Ohhh my!! When I understood in 2nd or 3rd grade after playing it in the school bus that you can't lose, I only played it a few times the next day and then never again. That guy is probably a salesman now, able to sell ice to eskimos.
I did figure this out when I was around 9 or 10. We called it the three corner trick I'm pretty sure I'm not alone who figured a perfect tic tac toe game would always end out in a tie.
TheGuardian163 yea me too and i am 13 now :D it pretty easy i just dont know how to explain it :P i mean u will never lose but sometime i lost cause u know get boring and try some luck :3
not really ? it's like calling yourself the checkers master I can still have a job, I could be rich but know how to play checkers I don't get your logic here?!?
I’ve used this strategy for years. I never challenge people to rock, paper, scissors for a dispute, always tic tac toe. Most people think it’s random enough to be fair.
I always forget the mechanics of this, so to boil it down to a rule: Always go corner, then force them to make a move that does NOT give them 2 in a row. (The only caveat being if they go middle, in which case all you can do is avoid forcing them to make a move that DOES give them 2 in a row.)
That's another good way to start off. But it's like you said, a 50-50 shot right from the beginning. It's always good to change things up a bit too, so give this a shot and see what works! Great to hear from you again! :)
Basically *never* pick a side square. Whether as X or O. If you go 1st as X _always_ take a corner, as O _always_ counter to a corner _Only_ move to side as a final KILL move or FORCED to block
I have another strategy of my own. It only really works though if you're the first person to draw. You start in the center, then if they choose a square that's not a corner, then you could put your next move in a corner on the opposite side of their X/O. That will force them to block you since you could make a diagonal. You block them from making a win, then you have a little triangle where you can either make a diagonal or a straight line.
I'm not sure if you want to say that out loud... This is the normal way to play, to basically always end up to tie unless one makes mistake which honestly won't happen too often with only 9 moves in one game. Try mastering alternative version of trying to get 5 in a row on unlimited grid. If you find out ultimate strategy to that where you never lose then THAT will be impressing. (or yeah basically playing a perfect game you never lose but that means just that the opponent needs to make a mistake)
Eric Buffington You’re welcome! ;) :) Oh and did you know us English established our Washington in the North East of England BEFORE! You Americans established Washington DC?! XD
I found this out before watching ur video and I love how people don’t know how to win tic tac toe so they end up thinking I’m a genius for always winning
I actually came up with the corner-first strategy on my own a few months ago, and it's really useful and effective. I haven't even bothered going center first since then.
Sorry, optimal strategy of tic-tac-toe is a cat game. You fail to show the alternative which is to select the middle to start, in which case the opponent picks a corner to make a cat game. If the opponent chooses a side instead, in this case, he loses, because you will just choose a corner connecting to that side, and he will have to block you, in which case, you put your next piece in the corner that does not border any of his moves, and it becomes a trap. If he picks a corner after you pick the center, then you will likely draw, but corners are better real estate than sides, unless you need to block your opponent from winning. So to begin, the first player must pick a corner or the center. To tie, the opponent must pick the other option of these two.
Because there are 3 possible outcomes. You could win, lose, or tie the game, so it makes perfect sense that the primary point of the video is how to avoid losing but not necessarily winning every time.
Not in an aggressive way, but this seemed obvious to me, like I've done this since a young age because it made sense. I'd like to brag and say 7 but its probably 10 or 12. Expected to see a swarm of comments about how obvious it was but there weren't many. Convinces me i just got lucky finding it but did anyone else do this for as long as they can remember??
Same, I thought that this was obvious? I never really thought of it as a "technique", I just naturally figured it out, maybe at like 8-10 years old, same with my brother. Also, you can also do this by starting in the middle and adapt based on where the opponent places there is. Stopped playing tic-tac-toe with my brother forever ago because nobody ever wins, and it got boring. I only lose when I'm intentionally playing badly against small kids.
