decrease stitch in each of the first two decreasing rows just to get the stitch count back down again. Then, it's just a matter of stuffing it into a ball shape :)
Hi! You might find that your stitches are on the tight side with the smaller hook, but yes, you can use a smaller hook. Try to keep your tension a little loose 😊
Hi! You'd have to keep increasing until your circle reached just under the circumference of a basketball, then work several rows straight until it was large enough, then decrease in reverse increase order 😊
Hey could you make a video how to make a sinch cricle im new to crochet and i cant see what your doing that well! Please you dont have to do it if you dont want to im just asking because im a little bit confused at the start!
Hi! Tension, yarn weights and even individual hooks vary between us all which is why everything we make, even while following the same pattern as another, always come out looking unique. It's like a signature 😊
The soft, bulky yarn helps make this ball extra squishy and soft - but you can use 3 strands of medium weight yarn held together to get a ball the same size :)
It looks like a Tulip (gold) to me. I don't see them very often they're really expensive. I think they have pink Tulips as well. I don't know much about them though.

Hi! In this case, a bowl is fine since we want to turn it into a ball anyway, but this is a common issue with circles. You can either use a larger hook (to ease your tension) or use lighter weight yarn :)
Maybe It's because my yarn is a size 4, or something else, but I can't seem to get this at all, maybe once I complete one It will help with the frustration 😂
If you're using a smaller weight yarn, be sure to use a smaller hook size to keep your stitches tight and help with tension, otherwise, your stuffing will just fall though the spaces!
I tried this the first time but I messed up and the stitches weren't the right number so I started over. so now when I count and it's right I get a little exited😂😂
My grandson is obsessed with the solar system right now - these will make adorable planets for him to play with. Thanks!

Jayda InStitches Thankyou for getting back to me. I have now made 5 and although not perfect they still look great. Many thanks 😀
If I were to increase to the point of 2sc, then 1sc in the next 8, how many sc rows are necessary?
Hi Leslie, 2 plus 8 is 10, and on a base multiple of 8, you should be at 80 sts around.
Could you possibly help us with a bigger ball too?
Thank you for the suggestion! 😊
I don't have any bulky weight yarn, will this pattern work with regular size yarn?
Karen Twardowski You could hold 2 or 3 strands together to make a bulky yarn. Jayda has a video on that.
I don't have an 8.0mm hook, can I use a 6.0mm hook instead?
Hi! You might find that your stitches are on the tight side with the smaller hook, but yes, you can use a smaller hook. Try to keep your tension a little loose 😊
Thank you for sharing, great tutorial 👍.
You’re welcome 😊 Thank you for watching!
Hi! I have a question, why is this pattern have 8 SC in the first row compared to the other crochet balls? Is it because of the chenille yarn?
Hi Christelle, 8 sc as a base works nicely for the size of this ball pattern 😊
