Even when talking about a 2 state solution they tend to draw maps that put all the natural resources, agricultural sites, and water availability in their hands, as well as controlling all the territory between arab settlements. One of the big reasons the two state solution keeps breaking down is it leaves Israel in defacto economic and military control of the land, even if Palestinians technically 'own' it. But getting back to the original question.. converting Jerusalem into a city state would be an interesting solution, but the people who currently control the city and their backers (both the US and Russia) are not interested in that resolution. The only way it could happen is if some other came in, conquered the whole region, resettled people, then repartitioned it from scratch.

Israel has never fought a war against "Palestine", however, Israel has fought several wars against Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. Jordan even occupied for 19 years the territory that Israel are in control of today. At the same amount of time, Egypt occupied Gaza. So why didn't the Arabs establish a Palestinian state while it was occupied by Jordan and Egypt, from 1948 to 1967? Moreover, why would the "Palestinians" need a state of their own when they all demand to be repatriated to Israel? From a nation building perspective it makes no sense. There was never the Arab's intention to establish a Palestinian state, it was always all about destroying Israel. There will never be established another arab state smack in the middle of Israel, there's no democratic elements and no sustenance to build on. Israel is here to stay, you might as well accept it.

I wonder. With all this chaos being caused and tension being raised, has anyone kept an eye on the price of oil being imported into the country? Not to detract from the obvious problems this move has caused, but Trump shouldn't strike anyone as a person particularly interested in religion. And he has been trying to open the US to resource mining and oil drilling while at the same time undercutting alternative energy sources. If he were to artificially create an oil shortage, say by further destabilizing the middle east via the Iran Deal and the Jerusalem move, how hard would it be to justify opening up all that federal land he wanted to for his buddies to start drilling in?

Israel has never fought a war against "Palestine", however, Israel has fought several wars against Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. Jordan even occupied for 19 years the territory that Israel are in control of today. At the same amount of time, Egypt occupied Gaza. So why didn't the Arabs establish a Palestinian state while it was occupied by Jordan and Egypt, from 1948 to 1967? Moreover, why would the "Palestinians" need a state of their own when they all demand to be repatriated to Israel? From a nation building perspective it makes no sense. There was never the Arab's intention to establish a Palestinian state, it was always all about destroying Israel. There will never be established another arab state smack in the middle of Israel, there's no democratic elements and no sustenance to build on. Israel is here to stay, you might as well accept it.
