    Nice collection. Where do you buy your tush tag protectors? I can't find any but for the Gen 1 tush tags on eBay. I grabbed a bag of 3 Beanies for $3 at Savers thrift store this weekend for Dotty, which I didn't have in my collection. I also just barely saw there was a Lucky in the bag but didn't care since I have the common Gen 4 version. Well, when I opened the bag at home out popped Lucky, but it was a mint felt spot version with a Gen 2 hang tag. My jaw dropped. After buying these for 23 years I've never made a find like that.

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice, that's a pretty cool find.
      Anyway, I've never bought any tag protectors aside from a pack of 100 hang tag sleeves and about 10 hard plastic ones, both from a flea market. Everything else I have (including the tush tag ones) have just come on the Beanies when I bought them, and I've shifted them around as needed.

    Very informative. I have a multiple error gen 4 or 5 Curly that I am still trying to fully id. 1996 tag with 1993 tush tag. Origiinal and Suface misspelled. The sold prices on EBay are very suspicious. They seen way too high. If you get a chance to answer, any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's no more than $10. The dates on the tags are always like that, they aren't supposed to match. The Origiinal and Suface errors are present on about 12 different Beanies including Curly, and they were printed that way for a few months. You can always list it as a selling point to bring the price up by a few bucks, but it's really not that rare or special.

    • @bibliophile2707
      @bibliophile2707 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BikdipOnABus Thanks for the info. There has to be some scam with the prices on Ebay. Some sold prices are in the thousands but most are what you say. The high sold sales prices are usually a new seller with no feedback coupled with a guest buyer with no history. Money laundering? Very strange. Have you seen anything like this in your experience?

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bibliophile2707 You've pretty much got it exactly right, though it's not always something as dramatic as money laundering. Usually it's just some asshole who buys their own stuff to make it look valuable, hoping to fool others. This article (which is actually about Curly specifically, but the principle applies to basically any other Beanie as well) explains what to look for.
      beaniebabiespriceguide.com/curly-ty-beanie-baby-in-the-spotlight/
      Basically you should never use ebay listings as a good resource unless you really know what you're looking for. When you see hundreds of people listing the same thing with the same "errors" and some are for $10 and some are several thousand, you know something stupid is going on.

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      More rare than the Chinese one. If it has PE Pellets, it's still not worth a whole lot (about $15 max). If it's PVC, then that's a different story. The price guide puts Indo/PVC at $25-$125, which is a huge range, but that's based off ebay selling prices which can of course vary. If it also has the Canadian tush tag (in addition to Indonesian + PVC), then that increases it even further, with $145-$225 being the listed range.

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0beno683 no they don't. I know it can look that way, but it's because eBay is terrible at filtering out fake sales and actually displaying the accurate prices that people pay. For instance, if something is listed for $1000 and has a "accepts best offer" option, then someone buys it for $5, it'll still say it sold for a thousand.
      If you still don't believe me, look at all the identical ones listed for much lower prices that aren't getting sold. If they were actually such rare, high value items, people would be snatching them up.

    • @BikdipOnABus
      @BikdipOnABus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Terrence Wilkins If they are, I'd be one of the first to know, given that I'm in a facebook chat with the people who make the price guide. They could be making a "comeback" in the sense that more people will start collecting again, and that more of the terrible clickbait lists will be made, but there's no evidence to suggest they'll ever return to the prices and popularity levels seen in the 90s.

      I mean... I said that some are worth a bit and some aren't. And specified which was which. How is that confusing?

    The worst video l have ever seen, why do this, when your info is incorrect, a person would need to be a Dr. Lawyer, or an Indian Chief, to keep up with all the wrong info out there, and with these Bears. At a time like this, with the country in the toilet with the Covid 19-20-21- Pandemic, everyone is upset, depressed, and all you can do is burst the bubble of young children who bought these Beanies with their pocket money in good faith, or. they were bought for them as gifts,
    I have friends who are collectors. Who bought these as collectibles, l have over 500 myself, bought in Ireland, England, Canada,
    Maine, then we have these videos, telling people that they have been had, just like the Potter Books, what you are saying is, unless you have something wrong with your book, or Beanie, it is not worth anything, we only pay for rejects. Boy America have we come far. Thank you for opening the eyes of the people, that have made these fools very Rich by buying their garbage.
    Who hired you to do this?
    I'm sure it was not the Chinese. Thanks for nothing.

      You sound like a poor loser. You must have been HAD and now want to blame someone else for your misfortune. And I don't know of a child that bought these in the 90's with their allowance, that is depressed about that expenditure. You sound like you bought them as an adult. Millions of these were produced. They never stated that only a few thousand would exist. Just because someone says its worth $1000 or more doesn't make it so. I just found a big tub of these things while cleaning out. I did the research to know what to look for but looks like most are not worth what I paid for them when they were brand new off the shelf.($5). But I did not buy them as a collectible. Get over it.

    Something disturbing about adult men as beanie baby collectors -twenty years later. Such a waste of time and money.

    are congos with white stars worth anything?

      99% of the time, a tag with a white star is a result of fading. It's very difficult to prove that one was produced that way originally. You pretty much need to get it authenticated by True Blue Beans, and in my opinion, it's not worth the money to do that, since it'll almost certainly just be judged as having a faded tag. There's really not that much of a market for tag oddities anyway.

      and yea it's a 5th generation according to the capital I on the tag so its more than like faded
