I don't understand why so many people don't like this year. Sure a few corps had off years, but look at the Blue Stars, SCV, Troopers, Even Phantom had a pretty good show in my opinion. They may have gotten 9th, but the show itself wasn't that bad. I think This year was just a little shaky cause it was the first year in Lucas oil and DCI was still ajusting to it
2009 was a great year for all. Creativity flourished and sounds were unlike any before. I even applaud BD for their showmanship and musicality this year. I think the Cavies could have been a little more creative, but it was a great show nonetheless. Phantom always is my personal favorite, but Carolina Crown is really REALLY growing on me.
Carolina Crown uncountably had the BEST moment in DCI of 2009 with the "Puck" section of their show. Say it live on several occasions and was just as thrilling each time as the first one was.
You don't have to play any of these instruments to enjoy the musicianship of what all the corps do. Truely incredible music, artistry and showmanship. True dedication. Thank you. Waiting patiently for Best of 2010
It's nice to know that no matter the placement you're going to end with phantom :D but you left off my favorite part. In the closer, when they're in the two diagonal lines and break off into four rectangles playing the main theme. But great job anyways, it's always a pleasant surprise to see that you've finished another one.
2009 was our 75th anniversary of the Holy Name Cadets in 1934 before it turned into Garfield Cadets, Cadets of Bergen County, and then Cadets. While we were known as The Cadets since 1999, it made perfect sense to celebrate in 2009 by going back to HNC for that year only.
Very good season! Wow..so may favs... Troopers - Most definite 'Hell bent for Victory!' Carolina Crown-Number 1 in my book - Super Show Cadets-They were movin' big time! Phantom-Super clean horn line. Shafted in score department though... Boston-Wow! Super show concept and done well! Cavs-Show grew on me during season-Fist thought 'what is the deal with all of the ropes?' Loved it by end of season.. Blue Stars-Wow! Super theme and done well! Glassmen. Bluecoats and BN. Always solid shows!
I never got to see it live myself, but I remember hearing the opening statement and loving it! Great design and great execution for one hell of a show.
Seriously, how do Blue Devils keep winning? They play the same show every year. Crown, Cavies, Bluecoats, and Phantom (though not this year, but in general) have all clearly surpassed them. Anyway, LOVE the Phantom ending. That last hit blew my face off. And then you hear the Mello's progressing up the arpeggio and you get all excited, and then they rip that top note and it's EVEN FUCKING LOUDER. Absolutely orgasmic. Jeremy, thank you.
nice shows... nothing in particular really stood out and blew me away, i think that will make this year be forgotten later on. I'd really like Crown, Bluecoats or even SCV to win one, they're overdue. Glassmen uniforms are downright sexy. Damn.
@JeremysBugles I go to school with PR 09 Trumpet Section Leader. He's a complete beast. Look at Kansas State University El Diablo. The screaming trumpet heard over all 300 instruments is him
I mean... they did a bit of Jazz with their 2005 program "Rhapsody in Blue" That was one of their best shows of all time. People love that show and it was top 3.
@mthsbandrocks they just changed it up a bit, they do alot.... their uniform has a left leg cape thats yellow on the inside to match CG's uniforms,, 2010 was like a grey glitter type thing looks freaking sweet
It's cool that not everyone likes what every corps does. I've studied Copland a lot in my time, including writing my masters thesis on one of his pieces. I've loved App. Spring in both it's original chamber form as well as the larger orchestral suite form for dozens of years. I loved SCV's show. So, to each their own!
@DCBDlife i have never played a Bach 6 1/2 AL but the 16c4 (standard Xeno MP) is thick which allows for a big, and rich tone. i love playing it :) but i prefer others. but no, they do not, but they prefer you do for a uniform sound throughout the corp.
Yet again another awesome video Jeremy! Till today I still wonder why you're not getting rammed by copyright *touch wood* I just got rammed again with a couple of videos.. that's 2 strikes..lol. Anyways thanks for the upload!
Carolina Crown equals, loudest, most full sounding brass, drumline with the most notes, kickass pit, great show ideas, and a graceful colorguard. (All in my opinion) Who could ask for more?
Troopers will make it big time in the next few years, I think. Coming from nothing and a year later making it to finals? They are definitely not a corps to joke about.
This year for DCI was incredible! No way was it "momotonous"! I own the world championships for the past several years and i can tell you this year stands out among others... I suggest you watch the entire show from each corp instead of these small clips, and then tell me if each show is similar.
You definitely have an excellent point about the execution. No doubt, BD lays it down. But I think that the fact that their shows are so similar, especially this year compared to last, brings the difficulty way down because it's the same. I would do well to remember that execution is the vast majority of what this all comes down to. But I do feel that other Corps execute better with shows with more contour, or however you spell it. I'm also stupid and forgot to add Cadets to the list.
It's only because it's really recording the twenty or so people right in front of the mics. In the show, it sounded pretty good. Especially not in a dome.
@BrassKate what do you mean "coming from nothing?" they've been around alot longer than most other corps (1957) , and have been to the finals for a long time, they had made finals more than 10 times for DCI, and more before DCI.
Its actually how close we were to the microphones and due to the fact we were spread out across the field. Trust me, we could stagger breathe. I guarantee the judges heard 1 solid wall of sound.
@AsianGreenMario Someone threw the rifle, they didnt toss it up. Meaning it was supposed to be that way. And DCI colorguards have dropped many times before. They just do a very good job covering it up when they drop.
Vanguard was the best this year, by far. They didn't really have an amazing theme, but the music, technique, and drill was all top notch. I really like the Blue Knights' show this year as well. And I'm kind of disappointed the Cavaliers' "mountain climber" didn't make it in this cut!
I don't understand why so many people don't like this year. Sure a few corps had off years, but look at the Blue Stars, SCV, Troopers, Even Phantom had a pretty good show in my opinion. They may have gotten 9th, but the show itself wasn't that bad. I think

It was a good year for Boston to.
+Connor Fitzgerald True True. Everytime I watch this video I like the year 09 even more.
I think its because 2008 was such a good year that the drop off in quality in 2009 was kind of a let down for fans
2009 was a great year for all. Creativity flourished and sounds were unlike any before. I even applaud BD for their showmanship and musicality this year. I love the video, impressed with Casper's show and the Blue Stars had a great show...but the Crown was definitely my favorite!

"We're Carolina Crown and we're so good that we march on our knees!"

crown and scv hornlines were so powerful this past season.....definitely my fav.
Awesome video. Thanks for posting!
as great as your other videos! thanks for putting it up!
Oh I miss marching. Can't wait for summer again!
wow jeremey your amazing for making all these videos
YAY im soo happy this came out
im surprised that the blue knights drum break drill didn't make it onto your best of 2009 i thought that was an amazing moment this season
So great. I love you for making these videos, I've been waiting for this one especially!!!!
Great video...thanks for creating it!

this was actually probably such a beneficial year for regiment, I've never heard their hornline sound this full and rich.
true that. we definately need some more of those shows. Hopefully, '10 will be better.
@DCBDlife
The mouthpiece is the standard one that comes with the xeno horns the cadets play with. Its interesting to play but heavy...
nice shows... nothing in particular really stood out and blew me away, i think that will make this year be forgotten later on. I'd really like Crown, Bluecoats or even SCV to win one, they're overdue. Glassmen uniforms are downright sexy. Damn.
Trooper trumpets at 4:30 LOVE IT!!!
The multi-cam actually cuts to the guard just as the Puck footwork begins. So Jeremy couldn't have shown it anyways.
i dont think it is one of the worst, just that none of the show's has that wow factor that just brings you to your knees.
It's great to see the future 2010 champions at work. (Carolina Crown)
@JeremysBugles I go to school with PR 09 Trumpet Section Leader. He's a complete beast. Look at Kansas State University El Diablo. The screaming trumpet heard over all 300 instruments is him

@RTGUSAS my first DCI show was mad world but seeing great divide i loved it
6:50-6:59 gives me chills every single time. amazing!!!
I'm auditioning for Troopers this year on baritone/euph. God I hope I make it in xD
3:33 - hell yeah, blue stars...nice chord!!
Its about time! what a plesant suprise to see when i got home :) thanks
and you couldnt show the whole puck from Carolina Crown?
scv was amazing this year.. top three definatly...
@DCBDlife i have never played a Bach 6 1/2 AL but the 16c4 (standard Xeno MP) is thick which allows for a big, and rich tone. i love playing it :) but i prefer others. but no, they do not, but they prefer you do for a uniform sound throughout the corp.
trooper's trumpet fanfare was pretty awesome
Loved BD and Crown this year, but the heartbreak for me was phantom in 9th, and no Madison at finals
Yet again another awesome video Jeremy! Till today I still wonder why you're not getting rammed by copyright *touch wood*
I just got rammed again with a couple of videos.. that's 2 strikes..lol. Anyways thanks for the upload!
I agree with you completely
*chills*
i agree, i expect crown to crank out a few championships here in the next 5 or so years
Carolina Crown equals, loudest, most full sounding brass, drumline with the most notes, kickass pit, great show ideas, and a graceful colorguard. (All in my opinion) Who could ask for more?
@MusicWonderz True true my friend.
yeah i saw them in colorado. they changed behind all these barriers.
indeed they are
can't wait for the best 2010 moments =]
Carolina Crown was really good, and is doing really good this year.
@sushigod101 Yamaha 16c4 :) standard MP for Yamaha Xeno's, which is what they use
SCV bass drums 4:23-4:28
Pure Awesomeness
Wow! I forgot how much i liked 2009! :D
@LegoScout09 You can buy the DVD at dci's website, there a little pricey though.
@JeremysBugles Yea I realize this video is finals, but I still loved it. I think I may be a bit partial since I'm marching with them this year.
unless i'm high did blue coats change uniforms?? love how you still end with phantom!! keep it up jeremy!!
to
DCBDlife:
thats a custom yamaha mouthpiece....which is weird because i always thought cadets used bach 3C's
9:45 wow they sound great they can't possibly play louder... 9:53....I stand corrected mellos.
Yeah, when you really listen to it, it's like you hear entire sections dropping out.
The first little segment they have is great, though. :3
i cant wait til i audition for carolina crown or bluecoats next year
Spirit's Ballad should be in here in my personal opinion. Loved Dust in the Wind!
Love 5:02!!! Surprised that it was Carolina Crown.
Only a chosen few can handle the epic-ness of a contra tuba.
Troopers will make it big time in the next few years, I think. Coming from nothing and a year later making it to finals? They are definitely not a corps to joke about.
@JeremysBugles ahha its already here for the holidays! :D

anyone else notice what the BD guard is doing at 3:55 ...i will never unsee that
It's only because it's really recording the twenty or so people right in front of the mics. In the show, it sounded pretty good. Especially not in a dome.
@HurtfullW0rds one of the original drum corps
@AshMoney95 i feel your pain. but there are some perks to playing mellophone
But in the end, someone needs a show like that. Those are the shows that make you remember '89 SCV or '02 Cavaliers
I totally agree masscrman. Awsome flag work
I wish the clips in this video would be longer, it seems like in many of them you stop the clip as it gets good.
@Denshoukiro Yea, it was kinda quick, but a little catchy lol.
I just can't get enough of Frank Sullivan's music (Blue Stars' music arranger).
I thought it was an off year too however the bluecoats show is just spectacular
@BrassKate what do you mean "coming from nothing?" they've been around alot longer than most other corps (1957) , and have been to the finals for a long time, they had made finals more than 10 times for DCI, and more before DCI.
Santa Clara Vanguard had the best show in 2009 hands down.
I just saw my guard coach in one of the BD clips xD
Its actually how close we were to the microphones and due to the fact we were spread out across the field. Trust me, we could stagger breathe. I guarantee the judges heard 1 solid wall of sound.
they're RIGHT NEXT to the mic, so it would have been impossible to overcome
@guitarxgodx100 What do you mean? Troopers have always been around, one of the founding drum corps. I'm confused? Yeah, they were in finals last year.
@AsianGreenMario Someone threw the rifle, they didnt toss it up. Meaning it was supposed to be that way. And DCI colorguards have dropped many times before. They just do a very good job covering it up when they drop.
Man, 2:13, Phantom's horn line is so powerful.
6:51 gives me chills everytime
@mashdoctor No they changed their name just for last year because it was their 75th anniversary
how soon will u b able 2 come out with a video for the 2010 season
@uubboy14 Well this one wasn't made till February. So probably around there lol
i love you Jeremy
@mthsbandrocks who are you, the fasion police? those were the blue devil's uniform's
I have a question. Why does DCI not allow woodwind instruments in their shows?
What happened at 6:57?
That's probably the first time I saw a Colorgaurd from DCI drop a rifle
You better take that back before the gods of drum corps smite to an eternity of bad chops and leg cramps
Vanguard was the best this year, by far. They didn't really have an amazing theme, but the music, technique, and drill was all top notch. I really like the Blue Knights' show this year as well. And I'm kind of disappointed the Cavaliers' "mountain climber" didn't make it in this cut!
Actually that year it was a line of 72...we were actually smaller than all of the top 6
is it just me or is the blue stars horn line bigger than everyone elses
8:29 , second snare from the right. Textbook age-out hype.
@360Alexrules08 didn't they go undefeated that entire year?
